Since being released from the WWE back in November of last year, we’ve seen James Ellsworth staying busy on the independent scene, keeping a pretty hectic schedule and defending his Intergender Championship. For those WWE fans who plan on watching Money In The Bank this Sunday on the WWE Network, it looks like we could be seeing a return from this familiar chin (or lack thereof).

According to PWInsider, Ellsworth is currently scheduled to be at Money In The Bank in Chicago, adding that there’s been a number of creative pitches within WWE for him to make a return in some form. Currently, it’s not known if this would be just a “one-off” appearance or another long-term deal.

It should be noted, that PWInsider is also speculating that Ellsworth could get involved in the SmackDown Women’s Championship match when Carmella defends against ‘The Empress Of Tomorrow’ Asuka. Of course, Ellsworth was involved in a long-term storyline with ‘The Princess Of Staten Island’ before his release, most notably (and controversially) helping her to win the first-ever Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder match last year that led to her current title reign.

Ellsworth has since taken to Twitter to state that he will be in China on Sunday:

EA’s Take: My initial reaction is that this is likely just a one time thing, but the first time we ever saw him on WWE television was a one time thing also, so anything is definitely possible. Having him interfere and help Carmella either win or lose would make the most sense, more so helping her win in my opinion. I could see the scenario of him costing Carmella the title to get a measure of revenge, but then what’s the pay-off there if it is “one-and-done”? Also, does anyone else think him tweeting that he’ll be in China is just a smoke screen? He easily could cancel and guess what else? This show in China is at 3AM central time, 12 hour flight to Chicago, so he can be in the Windy City by 6-7PM. Very doable.
