WWE News: This Week’s RAW YouTube Report (5/28/18)
As we all know, social media and other outlets have become a huge means of drawing in interaction and viewers for WWE. Most people will point to television ratings like they did during the Monday Night Wars in the late 1990’s, however that can be skewed with so many various means of watching today that do not include cable television.
As you’ve become accustomed to, here is this week’s RAW YouTube Report (2:30 PM EST, 5/30/18):
- Finn Balor slaps Braun Strowman – 1.7 million views
- Nia Jax plays mind games with Ronda Rousey – 1.4 million views
- Finn Balor vs. Braun Strowman – 1.3 million views
- Intercontinental Title: Seth Rollins vs. Jinder Mahal – 1 million views
- MITB Qualifying Gauntlet Match – 818k views
- Seth Rollins receives assistance leaving the arena – 645k views
- Sami Zayn’s public “apology” to Bobby Lashley – 606k views
RAW’s top YouTube draw Roman Reigns is on a much deserved vacation, leaving the top spot up for grabs this week. ‘The Monster Among Monday Night RAW’ as I’m calling him, Braun Strowman, gladly steps in to the number one slot with RAW’s opening segment that also featured Finn Balor. Braun has shown weekly that he can pull in high numbers (as well as Balor), so it’s not overly shocking to see them clock in at number three as well.
The number two view earner very well could have come in at the top of the heap, as we also have seen Ronda Rousey run through the YouTube competition for the red brand when she appears. Outside of the Money In The Bank Ladder Matches, the Ronda/Nia match might be the most anticipated/looked forward to on that card, even if it’s purely just to see how well Rousey does in her first singles match. At this point, you can put her in a segment with Moppy (if you’re not old enough to remember Moppy, look it up) and she’d still rake in a million views.
‘The KingSlayer’ maintains yet again this week, cracking the million mark with another defense of his Intercontinental Championship. Nobody has been hotter in the WWE than Seth Rollins since WrestleMania. Need proof? Even his match against Mojo Rawley a few weeks back grabbed at least a million. He’s adding a new nickname to his arsenal and that’s ‘Mr. Consistency’. Hell, just him getting medical assistance to leave the arena cracked the top seven videos!
Like we’ve seen with the entire build to Money In The Bank, all the qualifying matches garner interest and RAW’s Gauntlet Match main event was no different as the final opportunity was on the line. While Sasha Banks is able to pull decent views for her matches, it’s not (generally speaking and dependent on her opponent) as high of a number as we see this week, coming in at just under a million. With no real needle movers involved in the Gauntlet, I chalk it up to MITB interest.
Lastly, the follow-up to what some have called the “worst segment ever”, Sami Zayn’s apology (or lack thereof) to Bobby Lashley rounds out the top seven. For all those people who took last week’s segment as offensive or agree with it being the worst ever, in the end it doesn’t matter because it pulls ahead this week of Kevin Owens vs. Bobby Roode, Chad Gable vs. Drew McIntyre, the RAW Tag Champs in action and Elias. What’s funny is that it is just ahead of The B Team’s BBQ, another criticized segment from this week. So whether you talk about something positively or negatively, the fact that you’re even talking about it is sometimes the most important part.

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
