Details on AJ Styles negotiating a deal to stay with WWE!

In case you missed it, there’s been talk over the past couple of months that current WWE and former New Japan Pro Wrestling stars Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson will all have expiring contracts in early-2019 after signing three year deals in 2016 (see the story here).

While the belief is that all four men are likely to stick with WWE, today Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reports that Styles is currently negotiating with the company and looking to get an easier schedule. It’s being said that ‘The Phenomenal One’ is seeking a work schedule similar to Randy Orton where he works television, but limited Live Events. Reportedly, the discussions right now are also revolving around another three-year deal for the multi-time WWE Champion.

Speaking of the WWE Championship, after losing the title to Daniel Bryan on SmackDown Live last week, Sapp notes that Styles actually advocated to drop the championship after having spent so much time away from home during his year-plus long reign.

EA’s Take: While I maintain that I don’t think AJ’s going anywhere, he certainly won’t have any shortage of suitors should things not work out with these negotiations. Since being with his family is obviously important to the man, I don’t see New Japan being a destination. Imagine if he went to Ring Of Honor? How much a big fish in a small pond would that feel like now?
