Chairshot Wrestling News Shuffle: Reigns, Big Dave, and more! (2/26/19)
Get your news here! Commentary on Roman, Big Dave, IMPACT, more AEW trademark issues, ‘Mania 36 and more!
Greg DeMarco sits in for Jason with commentary about Roman Reigns returning to WWE Raw, Big Dave inserting himself into the WrestleMania picture, and more!

Roman Reigns Is Back, And The Numbers Will Show It
According to Ringside News, Roman Reigns return did huge ticket sales for Raw in Atlanta. This show already featured the Ric Flair Birthday Celebration before Reigns was announced on Friday. Expect ratings to see a boost as well.
Greg’s Take:
Of course it did! WWE is still a business, and Roman announcing that he’s back (which he did, and even saw some action later in the show) was perfectly executed on all fronts. Those complaining about any part of it simply don’t want to be happy. Screw them.
Batista Is Also Back
In a move that wasn’t announced, Batista is back in the fold and targeted Triple H after his attack on Ric Flair. A WrestleMania showdown seems imminent.
Greg’s Take:
This is exactly what should happen, so good on them for doing it! Batista vs. Triple H at WrestleMania is a perfect use of two part-timers, and the surprise was well done. People knew Batista would be there, but the manner in which it happened was still a surprise. Still, no one is going to credit WWE for not using Batista to sell tickets or drive ratings, because that ruins their great story about how evil Vince McMahon is.
WrestleMania 36 Expected To Be In Tampa
According to WrestleVotes on Twitter, WrestleMania 36 has been locked into Tampa for months now. Another stadium show in Florida, where the only real concern is rain. And this time there’s a pirate ship!
Greg’s Take:
Count me in! I already gave my take on the Twitter: Shane must jump, Kairi must sail!
WrestleMania 36 is all about the Pirate Ship for me:
A. Shane's needing something high to jump from

Anthem & IMPACT Wrestling Channeled Matt Hardy and DELETED Stuff
In a sneaky great newsbite (courtesy of the 411Mania), Anthem & IMPACT Wrestling deleted (DELETE!) 16 episodes of Global Force Wrestling AMPED to free up space, citing that it was a “normal course of business.” Jarrett claims they are worth $4.8 million.
Greg’s Take:
This might be my favorite bit of news yet! I can’t blame Anthem here, the only thing worth seeing is Allie Parker accompanying The Singh Bros to the ring! In all seriousness, Jarrett is probably leveraging this to get the trademark to his name and likeness, which he can then sell to WWE to use for merchandising. Which is why he remains the greatest worker of all time.
More All Elite Wrestling Trademark Issues
All Elite Wrestling had more trademark issues today, with more things not approved. This comes from Wrestling Inc, and you can see the details here.
Greg’s Take:
Nothing to see here! Seriously, I am not being a jerk to AEW. There literally isn’t anything to see here. People have to make amendments to trademark filings all the time–including WWE. This is a learning process, and as much as I like to make fun of AEW for being a glorified t-shirt company that also may run wrestling shows, this is no reason to talk shit against them.
And with that, I remind all of you to…

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
