Now that Glory By Honor weekend is wrapped up, next up for Ring Of Honor is Chris Jericho’s Cruise, Steel City Excellence, Survival Of The Fittest and the 2018 Global Wars tour with New Japan Pro Wrestling.

This year’s Global Wars will kick off at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine on November 7th, but no names had been announced as of yet. Yesterday, that changed as ROH announced that former IWGP Intercontinental Champion Tetsuya Naito as the first competitor and then today followed up by revealing another member of Los Ingobernables de Japon for the tour:

The dark and mysterious EVIL from New Japan Pro-Wrestling makes his return to Ring of Honor when the two companies join forces for November’s Global Wars tour, which will be streamed LIVE for HonorClub.

A member of Los Ingobernables de Japon, one of the top factions in the sport, EVIL is one of NJPW’s fastest-rising stars. He is a former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champion, NEVER Openweight Champion and three-time NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champion.

Over the summer, EVIL had a strong showing in the G1 Climax tournament, scoring victories over the likes of then-IWGP U.S. Champion Jay White and “Hangman” Adam Page and pushing eventual winner Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada to the limit.

Formerly known as Takaaki Watanabe, he wrestled regularly for ROH in 2014 and 2015 and has returned for sporadic appearances every year since. At the Death Before Dishonor international TV taping in Las Vegas last month, EVIL teamed with SANADA in a Four Corner Survival Tag Team Match against The Young Bucks, The Addiction and Best Friends. The match aired on this week’s episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling.”

Global Wars events have been must-see shows since their inception four years ago. All roads now lead to the ROH/NJPW G1 Supercard at Madison Square Garden in New York City on April 6, 2019, and what transpires on the Global Wars shows could play a significant role in what the historic card looks like.
