Some big news today being reported regarding this week’s New Japan Pro Wrestling event, Wrestling Dontaku. According to PWInsider, despite previously stating that he was all done with NJPW, former multi-time WWE Champion Chris Jericho is expected to make his return. At this time it’s being said Jericho will be in Fukuoka, Japan to shoot an angle, thus setting him up to get back in the ring next month at NJPW’s Dominion.

Previously, ‘Y2J’ claimed he wouldn’t be heading back, stating the relationship was “pretty much finished” (which you can read here). Following his loss earlier this year to Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom, Jericho would attack Tetsuya Naito at the New Year’s Dash event later the same month. Currently, the speculation is that Jericho and Naito will continue that program, but that has yet to be confirmed. This comes on the heels of ‘Y2J’ entering the WWE’s Greatest Royal Rumble last Friday in Saudi Arabia.

EA’s Take: Oh, that wily Jericho got us again. At least he got me anyways. I believed when he said that he was finished with New Japan and this is just another brilliant stroke by one of the best of all-time. Although we’ve now picked up on it, keeping a secret like this is next to impossible these days so anytime it can be done, it makes the impact/reveal/payoff so much better. I would expect the Naito/Jericho beef to continue, but it’s been some time now so I don’t think anything’s really off the table.
