Ja’ Von’s Weekly IMPACT YouTube Report (7/19/18)
This week’s episode of IMPACT was the go home show for Slammiversary. The show featured a face to face confrontation between IMPACT World Champion Austin Aries and the challenger Moose in the main event segment. The show also featured a video package showcasing the card for Slammiversary in the closing segment.
Here is this week’s YouTube Report (numbers collected at 5:56 pm EST):
- Pentagon Jr Kidnaps Sami Callihan and oVe: 71K views
- Austin Aries & Moose EXPLODE before SLAMMIVERSARY: 70K views
- Pentagon Jr Responds to Callihan & oVe’s Message: 62K views
- Tessa Blanchard & Shotzi Blackheart vs Kiera Hogan & Allie: 54K views
- Eddie Edwards Storms the Ring on a RAMPAGE: 46K views
- Scarlett Bordeaux Makes her IMPACT Debut NEXT WEEK: 34K views
The go home show this week was dominated by Pentagon Jr, oVe , Austin Aries and Moose. When looking at the YouTube Report this week it seems that fans enjoyed the final hype for Callihan/Pentagon Jr and Aries/Moose. Pentagon Jr and oVe take the top and third spot this week on the list. This is a good sign as these Pentagon and oVe segments are major draws for the company. Fans love to hate oVe while fans say Pentagon’s Cero Merio catchphrase along with him. This week we saw Pentagon Jr get the upperhand and momentum on oVe and Sami Callihan heading into Slammiversary.
The face to face confrontation between Austin Aries and Moose comes in at the number two spot which isn’t surprising. Moose was still angry due to Aries assaulting DeAngelo Williams last week. This eventually led to a blindside assault by Aries but Moose would get the upperhand. This week was the first time since the match was announced that we got both champion and challenger in the same place at the same time.
The Knockouts tag team match killed two birds with one stone. It allowed for Allie to pick up momentum heading into her match against Tessa Blanchard at Slammiversary and it allowed for Kiera Hogan and Shotzi Blackheart to showcase their skills. This really helped them since we haven’t seen much of Hogan since her No DQ match with Tessa and we just came off the IMPACT debut of Shotzi last week.
Overall after looking at the ratings (find that here) and now the YouTube Report IMPACT is fine heading into Slammiversary.

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
