As has been noted, Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Neville, real name Benjamin Satterly, has now been released from his WWE contract (read about that here). The multi-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion walked out of the company prior to Monday Night RAW back on October 9th, 2017 after reportedly being unhappy with his position in WWE for quite some time. Since then, his WWE deal was frozen, meaning he was not able to work for any other wrestling companies.

While no details on when Neville reportedly received his release have been divulged, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline has now backed the report, stating that the release has since been confirmed by WWE. However, there has still been no official statement by the company and Neville’s profile remains on WWE.com as of this writing.

Additionally, it was also not known if ‘The King Of The Cruiserweights’ was under a 90-day no compete clause. However, Meltzer noted that Neville is a free agent and will be able to work anywhere he chooses.

EA’s Take: Something just feels off about all of this. Does that mean I think Neville’s not gone from the WWE? Not necessarily, but the lack of information is just plain weird for lack of a better term. Meltzer says WWE has confirmed Neville’s release, yet there’s been no statement, his profile is still on WWE.com…what gives? I guess it’s entirely possible that WWE wants to do this as quietly as possible, fearing backlash from fans over Neville being “stuck” for the past ten months. But at the same time, why wouldn’t they remove his WWE profile? That’s something that could be done without saying anything. Again, it’s not that I don’t buy his “official” departure, just the whole situation is strange.
