Just over three weeks ago now, a lot of wrestling fans rejoiced as former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville was finally granted his release from the company. Of course Neville, real name Benjamin Satterly, walked away from the company at a Monday Night RAW taping in October 2017 after reportedly being unhappy with his position for months.

While it took nearly a year for Neville to get the release he wanted, it has yet to be seen where he will show up next. Reportedly, when Neville was cut loose from WWE he was not under a No Compete clause and was free to work anywhere (read about that here). Now, a new report is stating that may not exactly be the case.

The latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that while Neville has been in contact with independent promoters, he’s telling them that he can’t yet accept any bookings, but will be soon. Of course, this goes against the original belief that he was free and clear.

EA’s Take: Everything that’s surrounded this entire situation with Neville and the WWE has been strange from the start, so this is no exception. The only sense I can make of it is perhaps Neville has already signed with someone else. For example, if he signed with New Japan Pro Wrestling, maybe they would like to get him debuted and scheduled out before he begins taking other dates. Kind of a dart throw, but it makes sense. More specifically, this would help keep surprise debut rumors quiet for the time being. Hey, it could it happen.
