WWE News: Corey Graves Clarifies Recent Tweets About CM Punk
There was a lot of “hub-bub” started last night by WWE Monday Night RAW and SmackDown Live color commentator Corey Graves, as Corey took a shot at CM Punk following Punk’s loss at UFC 225:
Maybe abandoning everybody who stood by your side, even when we weren’t supposed to, only to have you turn your back on us wasn’t the right move after all? No anger. Only sadness.
— Corey Graves (@WWEGraves) June 10, 2018
Graves of course started taking heat from fans due to this tweet, but did not hold back in responding:
My loyalty? Oh, would you like the BEFORE? Or AFTER? I’ve got both.
I mean, one can only be shit on by their “best friend” for so long before they smarten up, no?
But it’s cool. I’m sure you love Kenny Omega. And you know more about this business and friendship than I do. 😉

Awww. Seems the “fans” are disappointed. Maybe you guys should know that “That Dude” held my first son before I did because I was on tour and I trusted him.
I had dinner with him the week after he quit.

The first rule of “punk rock” is loyalty, and this guy betrayed it all.
I still love you, “friend” and I’m sorry you got lost.

Corey has now spoken with Sean Sapp of Fightful and further clarified his CM Punk comments. Reportedly, Punk offered “ultimatums” to his friends still employed by WWE that they had to either leave the company or lose him as a friend. Graves stated:
“Well, to be honest, I’d never heard or been given that ultimatum. It kinda shocked me when I texted him about grabbing dinner because we were in Chicago and he told me he no longer had any interest in being friends with me or anybody related to WWE.
I respected his drive, and him doing his own thing. He sent me the text shortly before his first fight. Part of me just thought he was in a zone and I didn’t take offense. I texted him the day of his FIRST fight something along the lines of “I know life is nuts, I still love you good luck” Probably not verbatim, but you get the idea.
What really set me off was this week when he essentially disowned the business that made him My only issue with him was that he turned off people that actually loved and supported him. Beyond “the business” and he never wanted anything to do with us…yet continued to present himself as this “Punk” hero.”

EA’s Take: I’m with you Corey, I think CM Punk has all of his “fans” brainwashed in a sense. This was actually discussed today on Top Of The Morning Podcast Live (which you can check out here) and I am not surprised by it. Hornswoggle has also publicly talked about losing his friendship with Punk, all because he asked for a mutual friends phone number. The guy needs a psychiatrist, he can’t trust anybody and to be brutally honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if it affects his marriage some day. Or perhaps crazy just understand crazy.

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
