ROH News: ROH TV Title Proving Ground Match Added To Honor Reigns Supreme
Another new match has been added to Ring Of Honor’s Honor Reigns Supreme!
With Ring Of Honor returning to action this weekend in Atlanta for Saturday Night At Center Stage and then Concord, North Carolina on Sunday for Honor Reigns Supreme, the company is putting the final touches on both lineups today.
Earlier, we noted how Beer City Bruiser vs. Mark Haskins has now been added to Honor Reigns Supreme (see that here) and now this afternoon, another has been made official. ROH has revealed that Honor Reigns Supreme will also feature a Four Corner Survival Proving Ground Match that will see ROH World Television Champion Jeff Cobb take on Shane Taylor, Jonathan Gresham and Rhett Titus. The winner, should it not be the champion, will receive a title shot the same night:
The Best Wrestling on the Planet returns to Concord, N.C., on Sunday, Jan. 13 for Honor Reigns Supreme at Cabarrus Arena. The top stars in Ring of Honor will do battle on a can’t-miss show that will be streamed live worldwide for HonorClub.
All roads lead to the G1 Supercard, co-promoted by ROH and New Japan Pro-Wrestling, at sold-out Madison Square Garden on April 6, 2019, and the happenings in Concord undoubtedly will have an impact on the historic show.
Since capturing the championship in his very first ROH match, Jeff Cobb has been one of the most dominant champions, ever. Cobb has barely been taken off his feet in his near four months as champ but heads to Concord to take on the man that took him to his limit, Shane Taylor, one of the hottest technical wrestlers in ROH, Jonathan Gresham, and a true wildcard in former ROH World Tag Team Champion Rhett Titus!
And the World Television Championship could be on the line instantaneously should one of those three stars win the Four Corner Survival Match! If anyone other than Jeff Cobb wins this bout, they will receive an instant ROH World Television Championship match against “The Hawaiian Juggernaut”!
PROVING GROUND, FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL – INSTANT REWARD
ROH WORLD TELEVISION CHAMPION JEFF COBB vs. SHANE TAYLOR vs. JONATHAN GRESHAM vs. RHETT TITUS
ROH World Television Champion Jeff Cobb has never been pinned or submitted in a Ring of Honor ring. But the man who came the closest to doing so, the near 300 lbs. Shane Taylor, is getting another shot to unleash his dominance. Taylor tore up Christopher Daniels’ ROH contract after bum-rushing the Grand Slam Champion following his eye-opening tour of the UK. Cobb and Taylor clashed on ROH Television in late 2018 and Taylor presented Cobb’s biggest challenge to date. Taylor looks reinvigorated heading into 2019 and Cobb must be careful!
As must Taylor when Jonathan Gresham steps into the ring! In a Four Corner Survival match last summer in Nashville, Gresham saw his luck in ROH begin to change when he was able to submit Taylor. Gresham used his technical wrestling prowess and international experience to earn the victory. Since then, Gresham has tapped out World Champion Jay Lethal, won a huge tag team match against then IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks with Lethal as his partner, made his second Survival of the Fittest Finals in a row, and captured a main event pin at Global Wars – Lowell. Despite being the smallest athlete in the match, Gresham may be the most dangerous!
Finally, Rhett Titus returns to ROH action for the first time since the Christmas Surprise 10-Man Tag Team match! Titus, a former ROH World Tag Team Champion, is the wild card. With a decade-plus experience in ROH, Titus has the opportunity of a lifetime to earn an instant World Television Championship bout. But will his mind be on the match or will it be on posing, as we have seen on ROH Television and HonorClub events as of late?
Who will pick up the victory in this Four Corners Survival bout? Will one of the three challengers earn an instant ROH World Television Championship bout? The last time the Television Championship was in a match like this, Punishment Martinez won the bout and then went on to win the title under five minutes later! Join us in Concord or watch live on HonorClub to find out!

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
