CMLL Coverage

Atlantis, David Finlay, and Hijo De LA Park vs La Bestia del Ring, Okumura, and Rey Bucanero

Hechicero and Shocker were on the billing for this match but they’re not here. Very rare of CMLL to do that but they usually don’t so they get the benefit of the doubt unlike AAA. Atlantis and Bucanero start off in the ring grappling. Hijo and Okumura come in next and they tie up. They attempt to do some chain wrestling. Bestia gets in with Finlay and almost immediately brawls break out. They beat up on Finlay and finally Park gets in with Bestia. But soon after Park gets teamed on till Bestia throws him out of the ring. Atlantis makes his way in to try his hand. Bestia tries to power bomb Park into Finlay and Atlantis but he botches badly. They end up triple drop kicking all of them in the corner. Bestia pins Park and Okumura pins David Finlay. First Fall: Okumura pins Finlay with a corner drop kick.

Second fall starts with Atlantis getting teamed on. Next up is David Finlay, he gets kicked to the outside. Atlantis fights back and makes a come back. Park hits a hurricanrana on Bucanero and then hits a code breaker on Okumura. David Finlay hits a stunner on Bucanero for the fall. Second Fall: David Finlay pins Bucanero with a stunner.

In between the rounds Atlantis is beating on Bestia on the ramp.

Finlay and Bucanero start out. He gets Finlay out and Park comes in and Okumura does too so Park gets a double arm drag on both. He gets Okumura out of there and hits a hurricanrana on Bucanero. He then feigns a dive. Atlantis and Bestia are in the ring. Atlantis hits them all with hip tosses. Park and Finlay both get pins for close 2 counts. Park hits a cross body on Rey and Okumura. He launches Finlay into them and then they both hit dives to the outside. In the ring Atlantis hits a hurricanrana pinning combination for the win on Bestia. Third Fall: Atlantis pins Bestia del Ring with a hurricanrana.

Winners: Atlantis, David Finlay, and El Hijo de LA Park

LA Park, Mistico, and Volador Jr vs Hechicero, Cavernario, and The Chris

Okay so Hechicero is in this match meaning Cibernetico and Shocker were late scratches for the show. That’s fine, it should be fine. There is some posturing to start the match but Mistico and Hechicero start in the ring doing some grappling. Cavernario tries to interfere but LA Park catches him. Mistico and Hechicero continue to do some elaborate wrestling. The Chris tries to interfere when Mistico gets him in a submission but Park and Volador kick him to the outside.

Mistico gets him in an arm bar which Cavernario breaks up, then Park hits him with a big head butt. Everyone gets in the ring for a 6 man suplex spot which is kind of messed up but still gets the job done. Mistico then does an asai moonsault to the outside while Park and Volador hit middle rope dives. All three of them go for pinning combinations once they get back in the ring for the fall. First Fall: Park, Mistico, and Volador pin Hechicero, Cavernario, and The Chris with pinning combinations.

To start the second round they posture some with the midget and Chris challenges him to do push ups. Volador gets in there and he runs wild on the other team. Volador hits a head scissors take over on Cavernario then hits a hurricanrana to the outside. Park gets in there with the Chris. They do some comedy spots, like cartoonish like spots and it leads to them taking him to the outside to leave Volador and Cavernario in the ring. Cavernario attacks the midget but Volador saves him. Hechicero draped Park on the barricade and then hit him with an axe handle. Cavernario hits a drop kick off the top then hits his springboard splash for the pin on Volador. Hechicero hits Mistico with a spinning back breaker and the Chris pins him. Second Fall: The Chris pins Mistico after Hechicero hits him with a spinning back breaker.

In between the rounds Cavernario hits the midget with the springboard splash. What a damn rudo. To start the third round Mistico got teamed on. After that they took out Volador to team up on Park. Cavernario started going for his mask. Cavernario gets it off then punches it back on his face. Park fumbles the mask a bit in the corner. A good camera man could have quickly snapped a pic of his super crazy like face. In the mean time Hechicero removes his belt. Park comes out the corner and hits a single leg drop kick on the Chris while arm dragging Cavernario. Impressive.

Volador launches Mistico from the ramp into a hurricanrana on Hechicero. He then hits a dive on Hechicero. Park hits a big back stabber on the Chris while Volador hits a leg drop on Cavernario for a close two. The Chris hits a DDT on Park which actually knocks his mask off. Park is very bad at attempting to hide his face. Side note, I wonder if Ciber isn’t in this match because Park was very upset with him last week for not taking his moves right. Park and Volador get Chris and Cavernario to the outside then try to feign dives but they’re pulled out.

Mistico hits a hurricanrana to the outside off the top rope on Hechicero. Park is back in the ring with the Chris. He catches Volador off the top and tries to double team attack with Cavernario but he moves, and then Volador hits a canadian destroyer for the pin. Park then hits a spear on Cavernario for the win. Third Fall: LA Park pins Cavernario with a spear.

Winners: LA Park, Volador Jr, and Mistico

Michael Elgin vs Ultimo Guerrero

They start out the match chain wrestling. They spend time staring each other down as well before they engage. They do some good grappling on the ground, Elgin stops Guerrero from getting a surfboard submission. Elgin hits a drop kick on Guerrero then hits a middle rope dive to the outside. During the match they promote the heavyweight championship final on Tuesday between Ultimo Guerrero and Diamante Azul. I wonder if they’ll include Elgin in that title in the future. Elgin is know beating up on Guerrero on the outside. Elgin hits a nice delay suplex then starts chopping him in the corner. He mocks Guerrero’s pose and then misses a corner splash. Guerrero then gets him for a neck stretch for the fall. First Fall: Ultimo Guerrero submits Elgin with a neck stretch.

Second round starts with Mike getting over on him until Guerrero gets him on the apron and drop kicks him off. He throws him over the barricade and dives onto him but Mike catches him and throws him over the barricade. Mike stands on the barricade and hits a senton roll. He then hits a sit out power bomb for the fall. Second Fall: Michael Elgin pins Ultimo Guerrero with a sit out power bomb.

In between rounds the commission checks on Guerrero as he sells like he is super dazed. Guerrero tries to clothesline Elgin but can’t get him down. Elgin hits a super kick and then a german suplex. He goes up on the ramp and sets up for a power bomb on the ramp which he hits. Then he mocks Ultimo Guerrero’s pose again. Guerrero is crawling back to the ring to avoid being counted out. Mike kicks his legs up on the turnbuckle arrogantly posing. He hits him with a sit out razor’s edge and Guerrero some how kicks out. He postures to the crowd to start getting behind him.

Elgin tries for a suplex off the top but Guerrero reverses it into a front face buster off the top for a close two. I think Diamante Azul and Guerrero will have a fine match for the heavyweight championship but I can’t help but feel this should have been the match for it. Guerrero gets pumped and chops Elgin in the corner. Elgin runs the ropes and hits a hurricanrana on Guerrero to the outside and then hits an over the top flip to the outside. He’s busting out impressive lucha libre here in Mexico.

He body slams Guerrero then goes to the top. He hits a weak corkscrew attack for a close 2. Elgin puts him on the top and goes for a hurricanrana but Guerrero reverses it into a top rope power bomb for a very close two count. Now Guerrero puts Elgin on the top but Elgin knocks him off. Elgin hits a code breaker. I think he meant to do something else. Elgin does a nice front kick, super kick, jumping enziguri combo. Then hits a stall german suplex for a close two. He then hits a tiger suplex for another close two count.

Elgin looks perplexed as to how he hasn’t put him away yet. He body slams him again and goes to the top but Guerrero stops him. He hits what the announcers called Guerrero Special off the top. It was like a reverse vertical suplex where he lands face first on the mat. He wins with that. Third Fall: Ultimo Guerrero pins Elgin with a reverse vertical suplex off the top.

The crowd throws in money after the match. I agree, it was a very good match. Elgin says he loves Mexico and he respects Ultimo Guerrero. Guerrero raises his hand afterwards. Elgin could probably work as a good baby face here. He proved he can work there style and he puts on great matches.

Winner: Ultimo Guerrero
