PWinsider.com is reporting that former WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio was at WWE headquarters last week in Stamford, CT to film an interview for an upcoming WWE project related to Rey Mysterio.

While he was at the sports entertainment company’s headquarters, he reportedly met with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, which has led to speculation about him potentially returning to the WWE.

If you recall, there have been some rumblings as of late that McMahon might be interested in bringing him back. He left WWE in September of 2016 after asking for his release. His deal with Impact Wrestling expires next month. Vince is very high on Del Rio and has always been on the “pro” Del Rio side of whether to bring him back or not.

My Thoughts:

While many will be very upset by this, I completely understand why WWE would want his return. He’s a fantastic worker and a name brand. While he’s not the most liked by the fans, that’s an easy heel to get a babyface over. This certainly feels like something that could just be a “connect the dots” rumor where he was their, so it makes sense he spoke to Vince. While I wouldn’t be surprised, I doubt we see him in a WWE ring anytime soon. That being said, he would also be an absolutely fantastic first heel  for Reigns Universal Title reign. As everyone will cheer the big dog.
