ROH News: Zack Sabre Jr. To Debut At Next Month’s Final Battle
Zack Sabre Jr. will make his Ring Of Honor debut next month at Final Battle!
In just over three weeks, Ring Of Honor will be heading to the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City for their last big event of the year, Final Battle on December 14th, followed the next night in Philadelphia for the Final Battle Fallout television tapings.
Thus far for New York City, three title matches have been announced as the ROH World Title, Television Title and WOH World Women’s Championship will all be up for grabs. On top of that, The Kingdom’s Matt Taven will put his ‘Real World Title’ on the line when he goes one-on-one with Dalton Castle (see that announcement here).
Now, Ring Of Honor has revealed that another big match has been made official, as a segment that will air on ROH TV this weekend will give us the announcement of Zack Sabre Jr’s Ring Of Honor debut at Final Battle against Jonathan Gresham:
TECHNICAL WIZARDS GRESHAM AND SABRE JR CLASH AT FINAL BATTLE
Ring of Honor’s seminal event, Final Battle, emanates from Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom on Friday, Dec. 14. Final Battle is ROH’s biggest card of the year and has been the site of some of ROH’s most memorable matches.
All roads lead to the G1 Supercard, co-promoted by ROH and New Japan Pro-Wrestling, at sold-out Madison Square Garden on April 6, 2019, and the results at Final Battle undoubtedly will have an impact on the historic show.
In a highly compelling match-up of two of the greatest technical wrestlers and submission specialists in the sports, Jonathan Gresham will face international superstar Zack Sabre Jr.
JONATHAN GRESHAM vs. ZACK SABRE JR.
In a segment that will air on this weekend’s episode of “Ring of Honor Wrestling,” Gresham said he wanted to prove that he is the best technical wrestler in the world, so he was issuing an open challenge for Final Battle to the top technical wrestlers around the globe.
Almost immediately, Sabre Jr. appeared on the video screen. The New Japan Pro-Wrestling standout said he was the best technical wrestler in the world and he’s coming to ROH next month. He said he couldn’t think of a better first opponent than Gresham, so he’ll see “The Octopus” at Final Battle. Gresham vowed to tap him out.
Gresham, a 13-year veteran who has wrestled in 14 countries and on four continents, would love to cap what has been a breakthrough year for him with a victory over the much-heralded Sabre Jr. Gresham took Jay Lethal to the limit on three occasions in 2018, including in a 30-minute Iron Match over the summer for Lethal’s ROH World Title in which Gresham scored a pinfall over the champion and came within an eyelash of winning the championship.
When Sabre Jr. faces Gresham at Final Battle, it will be the first time the hard-hitting London native has ever stepped into an ROH ring. He comes to ROH with a very impressive resume.
Sabre Jr., a member of the Suzuki-gun faction in NJPW, won the New Japan World Cup earlier this year by defeating Tetsuya Naito, Kota Ibushi, Sanada and Hiroshi Tanahashi in succession. Sabre Jr. also won the prestigious Battle of Los Angeles tournament in 2015 and has won championships all over the world.
Will Gresham spoil Sabre Jr.’s much-anticipated ROH debut and back up his claim of being the best technical wrestler in the world, or will Sabre Jr. add Gresham’s name to the list of outstanding wrestlers he has defeated?

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
