Ja’Von’s Weekly IMPACT Wrestling YouTube Report (7/5/18)
This week’s episode of IMPACT Wrestling saw two more matches get announced for Slammiversary, a first ever match between Rich Swann and Fenix and LAX begin a civil war. All this lead to IMPACT Wrestling finally breaking 300K viewers since mid-May of this year (you can check that out here). How does an increase in viewership equal into views on YouTube? Well let’s dive on in and check it out.
Here is the weekly YouTube Report (numbers collected at 4:30pm EST):
- Homicide and Hernandez RETURN and lay waste to LAX: 281K views
- Sami Callihan Disguises Himself as Pentagon Jr. to Take Out Fenix: 137K views
- Allie & Madison Rayne vs Su Yung & Undead Bridesmaid of Honor: 78K views
- Brian Cage vs Kongo Kong: 71K views
When looking at the weekly report for this week’s show, it seems that LAX and Sami Callihan are the stars this week. Sami continues to be one of the biggest draws and heels in this industry today and anything he does turns to gold. Last week we saw Callihan take the mask of Pentagon Jr. and this week he put that mask to use by disguising as Pentagon to get the upper hand on Fenix to take his mask. Which was very brilliant and something you don’t see too much from American wrestling.
This week’s epiosde also saw Konnan call out King for attacking him back at Redemption, which lead to Homicide and Hernandez making their returns to the company. The segment ended up closing the show and it looks like we have a civil war among the two groups known as LAX. For quite some time now, LAX has just been coasting by, but now it seems they are finally doing something right that fans can’t help but have their eyes glued to and want more.
The Knockouts tag match wasn’t all that great, which is why I’m shocked to see it put these numbers up. It was okay for what it was and it got the job done.
When you think of Brian Cage vs. Kongo Kong, you think boring right? Well guess what, you’re wrong. These two heavyweights put on one hell of a slobberknocker that saw Cage hit a 619 and Kongo Kong hit a hurricanrana from the top rope.

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
