What’s next for Rhyno after being ‘fired’ last night on RAW?

In case you missed it, last night on WWE’s Monday Night RAW we saw Acting RAW General Manager Baron Corbin pit tag team partners against one another to keep their job, as Heath Slater took on Rhyno with the loser being fired from the red brand.

In the end, it was ‘The One Man Band’ who picked up the victory, later being told by Corbin that the spot he gets to keep is for a WWE referee. Meanwhile, ‘The Man Beast’ was fired, but as we noted last night, Rhyno would announce his retirement to the live crowd during the following commercial break (read about that here). However, this was not mentioned at all by WWE since it went down, leaving many people wondering what exactly the deal is with Rhyno moving forward.

While details on his retirement announcement and its legitimacy are still scarce, PWInsider reports today that ‘The Man Beast’ is currently still scheduled for WWE’s South American Tour starting tomorrow in Santiago, Chile. Stay tuned for any further updates regarding Rhyno’s WWE status as they become available.

EA’s Take: I’m not ready to call this an indication that Rhyno’s retirement announcement wasn’t legitimate. We’re not even 24 hours removed from it, so it wouldn’t surprise me if Rhyno was scheduled for the South American Tour and they just haven’t adjusted the schedule yet. Or on the other hand, perhaps he’s actually retiring and just finishing up his scheduled dates. We saw Matt Hardy do that recently before stepping away with injuries, so anything is still possible at this point. I just don’t think it would make a lot of sense if this is an angle to announce your retirement and then WWE doesn’t even address it.
