The ratings for WWE’s flagship program, Monday Night RAW, saw a three week upward trend recently with last week’s post-Money In The Bank episode reaching its highest number since April 30th at a 2.903. The numbers are in for last night’s episode however and much like Goldberg at Starrcade 1998, the streak has come to an end.

Last night’s edition of the red brand has clocked in at a 2.663, its lowest since June 4th for an episode that was led off by Roman Reigns and Bobby Lashley teaming up to take on The Revival and finished up with Dolph Ziggler defending the Intercontinental Title against Seth Rollins in a tremendously entertaining main event. RAW also fell in the top 150 Cable Rankings for the 18-49 demographic this week, moving down to occupy the 3-5 spots while Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta came in at number one yet again, followed by Basketball Wives in the number two position. Surprisingly, RAW’s 10:00 hour ranked the highest of the three, which is usually the hour when most people tune out.

• June 4th: 2.526
• June 11th: 2.731
• June 18th: 2.903
• June 25th: 2.663

EA’s Take: The Summer blues strike again for RAW this week, proving (in my mind) that Money In The Bank is the most anticipated/draws the most fan interest of all the WWE’s pay-per-views that aren’t part of “The Big Four” (Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam, Survivor Series). I’ve seen a lot of negativity towards RAW’s ratings, regardless of how much they draw, so I guess I have to break it down. You CAN NOT compare ratings today to what they drew during the Attitude Era, it borders on ridiculous and you make yourself look really dumb. Ratings for EVERYTHING, no matter what the program, are down across the board. NFL, NBA, whatever it is. You’re comparing today’s product to a complete aberration in history, the most successful period for wrestling of all-time. It’s honestly just absurd. Not to mention the fact that people aren’t limited to just cable anymore to consume their favorite shows AND the fact that there are probably (at least) three times as many channels you can watch now compared to 20 years ago. Calm down, everybody. WWE is just fine and will continue to be, just wait until we’re closer to SummerSlam.
