Interesting Stat About Rusev Over The Last Two Years
Tough times for Rusev?
Rusev, a favorite among many WWE fans, has quite the PPV losing streak going in WWE!
One week ago, Rusev lost the WWE United States Championship to Shinsuke Nakamura at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event at Chase Field in Phoenix. The match took place on the Kickoff, not on what many would call the “main card.”
This brought to light some other info that the fine folks at Cageside Seats identified: Rusev hasn’t won a match on a WWE PPV over two years! His last “main card” victory comes against Zack Ryder in 2016, and his last win came over Big Cass at Roadblock: End Of The Line on the Kickoff in 2016.
Here is the full list:
- Battleground 2016: Rusev vs. Zack Ryder (victory)
- Clash of Champions 2016: Rusev vs. Roman Reigns
- Hell in a Cell 2016: Roman Reigns vs. Rusev
- Roadblock: End of the Line: Big Cass vs. Rusev (victory, on the Kickoff)
- Royal Rumble 2017: Royal Rumble Match
- Fastlane 2017: Big Show vs. Rusev
- Battleground 2017: John Cena vs. Rusev
- SummerSlam 2017: Randy Orton vs. Rusev
- Hell in a Cell 2017: Randy Orton vs. Rusev
- Clash of Champions 2017: The Usos vs. Rusev Day vs. Gable & Benjamin vs. New Day
- Royal Rumble 2018: Men’s Royal Rumble Match
- Fastlane 2018: Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Rusev
- WrestleMania 34: Randy Orton vs. Jinder Mahal vs. Bobby Roode vs. Rusev
- Greatest Royal Rumble: Undertaker vs. Rusev
- Money in the Bank 2018: Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match
- Extreme Rules 2018: AJ Styles vs. Rusev
- SummerSlam 2018: Rusev & Lana vs. Andrade & Zelina Vega (Kickoff)
- Hell in a Cell 2018: New Day vs. Rusev Day (Kickoff)
- Crown Jewel: Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Rusev (Kickoff)
- Royal Rumble 2019: Rusev vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (Kickoff)
Worth noting is that he wrestled several high profile opponents multiple times (Roman Reigns 2x, John Cena, Randy Orton 2x, Shinsuke Nakamura right before his WrestleMania world title match, on the WrestleMania card, The Undertaker, AJ Styles in a WWE Championship match), a trusted spot to be in. He was not in the 2019 Men’s Royal Rumble Match, but that makes some sense since Lana was injured and could not compete in the Women’s match. He challenged R-Truth for the United States Championship on Smackdown right after Truth beat Nakamura for the title, and he seems headed into an “unholy alliance” tag team with Shinsuke Nakamura.
DeMarco’s Take:
It’s important to notice that his 2016 and 2017 schedule was impacted by the pay-per-view set-up at the time. Rusev Day was a crazy over act for quite some time, and it did land him in the Money In The Bank Ladder Match and a WWE Championship Match in 2018–not to mention a United States Championship Match at WrestleMania. Rusev has also been used to establish other talent in their storylines, and was the opponent for some legendary performers as listed above.
And the man himself pointed out that the Kickoff, often seen by more fans than the “main card,” isn’t considered a “pre-show.”
No such thing as a pre-show ! It’s called Kickoff Show. https://t.co/z1oJrzyURN

He also lives in a bad ass house in Nashville and he’s married to Lana. Don’t cry for Rusev, as for him everyday truly is Rusev Day.

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
