*SPOILERS* Results From Tonight’s NXT Television Tapings (8/23/18)
With last night’s episode of WWE NXT being recorded this past Saturday prior to NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, WWE’s third brand returned to its home tonight at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida for a round of NXT television tapings.
Per usual, it’s not known if the events are taped in the same order they will air on the WWE Network, however here are the results courtesy of @MrJacobCohen on Twitter:
- Dominik Dijakovic defeated Marcel Barthel
- Johnny Gargano comes out on crutches and says he not only failed the fans, but himself. General Manager William Regal makes his way out and asks if Gargano is the one behind Aleister Black’s attack. The Velveteen Dream interrupts and says he’s tired of Johnny’s whining, stating tonight isn’t about Black or Gargano, but him. Regal makes Gargano vs. The Dream for “next week”.
- Dakota Kai defeated Aliyah
- We go backstage and see Lars Sullivan laying out EC3, Sullivan then comes out for a match with Raul Mendoza, but decimates him before the bell. The match never gets started
- Keith Lee defeated Luke Menzies
- Ricochet & Pete Dunne are scheduled to face Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly, but The Undisputed Era pulls a switch and Adam Cole partners with Strong instead. Cole & Strong defeated Ricochet & Dunne. After the match The Undisputed Era beats down Ricochet & Dunne, but War Raiders make the save
- Kassius Ohno defeated Kona Reeves, then cuts a promo about how there was buzz for his return, but someone new is always coming in. Ohno says the next new man to come in, he will be waiting
- The Forgotten Sons (Steve Cutler & Wesley Blake) w/Jaxon Ryker defeated Street Profits after The Mighty interferes
- Kairi Sane defeated Trish Adora, Shayna Baszler comes out after the match and tells Kairi to enjoy her title reign now because it will end when they have a rematch. This eventually leads to a brawl between the two
- The Velveteen Dream defeated Johnny Gargano, the crowd has completely turned on Johnny and chants “Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye”
- Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch defeated Adrian Jauode & Cezar Bononi
- Tommaso Ciampa makes his way out (with new entrance music) and says he’s not the one who attacked Aleister Black, stating he would have done it on the largest scale possible. He goes on to talk about bringing the NXT Championship back to main event status. He then takes a sign from a kid in the crowd and gives it his finisher
- Shayna Baszler defeated Violet Payne
- Lars Sullivan defeated Raul Mendoza
- Bianca Belair vs. Nikki Cross ends in a double count-out when they brawl all over the arena
- Aliyah & Lacey Evans defeated Dakota Kai & Deonna Purrazzo

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
