As has been noted, now-former WWE Superstar Neville, real name Benjamin Satterly, was finally released from his contract with the company recently after he walked out of Monday Night RAW last October. Of course, we all know that Neville’s contract with WWE had been frozen, leaving him unable to appear or work for any other promotions until his release was granted.

While WWE has yet to give any official comments about Neville’s release from the company, some had been wondering if this may all be an elaborate work, as his profile on WWE.com remained. However, that has now since been removed and as previously reported, he is free to work for anyone at this time (read about that here).

As for why it took so long for Neville to be freed of his WWE contract, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that the reason WWE waited so long is because they didn’t want to set a precedent. Meaning, they did not want to give Neville what he wanted, the feeling being that other Superstars who might want out in the future could walk out on the company and simply have their release granted, leaving them open to go right to another promotion such as New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Currently, the latest speculation is that New Japan Pro Wrestling is likely where Neville will end up. As for the use of the Neville name, that is owned by WWE and he would not be allowed to use it unless some sort of agreement was made.
