How did last night’s WWE RAW ratings turn out?

After a rough run in the ratings for Monday Night RAW, last week’s episode saw a big increase in viewership with the return of Vince McMahon and the promise of some freshening up for WWE’s programming. With this week’s episode taped and falling on Christmas Eve, is there any shot of the numbers staying healthy?

The ratings for this past Monday night have finally dropped and the answer to that question is a resounding, “No!”, as the red brand pulls a 1.775, down 30.3% from last week. Here’s a look at the last four weeks of ratings for Monday Night RAW:

• December 3rd: 2.286
  
• December 10th: 2.194
• December 17th: 2.547
• December 24th: 1.775

Meanwhile, it’s not such a dramatic change in the Cable Top 150 Rankings for the 18-49 demographic as RAW maintains number four as its highest rank. Here is Monday’s top five, excluding the 10PM hour of RAW which came in sixth:

1. Monday Night Football – ESPN – 2.32
2. Monday Night Kickoff – ESPN – 1.03
3. SportsCenter (12AM) – ESPN – 0.92
4. Monday Night RAW (8PM) – USA Network – 0.56
5. Monday Night RAW (9PM) – USA Network – 0.55

EA’s Take: To no surprise, an enormous decrease in RAW’s viewership this week. Also, before any wants to try and manipulate this to fit their anti-WWE narrative, Monday Night Football also saw a decrease of 33.9% this week. Plain and simple, the holiday clearly has a huge effect on this week’s ratings for all programming, as not even the weekly juggernaut of the NFL is immune. Not to mention, this was a pre-recorded episode of RAW. I’ll be interested to see if SmackDown Live’s is this bad. Traditionally, I’m freed up by night time on Christmas, but I don’t know if that’s the case for a lot of other people. Either way, maybe there’s a chance it’s not as bad for the blue brand.
