WWE News: Seth Rollins Talks Dean Ambrose’s Injury, The Shield & More
WWE Superstar Seth Rollins has been touring China this week to promote WWE’s upcoming show in Shanghai in September, when he did a phone interview with the South China Morning Post. Many topics were discussed, including the Dean Ambrose injury when Rollins said this:
“Not that I would wish injury on Ambrose at all, but that was something that lit a fire underneath me. It’s definitely been a blessing in disguise for my singles career.
Yeah, it’s been a really good year for me. Honestly, you look at my body of work from SummerSlam last year to SummerSlam this year – I really don’t think there’s anybody on the main roster, aside from an AJ Styles give or take, that can compare with what I’ve done.”
These comments seem to be pretty inflammatory and a lot of Ambrose/Shield fans were not too happy with Rollins over this. However, these were not the full comments. This is his full comment about Dean Ambrose:
“Being part of the Shield is a special thing, any time the three of us are healthy and in the same place we can get into some trouble.
Not that I would wish injury on Ambrose at all, but that was something that lit a fire underneath me. It’s definitely been a blessing in disguise for my singles career.”
“It was like OK, I’ve got to kind of refocus, reset my priorities and move forward. I was presented with some cool opportunities early in the year.”
He also discussed his Intercontinental Title run, how much main eventing Extreme Rules meant to him, and his plans once he regains the Intercontinental Championship, including possibly challenging Roman Reigns in a Champion vs Champion situation if Reigns beats Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title at SummerSlam.

Tiff’s Take: My original theory was that this was a work to lay the groundwork for a Rollins/Ambrose feud. Except that after smelling something fishy and doing some more research, I found out that those were NOT the full comments. The part in bold was not included in fansite coverage, nor was the Shield comment, but I included that to give context to what was being discussed. Taken in their full context, Rollins’ comments still don’t sound great, but they aren’t as awful and selfish as they originally seemed. I work for a fansite, I totally get the need to generate clicks for your articles, clicks equal revenue which helps pay to keep the website going, but what was done with Rollins’ comments by some is the biggest load of BS I’ve seen in a long time. The original article wasn’t hard to find, so the sites that published this can’t say they couldn’t read the whole interview to get the context of his comments, and to have gotten the comments they did, SOMEONE must’ve read the same article I did, so there’s no excuse for not publishing the FULL comments except to get clicks and stir the pot. I get that most of us who write for fansites aren’t professional journalists, but we still need to have some journalistic integrity when reporting on a wrestler’s comments. You don’t have to be a fan of a wrestler or like them as people, but you at least owe it them to be fair when reporting on them.

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
