The legendary Dynamite Kid has passed away at the age of 60!

In some sad news to report today, one of the most influential Superstars in the history of the WWE has passed away at the age of 60 as announced by WWE, ‘The Dynamite Kid’ Tom Billington.

For those old enough to remember, Billington of course gained his first notoriety in North America working for Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling in Calgary, but also became a fixture for New Japan Pro Wrestling in the Junior Heavyweght Division. The cousin of Davey Boy Smith, of course Billington, alongside his cousin, are most known for their run in the WWF during the mid-to-late 1980’s as The British Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs’ feuds with fellow Stampede Wrestling alums Bret Hart and Jim Neidhart would become a fixture of the WWF’s Tag Team Division during this period, a period where The Bulldogs were one-time WWF Tag Team Champions. Of course, Dynamite would infamously get fired from the company right after Survivor Series 1988 due to a series of ribs on Jacques Rougeau which eventually turned ugly. Of course, the most famous story is that of Rougeau waiting on Dynamite after a match with a roll of quarters in his fist, knocking Dynamite’s teeth out.

In his later years, Dynamite Kid became more of a cautionary tale for the pro wrestling business, suffering from numerous health issues due to years of steroid use.
