On tonight’s episode of 205 Live on the WWE Network following the conclusion of SmackDown Live, it was revealed that NXT Superstar Lio Rush will soon be joining the roster:

The 23-year old Rush is only a 4-year pro, signing with WWE in August of last year. He’s made sporadic appearances on NXT television against the likes of Lars Sullivan and The Velveteen Dream, however is still likely most known for getting himself into some hot water. When former WWE Superstar Emma (Tenille Dashwood) was released from the company last October, an ill-timed tweet from Lio got him removed from all NXT events and would be held off television until January 10th, 2018 when he lost to the aforementioned Sullivan.

Recently, Lio had been teaming with Babatunde at NXT Live Events and has even released his own music video, as he also aspires to have a rap career along with wrestling.

EA’s Take: Love this! I just talked about how to improve 205 Live on the Top Of The Morning Podcast this past Sunday and while Lio Rush is certainly not a “name” that moves the needle, it’s another point of emphasis I had brought up. The only successful Cruiserweight Division there has ever been in America was WCW’s and a big part of that was constantly keeping things fresh by bringing in new talent. Not necessarily a revolving door, but every few months there was someone new coming in and regardless of whether said individual became a success, bringing in new faces keeps things fresh. There’s still work to do, but outside of being in a tag team, Lio is SO UNDERSIZED. 205 Live was an inevitability for him, it’s just coming surprisingly earlier than I expected, but I ain’t mad!
