One of NXT’s top Superstars is being considered for a main roster call up!

Ever since his official arrival to the WWE back at NXT TakeOver: Orlando in 2017, it seems like there’s been a buzz surrounding NXT Superstar Aleister Black regarding when he will inevitably end up on the company’s main roster.

Beginning with his surprise appearance in a match against Neville at the inaugural United Kingdom Championship Tournament (check out the match in Chairshot Classics), the former Tommy End’s aura and unique skill set which led him to an NXT Championship has only grown his fan base. A minor hiccup recently popped up when he was injured, forcing him on the shelf for a number of weeks after groin surgery and ultimately, the end of his NXT Title reign.

Black didn’t seem to lose any momentum in his absence and the storyline of being attacked backstage to write him off television is still ongoing, running into the top of the NXT card. While we’ve heard rumblings of it in the past, it now looks like company brass has once again taken notice of Aleister.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is once again considering Black for a call to the main roster, but it’s not known when that could take place or whether he would go to RAW or SmackDown Live.

EA’s Take: Not a big story because it’s not like they haven’t thought about it in the past. Honestly, Aleister’s been in NXT now longer than I expected, but I think a lot of that has to do with the main roster having too much talent already. I know this isn’t popular and it’s certainly not going to happen, but I’ve long been a proponent of having guys like Black, Gargano and Ricochet go to 205 Live. Why not? They wouldn’t be getting buried in a loaded roster on RAW or SmackDown Live and you could always transition them to one of those shows later on. It would certainly give a big boost to the purple brand, but alas, these are just pipe dreams.
