IMPACT News: Non-Spoiler IMPACT Preview (8/16/18)
Last week on IMPACT Eddie Edwards challenged current IMPACT World Champion Austin Aries for the IMPACT World Championship in the main event. It was during that match that Killer Kross would cost Eddie the title allowing Aries to retain. Will we hear from the new duo tonight?
Here is what’s on tap for tonight:
The OGz vs LAX( Street Fight):
This will be a rematch from the 5150 street fight that we saw between these two teams at last month’s Slammiversary PPV. In that match LAX would retain the tag titles but the OGz got the last laugh by talking the titles and tagging them. Last qeek these two meet in the ring and King laid out a challenge to LAX which leads us to tonight’s street fight.
The OGz vs. LAX.
A MUST-SEE Street Fight.
We settle this where it began THIS THURSDAY! #IMPACTonPop @SantanaLAX @Ortiz5150 @SuperMexCTM @MadKing1981 @Konnan5150 pic.twitter.com/NCyoMPZy6F

Fenix vs Sami Callihan:
Sami Callihan has been in an intense rivalry with Pentagon Jr trying to take his mask which has now involved his Lucha brother Fenix. A couple of weeks ago the Lucha Brothers defeated oVe in tag team action. Callihan is still upset about his lost to Pentagon Jr in a hair vs mask match back at Slammiversary. Tonight Sami lools to get revenge by taking on Fenix. Who will come out on top?
Allie vs Su Yung:
Allie earned her way into this match two weeks ago when she pinned the IMPACT Knockouts Champion in a tag team match. It was back at Under Pressure that Su put Allie into a coffin during a Last Rites match to win the Knockouts Championship. Allie has said on numerous occasions that she is going to be the one to take out Su. Can Allie back up her words and take out the Undead Bride?
The Smoke Show:
Scarlett Bordeaux debuted in IMPACT a few weeks ago and says that she is the smoke show and will not be hot-shamed. Last week on IMPACT Scarlett talked to IMPACT management and asked for a talk show and she got one. How will the debut of the Smoke Show go? Find out tonight on IMPACT.
Jimmy Jacobs vs Johnny Impact:
Since returning from injury Johnny Impact has been trying to get his hands on the monster Kongo Kong. Jimmy Jacobs unfortunately has been an obstacle in Impact’s path. Last week it was made offical that Impact would go one on one with Jimmy Jacobs. This will be Jacobs first match in IMPACT.
Joe Hendry vs Eli Drake:
This is a rematch from their first encounter a couple of weeks ago in Hendry’s IMPACT debut. Eli Drake has been trying to drive a wedge between Grado, Hendry, and Katerina by exposing Katerina cheating on Grado with his best friend Joe Hendry. Will the Namer of dummies avenge his lost to Hendry?
All this and more will be on tap for tonight’s show. Don’t forget to checkout my live report of the show kicking off at the top of the show.

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
