In case you don’t remember, back in late-July it was noted that the WWE contracts of former New Japan Pro Wrestling stars AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson were all coming up in early-2019 after signing three year deals (see the story here).

A few weeks later, Nakamura spoke with Sky Sports and spoke about the possibility of leaving WWE to go back to New Japan, implying that moving to the US was a big decision for him to make initially (check that out here). Now that we’re in October, the closer we get to expiring contracts and with no recent news of any of the four re-signing, the door is open for some of them to go back to Japan.

On the recent Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that NJPW is interested in bringing back Nakamura, Gallows and Anderson should they become available. Currently, there’s been speculation that Gallows may be looking to go back, but it’s nothing more than just that…speculation. The belief when it comes to Shinsuke, who is the current WWE United States Champion, is that he’s “settled in” after moving his family to the United States in 2016 when he signed with the company.

As for Karl Anderson, it was also added that he is likely to stay put to take care of his family, especially since he has a relatively newborn baby.

EA’s Take: I still don’t see any of them going anywhere. I thought Shinsuke might be the most likely since it’s his home country, but the family’s all here now and that’s another big decision to make after just three years. And can you imagine Gallows going to Japan without Anderson? I certainly can’t see him choosing to split them up not necessarily as a team, but what would Gallows do without his other “Good Brother”?
