Jason shuffles in with the first ever Chairshot Wrestling News Shuffle! A look at Chris Jericho’s AEW contract, Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey and more!

Welcome to the newest daily article at the Chairshot! It’s something I like to called the Chairshot Wrestling News Shuffle (just like my last name). This is a new way we will bringing the daily news to you. This allows us to give you a quick rundown of all the top news every day, and more room for opinions on the daily news, results, happenings in the world of wrestling.
Chris Jericho Gets Paid
AEW offered Chris Jericho one of the best contracts of his career, and now word it starting to leak out about the contract parameters. (Read more about it HERE) Dave Meltzer has reported that many in the WWE are “stunned, freaked” at the contract numbers. Meltzer would go on to say that while the deal wouldn’t pay Jericho as much as Brock Lesnar, John Cena, or Ronda Rousey, the numbers are very similar to their deals.
Lynch vs Rousey……Plus Flair?
After winning the Royal Rumble on Sunday, Becky Lynch would make her presence felt on RAW, challenging Ronda Rousey for a championship match at WrestleMania. Depending on what news outlets you follow (and you should always follow the Chairshot first and foremost) there seems to be conflicting reports on if Charlotte Flair will be added to the match. Sports Illustrated writer Justin Barrasso has reported that the match will remain as Lynch vs Rousey while Dave Meltzer and the Wrestling Observer have said that the match will add Flair for a three-way bout.
All Elite Wrestling Continues To Add Talent
With all the recent news regarding Hideo Itami being released, and Dean Ambrose choosing not to resign with WWE, there is speculation as to who may end up with All Elite Wrestling. While Itami appears to be headed back to Japan, and we don’t know Ambroses’ plans, we do know that AEW has signed indie darlings Sammy Guevara and Kylie Rae according to Wrestling Observer Radio. As you may remember, Kylie Raw was named as one of the Chairshot’s Women to Watch in 2019.
Elimination Chamber Card Taking Shape
The Elimination Chamber pay-per-view is the final pay-per-view before WrestleMania, and after this weeks RAW and SmackDown Live, matches for the show are starting to come together. Matches announced so far include:
- WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match
— Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Mustafa Ali vs. Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton - Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match
— The Miz & Shane McMahon (c) vs. The Usos - WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Elimination Chamber Match
— The Riott Squad vs. Nia Jax & Tamina Snuka vs. Absolution vs. 3 More Teams TBD
WWE Scared Of AEW?
PWInsder has reported that this week during the SmackDown tapings that WWE officials met backstage with talent who had expiring contracts within the next two years. The goal of meeting with said talent was to lock them up for five year deals. The thought behind the five year deal is that there is no potential for a wrestler to jump ship to AEW.
Jason’s Thoughts On Today’s News
Chris Jericho has always been a master manipulator of fans, the Internet, and wrestling news sites. For all we know, Jeircho’s contract parameters and it being the best deal of his career could all be a work to entice other wrestlers to jump ship to AEW. While Jericho deserves every penny he has ever maid, I really can’t see where he would be in the pain range of a John Cena or a Brock Lesnar. I would expect rumors of releases or wrestlers jumping ship for the months to come. As a counterpoint, the WWE attempting to lock up talent to five year deals may be a work for news as well.
All Elite is building a solid talent roster, and I have always thought highly of Kylie Rae’s ring work. I am very interested to see where AEW takes the women’s division, and yeah, not to toot my own horn, but 2 of the women predicted to have big 2019’s are signed with AEW………
Lynch/Rousey needs to stay a singles match at WrestleMania. The match they were supposed to have at Survivor Series was one of the most talked about and anticipated women’s match in WWE history. Love it or hate it, Becky is the most popular star on the roster today, and Rousey is starting to come into her own as a wrestler. (Her promos need a lot of work). While Charlotte will probably go down as the greatest, most decorated women’s wrestler in company history, this is one revolution moment she does not need to be a part of.

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
