WWE News: SmackDown Live Event Results Florence, SC, Tye Dillinger Injured (8/12/18)
With WWE’s RAW brand wrapping up its weekend Live Events last night in Roanoke, Virginia, the Superstars of SmackDown Live were on tour for a show in Florence, South Carolina with one more remaining tonight before tomorrow’s new episode of the blue brand.
Fans in attendance were treated to a number of big matches, including some that we will be seeing this coming Sunday at SummerSlam in Brooklyn. WWE Champion AJ Styles met his SummerSlam challenger Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy challenged Shinsuke Nakamura for the United States Title, plus more great action including Carmella defending the SmackDown Women’s Title against Asuka. Unfortunately for one Superstar, they didn’t come away from the event unscathed as ‘The Perfect 10’ Tye Dillinger suffered an injury after taking a nasty fall off the top turnbuckle to the outside which rendered him unconscious and forced his match against Shelton Benjamin to be cut short. We will provide more details on Dillinger as they become available, but here are the results from last night’s show:
- The New Day defeated The Bar
- Shelton Benjamin defeated Tye Dillinger by Count-Out when Dillinger took a fall to the floor and was knocked out
- Rusev & Lana defeated Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas & Zelina Vega
- United States Title: Shinsuke Nakamura retained over Jeff Hardy
- SmackDown Women’s Title: Asuka defeated Carmella by DQ after interference
- Asuka, Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair defeated Carmella & The IIconics
- SmackDown Tag Titles: The Bludgeon Brothers retained over Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson
- WWE Title: AJ Styles retained over Samoa Joe

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
