EA’s Weekly RAW YouTube Report (10/1/18)
As we all know, social media and other outlets have become a huge means of drawing in interaction and viewers for WWE. Most people will point to television ratings like they did during the Monday Night Wars in the late 1990’s, however that can be skewed with so many various means of watching today that do not include cable television.
As you’ve become accustomed to, here is this week’s RAW YouTube Report (2:30 PM EST, 10/1/18):
- The Undertaker & Kane lay out Shawn Michaels & Triple H – 3.5 million views
- Dean Ambrose’s loyalty to The Shield is questioned – 1.8 million views
- Ronda Rousey vs. Ruby Riott – 1.5 million views
- Roman Reigns vs. Dolph Ziggler – 1.1 million views
- Dean Ambrose vs. Braun Strowman – 875k views
- Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre – 668k views
- Elias & Kevin Owens get showered with boos – 387k views
The Shield’s streak at the top of our YouTube reports ends this week with the main event segment that saw The Undertaker and Kane drop Shawn Michaels and Triple H with Chokeslams. As we’ve seen over the past few weeks, legends draw and for every fan that thinks these guys are taking away time from the younger talent, there is probably 2-3 more people who are interested. With all of this leading to Michaels’ eventual ring return, any time you put these four together it will top the YouTube charts.
They may not be at number one this week, but that doesn’t mean The Shield’s presence isn’t felt as they take home spots 2, 4, 5 and 6 this week. You’ve got your usual strong showing from Roman Reigns, but the angle surrounding Dean Ambrose’s possible turn is the reoccurring theme for the night once again, helping Ambrose slide into the numbers two and five spots. Does anybody else feel like Rollins is the one becoming a little bit of the “odd man out”?
Returning to RAW this week means returning near the top of our rankings for RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey, giving us a preview of Super Show-Down on Saturday in a one-on-one match against Ruby Riott. Due to how Shield-heavy the red brand has been in recent weeks, this is probably the least interesting feud Ronda’s been involved with, but her name value is of the caliber that loads of people will still check in on YouTube to see what she’s up to. I’d imagine her numbers will get stronger again once the build to Evolution starts, especially if she faces Nikki Bella like it seems.
With The Shield dominating again this week, that leaves only one more spot in our countdown with quite possibly the most entertaining segment of the night. Kevin Owens and Elias were able to get heat from the Seattle crowd that you almost never hear any more, which thus led to people talking about it. Word of mouth is always a good thing for YouTube clips and while this one doesn’t get a strong showing, its good enough to beat out every other video including the follow-up match with Owens facing Bobby Lashley.

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
