This past Sunday at SummerSlam, the event kicked off with a tremendous Intercontinental Championship match that saw Seth Rollins regain the title over Dolph Ziggler after having Dean Ambrose in his corner was able to neutralize Drew McIntyre on the outside. Following that, The Bludgeon Brothers defended the SmackDown Tag Team Titles against The New Day in another excellent contest. Unfortunately for the challengers though, Rowan utilized his mallet to cause a disqualification just when it seemed like the championships were about to change hands.

According to PWInsider, Rowan was legitimately injured during the bout with the speculation being it’s a biceps injury, although that has yet to be confirmed. Of course, The Bludgeon Brothers are scheduled to be challenged again by The New Day for the titles tonight on SmackDown Live in a No Disqualification match.

Due to Rowan’s injury, there’s been a lot of talk that tonight’s match was made as a way to get the titles off of The Bludgeon Brothers, but of course at this time that’s just speculation. There’s still been no word on the severity of Rowan’s injury and some are taking tonight’s match as an indication that he is not injured. However, it should be noted that a biceps injury is something that we’ve seen Superstars work through in the past before taking time off, most notably Rey Mysterio back at No Way Out 2008 who was dealing with a torn biceps.
