Some big breaking news has just come out today, as WWE has announced that they have released Big Cass. It’s interesting to note that unlike all other releases from the company, WWE’s announcement did not include the usual, “We wish him the best in his future endeavors”:

WWE has come to terms on the release of William Morrissey (Big Cass).

At this time, there are no details on why Cass was let go from the company, as this comes after his second straight loss on pay-per-view to Daniel Bryan this past Sunday at Money In The Bank.

Cass signed to WWE under a developmental deal in 2011, reporting to Florida Championship Wrestling and making his first on-screen appearance as Colin Cassady on September 4th, 2011. It wasn’t until 2012 when FCW was rebranded into NXT that Cass would find success after being paired up with Enzo Amore, becoming one of the company’s most popular tag teams.

The duo would make their main roster debut on the April 4th edition of RAW taking place the night after WrestleMania 32, however the team would last less just over a year before splitting as an angle was run where Enzo had been mysteriously attacked backstage before it was finally revealed that Cass had behind it the whole time. A feud would erupt between the former partners, but ultimately it was cut short when Big Cass suffered a torn ACL on August 21st of last year.

The seven-footer would return on the April 17th episode of SmackDown Live, going right into a rivalry with another recently returned Superstar, Daniel Bryan.
