He snapmares Shane over and hooks on a chinlock, Shane-O-Mac battles back to his feet, Rollins clubs him back down, hits the ropes and gets elevated by a back body drop. Tags on both sides, Ambrose with running forearms to Owens, irish whip to the ropes is reversed, Dean flattens him with a clothesline, crushes him in the corner with another forearm, then looks to follow with a running bulldog. KO pushes him into the opposite corner to avoid it, charges in with a corner clothesline, measures for the Cannonball, but The Lunatic Fringe explodes up with a clothesline.
He knocks Jericho off the apron, The Prize Fighter heads outside to get away, Dean builds a head of steam and takes flight with a suicide dive, then sends KO back inside. He heads up top, jumps over the top of Owens, gets caught by a superkick, The Prize Fighter sends him to the ropes for a Pop-Up Powerbomb, but it’s reversed into a hurricanrana. The Lunatic Fringe tries Dirty Deeds, Jericho steps in to break it up, everybody takes to the ring now and Strowman makes a blind tag as we have a stand-off. Chaos erupts ad there’s fighting everywhere, Dean slingshots to the outside after Braun gets caught in the air, Styles slingshots over the top with a forearm to take him out. Owens rolls into the ring and goes to the high rent district, takes to the air with a somersault senton.
Shane ascends the corner, Braun hops up to the apron and pushes him down to the mat, steps inside and hammers him with the heavy artillery. Ambrose & AJ roll in and double team him, Shane with a clothesline that sends himself & Strowman to the outside, Roman & Rollins sliding in the ring, but Styles & Dean hold them off. They exchange words and start pushing and shoving, Shane tries to break them apart, but Ambrose attacks The Phenomenal One. Wyatt has some words for Strowman, Jericho steps in to try and talk some sense into him, Braun grabs Y2J by the throat, then Bray and throws Jericho to the mat.
He levels Bray with a clothesline, hits him with back elbows in the corner, hits the ropes and The Eater Of Worlds is sent to the outside after a Strowman dropkick. Braun goes out in pursuit and starts to clear off the German announce table, The Viper comes running around ringside and RKOs him on the table. Bray & Orton clear off another announce table and hold Strowman on it, Shane-O-Mac climbs to the top rope, takes flight and crashes through Braun with an elbow drop. Rollins & Reigns meet Orton & Wyatt to trade-off punches, Styles picks up Shane to put him back in the ring and the referee counts Braun out as Ellsworth holds him from getting inside. Braun Strowman has been eliminated.

He sends Jericho to the ropes for a dropkick, The Ayatollah of Rock & Rollah hangs on to avoid it, springs off the 2nd rope with the Lionsault, covers and Shane surprises him with a small package for a near fall. Y2J quickly connects with a Codebreaker, Orton steps in and eats one for his troubles, Jericho hooks the leg on Shane, but still can only get 2.
Tag to Rollins now, Seth puts the boots to the Commissioner, shoots him into his corner and Y2J gets another tag. The Architect with a body slam to Shane, Jericho comes off the top with a splash that’s off-target, Shane crawls to his corner and tags out. AJ steps in with clotheslines for Jericho, hits a jumping one in the corner, scores with the Ushigaroshi, lateral press and a count of 2. The Phenomenal One hooks Y2J for the Styles Clash, The Ayatollah of Rock & Rollah counters into the Walls Of Jericho, AJ blocks it, picks the leg and slaps on the Calf Crusher. Jericho grabs a handful of hair and slams Styles’ head into the mat to escape, tries the Walls Of Jericho again, The Phenomenal One grabs a small package to reverse it and gains a near fall.
Both guys back up quick, Styles with rapid fire strikes, knocks Owens off the apron, Y2J goes for a roll-up from behind, AJ rolls through and hooks him for the Styles Clash. KO rolls in the ring and cracks The Phenomenal One with the List Of Jericho, shoots him to the ropes and plants him with a Pop-Up Powerbomb, the official telling him he’s disqualified. Kevin Owens has been eliminated. Y2J argues with the referee, picks up all the pages of The List, Styles makes a tag behind his back, Orton sneaks in with an RKO and covers for the pinfall. Chris Jericho has been eliminated. The Architect takes the ring, Randy goes to the midsection with kicks, Rollins battles back with punches, knocks Wyatt off the apron, hits the ropes and Orton delivers a powerslam for a 2 count.
The New Face Of Fear tags in, charges Seth in the corner for a splash, covers and gets a count of 2. He chokes Rollins on the bottom rope, The Viper re-enters the match, stomps away, props Seth on the top turnbuckle, The Architect trying to fight his way down to no avail. The Apex Predator climbs up and hits a superplex, both guys crawl to tags and Roman comes in with multiple clotheslines to AJ. He decks Bray on the apron, Orton slides in and gets planted by a Samoan Drop, Wyatt comes in and takes one for getting involved, Styles charging in and Reigns hits him with a pop-up Samoan Drop. He powers The Phenomenal One up and plants him with a sit-out crucifix powerbomb for a 2 count, gets in position for a Superman Punch, Styles catches him in mid-air with an enzuigiri and tags out.
Shane comes in with a barrage of lefts and rights, The Big Dog returns the favor with an uppercut, swings wildly with a clothesline that misses and Shane-O-Mac spikes him with a DDT. Rollins springboards in with a high knee, Shane ducks under it, flattens him with a clothesline, blocks a kick and delivers a spinebuster. Roman staggers back to his feet, Shane sends him shoulder-first into the ring post, rolls out to the apron on the other side and climbs to the top turnbuckle. He comes off for the Coast To Coast, Reigns splits him in mid-air with a Spear, covers and gets the 3 count. Shane McMahon has been eliminated. Doctors come in to check on Shane, finally get him out of the ring, meanwhile Team SmackDown puts the boots to Roman & Seth on the outside.
The Eater Of Worlds throws Reigns back in, slides inside and hits a running senton, hooks the leg and gains a 2 count. Tag to Orton, he clobbers The Big Dog with boots and uppercuts in the corner, brings Bray back in and he rushes Reigns in the corner. Roman explodes out with a clothesline, both guys crawl to tags, The Architect with a clothesline to AJ, knocks Randy off the apron, goes to the 2nd rope and plants Styles with a blockbuster. He rushes him in the corner and gets elevated over the top, Rollins lands on his feet, connects with an enzuigiri, springboards in and lays AJ out with a high knee. The Architect hits the ropes and flies outside with a suicide dive to Wyatt, rolls back in and crushes The Phenomenal One in the corner with forearms, props him on the top turnbuckle for a superplex.
Styles slips out between the legs and runs in, Seth back body drops him over the top, AJ lands on his feet on the apron, climbs up top, but gets decked by a roundhouse kick. Rollins scales the corner and hits a superplex, rolls through into a falcon arrow, hooks the leg, but The Apex Predator stops the count at 2. He tries to deposit Seth to the outside, Rollins turns the table and dumps Orton to the floor, builds a head of steam for a suicide dive, but Randy meets him with a forearm shot. He drapes Seth over the apron, hooks him for the elevated DDT to the floor, The Big Dog comes around ringside and prevents it with a right hand. He puts the boots to The Viper, Seth joins in on the action, Rollins & Reigns are on the same page and they clear off the Spanish announce table.
The Architect lifts Orton up, Styles attacks Roman from behind, clocks Rollins with a series of strikes, rolls into the ring and Ambrose comes sprinting out from the back. He ambushes AJ from behind, a group of referees try to get him away, but The Lunatic Fringe rolls outside and drives Styles into the ring steps. Security comes out and start to drag Dean away, Rollins & Reigns clear them out of Ambrose’s way, then drive The Phenomenal One through the table with a triple powerbomb. Rollins throws AJ inside, hooks the leg and covers for the 1-2-3. AJ Styles has been eliminated. Referees finally get Ambrose to head to the back, Seth & Roman stand back-to-back in the squared circle, Orton & Bray surrounding them.
Luke Harper appears from under the ring to create a distraction, Wyatt & Randy ambushing Seth & Reigns from behind. Roman & Orton fight to the outside, Harper cracks The Big Dog with a superkick behind the ref’s back, Seth planting Wyatt with a sling blade in the ring, then flies over the top with a somersault plancha to Harper. He rolls back inside and hammers Bray with a forearm in the corner, The Viper slides in, misses with a clothesline, Seth sends him into the corner and gets ready to charge in. Wyatt cuts him off with a roll-up, The Architect rolls through it, connects with a superkick, ascends the corner to the top rope for a frog splash, but Orton catches him in mid-air with an RKO and Wyatt covers. Seth Rollins has been eliminated.
Roman’s left by himself now, Wyatt charges in for a clothesline, Reigns ducks it, delivers a Superman Punch to Orton, then dumps Bray to the outside. The Big Dog goes out after him, The Viper gets involved and clocked by uppercuts, Reigns sends him into the steps, then drives Bray into the barricade. He drills The Eater Of Worlds with a Drive-By and throws him in the ring, Harper tries to catch him with a big boot, Reigns avoids it and splits him with a Spear. He slides into the ring, Wyatt grabs him for Sister Abigail, Roman blocks it, gets pushed away and lays him out with a Superman Punch. He sets for the Spear, The New Face Of Fear rises to his feet, Randy slides in and pushes him out of way, getting Speared instead. Wyatt quickly delivers Sister Abigail, hooks the leg and finishes it.
Winners & Sole Survivors: Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton
- EA’s Take: Easily the best Traditional match of the night. Maybe it’s just me, but it seems there have been some sloppy spots in all of them though. I think we are seeing how much familiarity with your opponent is important because these guys don’t all work together anymore and that’s possibly why there have been some rough spots. Shane looked like he was legit knocked out, he actually kicked out when he got eliminated, likely doing so just out of instinct because I don’t think he knew where he was. After two wins by RAW tonight, SmackDown picking up the victory here seemed inevitable.
Match #6: Brock Lesnar w/Paul Heyman vs. Goldberg
The bell rings and Brock powers Goldberg into the corner, Goldberg is unfazed, shoves Lesnar to the canvas, then delivers a Spear as he stands back up. Goldberg measures and splits him with another Spear, The Conqueror struggles back to his feet, Goldberg hooks him for a Jackhammer and hits it for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Goldberg
- EA’s Take: What in the world?!?! I can’t believe that this match just ended like this and I may be in the minority here, but this is a total let-down. We all anticipated we’d get a better match than WrestleMania XX, but I don’t know that I can say we did. Was the crowd into it? Hell yes. Was it way too quick in my opinion? Hell yes. This makes me think that perhaps Goldberg may not be finished in the ring for good. Honestly, I am still in shock at how this played out. What an easy payday for Lesnar & Goldberg.
EA’s Finisher: Overall, I’m pretty disappointed with this entire show. The traditional matches were exactly what I thought they’d be, which if you’ve seen any of them over the years of Survivor Series, you’ve pretty much seen them all. Goldberg/Lesnar was a complete let-down in my eyes. It was like we were in the midst of Goldberg’s streak again, the match finishing in less than three minutes. No title changes which I expected, but I thought we’d at least get some surprises, like perhaps an Undertaker appearance or something. I never was a big fan of this “brand warfare” stuff from the beginning and I am looking forward to getting back to the brand-exclusive events next month.

Chris King Looks Back at WWE Clash In The Castle 2022
With WWE Clash In Italy fast approaching, Chris King looks back at the first Clash In The Castle!
With WWE Clash In Italy fast approaching, Chris King looks back at the first Clash In The Castle!
We are a few weeks away from WWE Clash In Italy PLE, which airs on May 31st. Chris King has gone back to look at the 2022 Clash At The Castle PLE and the matches with the most important future implications.
Alexa Bliss, Asuka, and Bianca Belair vs. Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Iyo Sky
All six superstars started the match in front of this wild UK crowd. The babyfaces took advantage early with a triple suplex, and Bianca Bel-Air hit her patented springboard moonsault and covered Bayley, Iyo Sky, and Dakota Kai for a near fall. Alexa Bliss and Sky got the match going with some fast-paced offense. Bliss hit their Glitz Flip, and Sky tagged in the leader of Damage Control. Despite the crowd chanting for Bayley, “I wanna know, will you be my girl?” the methodical heel would purposely tag out for most of this match.
Bliss hit a beautiful sunset flip powerbomb and covered Sky, but Kai was the legal participant, so she ate a huge kick. Asuka and Sky now went toe-to-toe with some incredibly fast-paced action (I can’t wait to watch their match at Backlash); these two have insane chemistry. The crowd wanted the Raw Women’s Champion and Bayley tagged in. The EST is showcasing her raw power over all of Damage Control. The babyfaces looked to rally after a superplex off of Belair’s back. The heels took advantage of the numbers game; Kai hit her signature Kaio Kick, Bayley delivered Rose Plant, and Sky hit her picture-perfect moonsault. Bayley got the huge victory for Damage Control!
- This was a breakout performance for the new dangerous trio “Damage Control.” Bayley was such a genius changing the theme music so the crowd couldn’t sing it. That’s Heel 101. Bayley tagging out and not giving the UK crowd what they wanted was brilliant.
- Bayley, Dakota Kai, and Iyo Sky would run roughshod on SmackDown for the entire year with some amazing performances, including headlining WarGames. The Damage Control storyline would continue through the next two years, and Bayley would ultimately win the Women’s
Championship from Iyo Sky at WrestleMania 40.
Gunther VS. Sheamus (Intercontinental Championship)
Ludwig Kaiser introduced Giovanni Vinci, bringing back together Imperium as ‘The Ring General’ made his way down to the ring. The bell rang, and the punishment began as Sheamus’s chest was already red. Gunter chopped ‘The Celtic Warrior’ right off the turnbuckle to the outside. The challenger was writhing in pain as Gunther locked in a Boston Crab.
Sheamus was fighting for his life to become a grand-slam champion here, taking all of the champions’ brutality. Gunther delivered a nasty bodyslam to Sheamus on the outside. The Celtic Warrior was finally able to deliver The 10 Beats of the Bodhran for a count of twelve.
Midway through the match, both the champion and the challenger got into a slugfest, and Sheamus hit a loud knee strike for a two-count! Sheamus delivered White Noise for another near-fall. The entire UK crowd was on their feet as the Brogue Kick was countered;
Gunther hit his patented dropkick into the corner. Sheamus lifted Gunther up for the Celtic Cross from the turnbuckle for a count of 2.99! The Celtic Warrior tried to go for the brogue kick, but his back gave out. The Intercontinental Champion delivered a powerbomb followed by a colossal lariat to retain his prestigious title.
Sheamus got a standing ovation from the raucous UK crowd despite his loss. He may not have won the intercontinental title, but he won their respect!
- Both Brutes stood in the middle of the ring, staring at each other without throwing a punch as their faction members fought to solidify a singles match with no interference. That was so brilliant and creative to see. As soon as the match got underway, both superstars beat the holy hell of each other for 20+ minutes.
- ‘The Ring General’ would have the longest reign of 666 days in WWE history as Intercontinental Champion, defeating the likes of Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, and Chad Gable. He would eventually lose to Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 40, but Gunther has the bar so high with such an amazing reign.
Edge & Rey Mysterio VS. The Judgement Day
Finn Balor and Rey Mysterio started the tag team match with some hard chops in the corner. Mysterio bounced back with some head-scissors takedown, and Damien Priest tagged in and clocked Edge with a nasty right hand. ‘The Rated-R Superstar was all fired up with some quick offense, sending Mysterio onto both JD members on the outside.
Priest and Balor utilized the numbers game to take out their opponents with a leg drop and some double-team maneuvers. Mysterio had taken a lot of punishment and wanted to make the tag to Edge, but Priest prevented the tag with a big boot.
The former leader of the JD came in firing on all cylinders, hitting some clotheslines and nailing Balor with an Edgecution. The UK crowd was going wild for Edge as he delivered his tag-partner’s signature 619, followed by a splash from Mysterio for a near-fall.
Edge intercepted a chokeslam attempt on Mysterio with a spear to the outside! Dominik interfered to help his dad hit a sunset flip powerbomb, and Rhea Ripley made him pay. Mysterio and Edge ensured the victory with a 619 and a picture-perfect Spear!
Following the match, Dominik would low-blow Edge and take his father’s head off with a wicked clothesline. This was the last time he was side-by-side with his father for the foreseeable future in WWE.
- Edge was trying to get comeuppance on the faction he helped create and was kicked out of. The Judgment Day had been targeting and terrorizing Rey’s son Dominik for months now, who was at ringside. ‘The Rated-R Superstar would ultimately get his revenge on JD at WrestleMania 39, when he faced “The Demon” Finn Balor inside Hell in a Cell.
- This was the birth of Dirty Dom, after being jealous of his dad choosing Edge as his tag partner instead of him. After the match, Dominik gave Edge a low blow and clotheslined his dad’s head off to a loud cheer from
the crowd. His heel turn has been the greatest creative decision in his young career.
- Dirty Dom is a two-time Intercontinental Champion, two-time NXT North American Champion, and current AAA Mega Champion during his time in The Judgment Day, and he’s one step away from becoming world heavyweight champion.
Roman Reigns VS. Drew McIntrye (WWE Undisputed Universal Championship)
The always overconfident and arrogant undisputed champion and his challenger locked up with the power of one-upmanship. Reigns had been trash-talking his opponent, and McIntyre made his rival back away. The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion looks shook because of this insane UK crowd.
The champion answered back with some heavy right hands to his challenger. Reigns looks scared as McIntrye has his way with the champion. Karrion Kross and Scarlet provided a distraction, which allowed Reigns to take advantage. The confident champion now is slowing down the match with explosive, powerful offense like we’ve seen throughout his title reign thus far.
Reigns delivered a big boot, and his challenger kicked out at one! The champion mocked and trash-talked McIntrye and delivered some nasty punches. Both superstars tried to deliver suplexes to each other but to no avail. Reigns then grabbed the mic for Cardiff to acknowledge their Tribal Chief, and The Scottish Warrior hit a Glasgow Kiss to the champion. McIntyre fired up and delivered his patented belly-to-belly throws. The challenger wanted a Claymore Kick as Reigns left the ring. A spinebuster into a jackknife pinfall gave McIntrye a near-fall.
The champion intercepted a Claymore Kick with a devastating Superman Punch for a two-count. The champion locked in the guillotine choke hold in an attempt to get McIntrye to submit. The challenger speared the champion through the barricade. Reigns again intercepted a Claymore Kick with another spear for a 2.99!
McIntyre clocked Reigns with a Claymore Kick to the back of the head and into the referee, Charles Robinson. Austin Theory then made an attempt to cash in his MITB, but Tyson Fury knocked his lights out from the crowd. Back in the ring, the champion has a chair and ate a Claymore Kick for yet another near-fall!
A slugfest ensued between both superstars, followed by a blitz of offense, a headbutt, a spear by the challenger, and a Claymore Kick. McIntyre was one second away from being WWE Undisputed Universal Champion, but Solo Sikoa pulled the referee out before the three-count. Reigns capitalized and delivered a massive spear for the victory!
- ‘The Scottish Warrior’ Drew McIntrye made an amazing entrance, which was highlighted by a storybook video package with his Broken Dreams theme song! The raucous crowd was red-hot for the biggest match of McIntyre’s career since his breakout year in 2020, which was thwarted by Covid. The UK crowd was chanting, “Oh, Drew McIntyre,” before the champion made his entrance.
- Roman Reigns always looks like a million bucks during his elaborate entrance; this time he was all alone. ‘The Tribal Chief’ had his most difficult title defense to date. Drew McIntyre has always been a thorn in Reigns’ side, ever since returning to WWE in 2018. Reigns went on to have a history-making 1,316-day title reign until Cody Rhodes defeated him at WrestleMania 40. The Tribal Chief won this year’s Royal Rumble and won the World Championship from CM Punk in a five-star classic.
- Solo Sikoa made his shocking debut when McIntrye delivered a Claymore Kick and pulled the referee out of the ring to stop the count. The Scottish Warrior has not had the same amount of momentum since the PLE. Yes, he won the world title for about four minutes and was the WWE Undisputed Champion for a month this year, but still, he hasn’t felt like a dangerous threat. Since Sikoa’s debut on the main roster, he’s been the silent enforcer for The Bloodline, the Tribal Chief, and now the leader of the MFTs. He has portrayed a menacing and funny heel at times, and I could see him becoming WWE or World Heavyweight Champion by next year.
