ROH News: Proving Ground Match & More Added To Road To G1 Supercard In Dallas

More updates for Ring Of Honor next week in Dallas!

As we’ve noted, Ring Of Honor is in the midst of a brief break following last weekend’s Saturday Night At Center Stage and Honor Reigns Supreme before heading back on the road next week for the Road To G1 Supercard events in Texas.

Yesterday, ROH announced a number of matches for the first stop of three next Thursday in Dallas including Bandido vs. Silas Young, Marty Scurll vs. Rhett Titus, as well as a big 6-Man Tag that will pit Dalton Castle and The Boys against ROH World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes and Shane Taylor.

While Ring Of Honor has revealed the first matches for January 25th in Houston today (check that out here), they have also added onto the Dallas card as Juice Robinson and David Finlay will take on two of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s upstarts in a First Round Tag Wars match, Karl Fredericks and Alex Coughlin.

On top of that, another youngster from NJPW will get a big opportunity when Clark Connors meets ROH World Television Champion Jeff Cobb in a Proving Ground Match. Below is Ring Of Honor’s official announcement on that:

The road to Madison Square Garden begins deep in the heart of Texas as the stars of Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro-Wrestling do battle on Road to G1 Supercard – Dallas!

Your favorite stars will be in action, jockeying for position as ROH heads toward 17th Anniversary in Las Vegas, the final stop on the Road to G1 Supercard in Baltimore, and finally, The World’s Most Famous Arena!

The announcement of the New Japan Los Angeles Dojo was met with great excitement by professional wrestling fans all across the globe, particularly with the news that NJPW legend Katsuyori Shibata would lead the Dojo as its trainer. One of Shibata’s prized pupils Clark Connors makes his ROH debut in Dallas but he has a tall task on his hands when he takes on the undefeated ROH World Television Champion Jeff Cobb in a Proving Ground match!

PROVING GROUND MATCH
ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPION JEFF COBB vs. CLARK CONNORS

ROH World Television Champion Jeff Cobb captured the ROH World Television in less than two minutes, defeating the dominant Punishment Martinez in Cobb’s very first ROH match. Since then, not only has Cobb not been defeated but he has also been barely knocked off his feet!

Cobb has made a habit of offering opportunities to up-and-coming stars like Eli Isom while putting the title on the line against established stars like Shane Taylor and EVIL. And Cobb, looking for the best and toughest competition, is signed to face Clark Connors, one of three NJPW LA Dojo Young Lions making their ROH debuts!

Connors made his New Japan debut on September 30, 2018 in Long Beach at Fighting Spirit Unleashed where he defeated fellow Young Lion Alex Coughlin. During that event, Connors observed Jeff Cobb emerge victorious in Cobb’s six-man tag match and made it is his goal to get Cobb in the ring. Now, Connors, pro for under two years, has the opportunity of a lifetime, stepping into the ring with the World Television Champion. And if he wins, he will earn a future ROH World Television Championship match!

Can this rookie pull off the ultimate upset and earn a ROH World Television Championship opportunity? Join us in Dallas or LIVE as Road to G1 Supercard – Dallas broadcasts LIVE for HonorClub!

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”

Published

on

A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.

While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community

Published

on

Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.

The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
