Chairshot Wrestling News Shuffle (2/4/2019)
Start your week off with comments on an AEW TV Deal, Becky Lynch Injury, and The Elimination Chamber Match!
Jason shuffles in to the new week with today’s Chairshot Wrestling News Shuffle! A look at an AEW TV Deal, Becky Lynch Injury, and The Elimination Chamber Match!

All Elite Wrestling TV Deal?
As if I haven’t given you enough AEW news the past few days, I am about to give you more. According to Dave Meltzer in his latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW has two major television options on the table. Meltzer said that the deal would be bigger than the deal Spike had with IMPACT, and potentially bigger than any non WWE-TV deal since WCW had with Turner in 2001. It’s unlikely that any TV deal will be announced at the Thursday Double Or Nothing ticket party.
Miz vs Shane McMahon at WrestleMania ?
Justin Barrasso from Sports Illustrated has reported on the rumored plans for Miz and Shane McMahon at WrestleMania, and it appears that the current SmackDown tag team champions will be facing each other at the biggest show of the year. This would have to indicate that they would turn each other to set up a match at WrestleMania.
Becky Lynch Dealing With Injury ?
The Man is set for a prime sport, if not the main event, at WrestleMania. But she may potentially be dealing with an injury. Lynch AJ did not appear at live events this weekend. Lynch reportedly is dealing with a left knee injury. Reportedly she was wearing a knee brace at last week’s Raw and SmackDown Live and at last weekends house show events.
Two More Teams Added To Elimination Chamber Match
Two more teams have been added to Women’s Tag Team Championship Elimination Chamber match. The IIconics and Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville from SmackDown Live have been added to the match. An interesting note to their additions is unlike the teams from RAW, they did not have to win qualifying matches in order to compete in the match. Another team will be added to that match Monday during RAW as the Boss N Hug Connection will take on the team of Alicia Fox and Nikki Cross.
Intercontinental Title Match On RAW
WWE has announced that there will be an Intercontinental Championship match on RAW as Bobby Lashley will defend the title agsinst Finn Balor. The match is the result of last week with Lashley attacking Lawler and laying Balor out in the middle of the ring.
Jason’s Thoughts On Today’s News
I’ve said before in the past that All Elite will need a television deal to succeed. Many networks have been rumored to be in the running including AXS, Paramount, WGN and Turner. I would love to see AEW end up on Turner. As a long time wrestling fan, the nostalgic feel of wrestling on TBS or TNT again would be amazing. Cody Rhodes probably knows better than any of us what professional wrestling meant to TBS in the past. Don’t expect the company to air on a night that would compete with WWE, or for it to air live, at least not in the beginning.
Shane McMahon is always good for an amazing WrestleMania moment and the Miz has to be one of the most consistent, underappreciated superstar on the roster today, if not in the history of the WWE. This match would have the potential to steal the show, and be a potential match of the year candidate.
The Elimination Chamber match is shaping up to be a good one. The WWE could have the exact opposite of what they have with men; an actual tag team division. The women’s roster is deep, as are the current tag teams on the roster. The favorites have to be Bayley and Sashsa, however, I could see a rift happening between the two, leading to a WrestleMania match, the match that was long rumored for this past SummerSlam.

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
