Brock Lesnar vs. Walter: Could this Dream Match Actually Happen in WWE?

Is this a dream match for you?

Published

Walter WWE

Brock Lesnar is the most dominant Superstar that WWE has ever seen. The Beast Incarnate took the company by storm when he fist debuted in 2002 and 17 years later, he’s still going strong.

Paul Heyman’s client is nearly unstoppable. During his run in Vince McMahon’s company, Lesnar has faced the best and beaten the best. Everyone that has stepped up has fallen down. But what would happen if Walter stepped up to The Conqueror? In the world of WWE, the concept of dream matches is not what it used to be. One legend after another has faced off over the years and every time it happens, fans can check a dream match off the wishlist.

What was once impossible became reality. It’s happened so often now that very few dream matches are actually left. So the only logical step now is to focus on WWE’s legends and the stars of tomorrow. Therein lays the next generation of dream matches.

This is where Walter comes in. The current Progress World champion has become a true sensation in the pro wrestling business over the past several years. His legend has grown match by match since he debuted in 2005 and his star has never been brighter than it is right now. Walter has been called the future of the business and with good reason. But maybe he’s also the future of WWE as well. As fans anticipate his WWE UK Championship match with Pete Dunne at NXT Takeover: New York on April 5, Walter’s immediate future is clear. He will become the face of the UK brand.

But is it possible that the Austrian powerhouse could eventually find his way to WWE’s main roster? Walter made it clear to the company that he wanted to be close to home, which is why he’s working in NXT UK.

He reportedly didn’t want to move to the United States. So it’s entirely possible that Walter may never see the light of day on Monday Night Raw or SmackDown Live. But of course, this is WWE. “Anything can happen in WWE” is much more than a catchphrase. It’s a fact of life in Vince McMahon’s company. Every time fans believe they know where WWE is going with certain talents, the company will suddenly take an unexpected turn.

So perhaps that will also be the case for Walter. He’s only just getting started in NXT UK, which means he has a lot to do before leaving that brand is even a realistic prospect. But then again, time may not be on Walter’s side. He is only 31 years old but he’s already spent 14 years in the business. He’s in good shape physically but eventually, his body will begin to show signs of a career’s worth of bumps. He’s still moving extremely well and there’s no reason to believe he will slow down any time soon. But one day, any chance of a dream match against Lesnar will be gone.

Brock is 41 and while he’s in phenomenal shape, his body will eventually show age as well. Many fans already see the difference between now and 10, even 5, years ago. Brock is not in a bad way by any means but time will not be kind to him forever.

But if time and physical damage were not immediate factors for either man, then what would a bout between Walter and Lesnar look like? They match up extremely well and they fit together in every way that counts. Lesnar relies on the power game and brute strength to carry him through. The same is absolutely true of Walter.

However, the similarities do not end there. Both Brock and Walter are extremely intense and highly motivated individuals. They’re also inanely focused, which means when the bell rings, they own the arena. They look like killers because that’s exactly what they are. They both project an incredibly brutal and completely dominant presence. Even the most jaded fan could look at Lesnar and Walter and believe that both men are the real deal. It’s because of all this that the two are top level stars. They understand what the game is and they know exactly how to play it. The show business aspect of pro wrestling is not lost on either one of them and everyone can see that.

For longtime pro wrestling fans, a dream match between Walter and Lesnar is intriguing because of the challenge that Brock would represent. Walter has battled opponents of every size and shape in rings all over the world. But he’s never face anyone like The Beast Incarnate. But the same is also true of Brock.

Much like Walter, Lesnar can steamroll anyone he steps into the ring with. Walter gives his opponent more than Brock does at times, but Lesnar is fully capable of selling and making the other guy look good as a result. But for WWE fans, this is about much more than just seeing Brock get tested in the ring.

Fans instantly respond to anyone that can take Brock Lesnar off his feet. It doesn’t happen often but when it does, it’s always a big deal. But it’s even bigger when Lesnar wrestles someone that can push him to his limits. Goldberg was a prime example of a guy that came in like a beast in his own right and totally dominated Brock. Many of Lesnar’s feuds have been well received over the years, including those with The Undertaker, John Cena and Roman Reigns. But Goldberg was on a different level.

Why? Because the Hall of Famer took the fight to Lesnar and was never shaken. Despite what Brock did, Goldberg had the answer. This is precisely what Walter would bring to the table and it’s exactly what fans expect from the two men together. The WWE faithful want to see Brock Lesnar taken down. There may be no better man for the job than Walter. As of now, this potential rivalry is merely just a dream. The logistics of Brock versus Walter may be too much even for WWE at the moment. But perhaps one day, Lesnar will stand across the ring from Walter and fans will get one of the most explosive matches in WWE history. Until then, the dream continues.

Chris King: Is Brock Lesnar Truly Retired?

Brock Lesnar WWE WrestleMania 42 Retirement

Brock Lesnar retired at WWE WrestleMania 42, right? Are we totally sure? Chris King asks…

At WrestleMania 42, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar took off his boots and gloves following his loss to Oba Femi. Lesnar has done it all inside of his twenty-four-year career in professional wrestling. He’s a ten-time WWE Champion and former UFC Heavyweight Champion, and he’s one who ended The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania.

While Lesnar was in the ring, he was visibly overwhelmed with emotion and crying while he thanked the fans in his own way. The Beast even threw up an x to signal to Paul Heyman, his longtime friend and advocate, that this was not scripted and was real. There had been rumors that Lesnar and Oba were supposed to have a series of matches before everything went down at Mania.

‘The Career Killer’ Gunther was doing Heyman’s bidding as he faced Seth Rollins for a favor. For a while now since Gunther retired Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, the rumor has been Gunther was set to retire Lesnar in his hometown at this year’s SummerSlam event. There’s been no confirmation if Lesnar is truly retired, but on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, we saw Heyman talking with General Manager Nick Aldis. Later that night following Rhodes’ match against the debuting Ricky Saints, Gunther choked out the WWE Champion. Could this be the favor from Heyman?

I know in the world of professional wrestling we live by the mantra of “never say never,” but what if Lesnar is actually retired and this was WWE’s way of shutting down those rumors about Gunther and Lesnar? What if Gunther’s next program is chasing after the WWE title, and where is Randy Orton at in all of these plans? There are so many questions that need to be answered, hopefully soon!

Chris King: Defend The Intercontinental Championship At Backlash!

With WWE Backlash upon us, Chris King wants to see Penta defend the Intercontinental Championship in Tampa!

Penta WWE Intercontinental Championship WrestleMania 42

With WWE Backlash upon us, Chris King wants to see Penta defend the Intercontinental Championship in Tampa!

This year’s annual Backlash showcase is only a few days away, and while there are many big matches announced, one that definitely should be isn’t on the card. In my opinion, outside of Roman Reigns/Jacob Fatu and Seth Rollins/Bron Breakker, the Intercontinental Championship scene has been stellar over the last month.

Penta has been an excellent champion, especially after his triumphant title defense in a ladder match against JeVon Evans, Rusev, Dragon Lee, and the Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 42. Their ladder match at Mania was one of the best that WWE has produced in a while.

The momentum never stopped, as on the post-Mania episode of Monday Night Raw, ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page made his debut and was quickly inserted into the Intercontinental title scene. Page had a fantastic showing against his longtime NXT rival Evans and picked up a big win in his debut match thanks to an assist from Rusev.

All Ego immediately joined forces with ‘The Bulgarian Brute’ Rusev, who was also vying for the Intercontinental Title in his own right. On this week’s episode of Raw, Page and Rusev defeated Evans and Penta. All Ego pinned the champion, making a huge statement and putting him one step closer to getting a title shot. For the past few weeks I’ve been anxiously waiting to see if WWE was going to add this incredible fatal four-way match for the Intercontinental Championship, but it hasn’t happened yet.

As much as the WWE Universe enjoys witnessing great matches on free television, I truly believe all four superstars deserve the chance to showcase their talents on the PLE. While Penta has done a terrific job as the intercontinental champion, it’s time for a fresh face to hold the prestigious title. Page would make a great braggadocious heel that would help elevate the Intercontinental Championship to new heights!
