To the surprise of many fans last night, the match that closed out WWE’s Extreme Rules was not the expected Bobby Lashley vs. Roman Reigns contest, but the 30-Minute IronMan for the Intercontinental Title as Seth Rollins challenged Dolph Ziggler.

Many members of the WWE Universe have clamored for others outside of Roman Reigns to go on last at pay-per-views and the company seemingly obliged last night. The IronMan match saw some quick early falls and in the waning seconds of the bout, the score remained tied at 4-4. Despite it ending in a deadlock, RAW General Manager Kurt Angle would come out to declare the match must continue under sudden death rules. When everything commenced, a quick distraction by the previously ejected Drew McIntyre gave Ziggler an opening for what felt like a quicker pinfall to retain his championship.

Perhaps the bigger story coming out of the match though was the crowd’s constant counting whenever the timer would reach its final seconds before hitting a minute mark. At one point, the timer was even removed from the video screen in a possible effort to stop the crowd, however it only continued. There’s been a lot of other fans who weren’t too pleased with the Pittsburgh crowd’s actions and it looks like that sentiment isn’t just limited to those who were watching.

During the match, Ziggler had Rollins grounded with a sleeper hold and the Superstars had a brief conversation about the arena’s constant counting as Dolph says something to the effect of, “It’s worse than when the clock was on”, to which Rollins replies something to the nature of, “They should have just kept it on”:

EA’s Take: I’m definitely in the camp that’s not pleased with how the crowd acted. I think they just proved how inconsiderate they really are and how much WWE shouldn’t listen to them. When they finally give you what you want and you still seemingly crap on it, well you just killed any credibility you had. I don’t want to hear about the booking of the match either, it was just fine. You got two of the best workers in the world to close the show and it still wasn’t good enough.
