Today at WWE’s WrestleMania 34 Axxess, SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan made an appearance to answer some questions from Dasha Fuentes. One of the questions posed to Bryan was who on NXT he would like to sign, the GM revealing that he wants Johnny Gargano to lose at tonight’s NXT TakeOver: New Orleans so that he can get him on SmackDown. Of course, Gargano will be taking on Tommaso Ciampa in an Unsanctioned Match where if Johnny loses, he must leave NXT for good. You can hear Bryan’s full remarks below, followed by a retort from Tommaso Ciampa himself:

Contractually, I can make that happen at the conclusion of this evening.

However, after tonight Johnny Gargano will not be wrestling anywhere, period.

EA’s Take: I’ve seen that some people are already taking this and running with it as if Gargano’s already SmackDown Live-bound. I’d hold off on that. Nothing is for certain and we could see a big swerve tonight, but if I’m sticking with my picks then I say Ciampa wins. Gargano goes on to 205 Live. That’s the move, Johnny could be the face of that brand for a year or so, then move him to SmackDown if that’s what you want to do. If you want 205 to ever be important, you need to keep bringing in new talent and more importantly, NAMES.
