EA’s Weekly RAW YouTube Report (12/17/18)
A look at the YouTube performance for this week’s WWE RAW!
As we all know, social media and other outlets have become a huge means of drawing in interaction and viewers for WWE. Most people will point to television ratings like they did during the Monday Night Wars in the late 1990’s, however that can be skewed with so many various means of watching today that do not incluode cable television.
As you’ve become accustomed to, here is this week’s RAW YouTube Report (2:30 PM EST, 12/19/18):
- The McMahons give Baron Corbin another chance – 1.6 million views
- The McMahon Family takes back control of RAW – 1.164 million views
- Ronda Rousey’s challenge turns into a Women’s Gauntlet – 1.119 million views
- Baron Corbin vs. Roode, Gable, Crews & Angle – 984k views
- Women’s #1 Contender’s Gauntlet – 742k views
- Intercontinental Title: Dean Ambrose vs. Tyler Breeze – 478k views
- Dean Ambrose issues an open challenge for his title – 432k views
After last week where numbers at the top were all down (see that here), this week the top of our RAW YouTube rankings is no surprise, as the return of The McMahons was the of course the big story of the night. Taking over the top spot was to be expected with both the naysayers and WWE supporters anxious to see what the family would say about the show. Honestly, all they really did was tell you what they likely had planned anyways. As for number two, for all the complaining about Corbin being so prominent lately, an awful lot of people wanted to see him get his ass kicked which is why it also comes in at number four. He’s the hottest heel RAW has right now.
Sliding into third is our usual leader these days, as RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey issued an open challenge that turned into Stephanie McMahon making a #1 Contender’s Gauntlet, that also takes the fifth spot. I know a lot of fans groaned when Natalya picked up the win, but from a storytelling perspective it makes the most sense because of their on-screen friendship. Plus, the plan was reportedly for Nattie to turn on Rousey before the passing of her father, so this is just another way to get to that match.
The list is dominated this week by the three main angles of the night, therefore rounding out our top seven is the Intercontinental Champion. I’m sorry, but Ambrose is every bit as boring to me now as he was before he got injured. His character is still too similar to how he was before and it shows. Low numbers here aren’t a good sign for Ambrose fans. He already needs something fresh and to move on from Seth Rollins, but it doesn’t look like that’s happening anytime soon.

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
