It appears that we may have to wait to see Mysterio back in a WWE ring. Rey Mysterio Jr. Looks to have been injured this past Friday night.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting, Mysterio Jr. believes last night that he has torn his left biceps in a tag team match teaming with Flip Gordon against Joey Mercury & Caleb Konley in Waterbury, Connecticut for Northeast Wrestling.

We don’t have details other than he believed the muscle was torn during the match. There was heavy swelling in the arm according to those who saw him after the match but at this point we don’t have confirmation of the extent of the injury.

Mysterio Jr. told Mercury during the match about the injury and Mercury was ready to call an audible on the finish, but Mysterio Jr. immediately did the set up for a double 619 and ended up getting the win for his team by pinning Konley with a splash off the top rope.

With a quick Google search you can see that a Torn left biceps can take 4 to 6 weeks to heal after surgery and then an addition week in a sling may be needed. This would be awful timing and would certainly put Mysterio’s WrestleMania chances low. Especially in a rumored match against John Cena.

My Thoughts:

This is what I always fear about these “returning to WWE” or “coming to WWE superstars” working indy dates. He is likely going to miss a massive payday if he were going to work WrestleMania and on top of that is now injured. Its a shame as I would have loved to see him in any capacity at WrestleMania. Let’s hope for a quick recovery and we soon see the man from the 619 on WWE televsision.
