Kevin: WWE Should Never Split The New Day
Break up New Day? Or buck the trend?
Plenty of fans online support a New Day break up, but Kevin isn’t one of them! What do you think should happen?
This one’s been bothering me for a long time now, basically since it was revealed that Kofi Kingston would be challenging for the WWE Title back at Elimination Chamber. There seems to be a growing movement among Wrestling Twitter and wrestling fans alike that would suggest that the New Day should turn on itself, particularly with Big E turning his back on Kofi Kingston. These sorts of sentiments were amplified when Kofi Kingston finally earned his one-on-one match with Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania.
People all over the internet were calling for Big E to turn, and to take Xavier Woods with him, soiling Kofi’s moment on the Grandest Stage of ‘Em All. IT didn’t come to pass, but now that Kofi’s the WWE Champion, this movement will only grow bigger and louder. People want to see New Day on New Day crime.
I can’t fathom it.

Should New Day Ever Break Up?
This turn shouldn’t just be avoided now, it should be avoided period. I don’t like the idea at all. Just go back and watch the celebration segment from this week’s episode of Smackdown, or even the New Day’s unannounced appearance on Monday Night RAW the night before. Do you see how much fun these three dudes are having in that ring? It’s golden, and it has been for years now.
That type of chemistry is rare in this business. Kofi, E and Xavier have a remarkable cohesion with one another, one we probably won’t see duplicated anytime soon. They’re having so much fun out there, it’s addicting. We all would love to be a part of something so enjoyable, wouldn’t we? So why rain on that parade?
I know, it may seem logical in storyline progression. Teams run their course, and then they break up. A Kofi-Big E WWE title match may seem like a dream match for some, and I have no doubt that it would be an absolute smasher of a match. I just don’t want to see it. Same goes for Kofi-Xavier, a great matchup on paper that I don’t want to see.
I love the New Day, have loved them since their debut waaaaaay back in 2014. They’re like a unit of brothers in there, and even though brothers do fight, they never turn their backs on one another. I don’t see the necessity in turning the New Day on one another. You’d be breaking up arguably one of the most popular and over factions in all of wrestling right now. Why mess with something when it’s going that great?
I’m of the belief that the New Day should either stick together forever, or at the very least, have an amicable split. Maybe they just decide to go their separate ways. Maybe they get split up in this upcoming week’s Superstar Shakeup. That would break my heart, but at least we wouldn’t have to see the New Day devolve into fighting. That just wouldn’t be right. People don’t have to turn on each other, y’know. I know this is a fictional universe we’re talking about here where everything is controlled by a team of unseen writers, but if they wish to pull from the real world in order to make their stories seem more realistic, they should remember that not every great tag team has to come to an end.

Don’t Just Break New Day Up ‘Because Wrestling’
It’s a tired old trope, if I’m being honest. How many great tag teams have we seen be ruined by infighting, leading to the same old brother-on-brother feud. Bret and Owen, Matt and Jeff, Edge and Christian, they’ve all fought each other, but does anyone remember them as anything but a tag team? No disrespect to any of the aforementioned superstars but they’re tag teams for life.
Let’s buck that trend with the New Day. Keep them together forever.

Chris King: Is Brock Lesnar Truly Retired?
Brock Lesnar retired at WWE WrestleMania 42, right? Are we totally sure? Chris King asks…
Brock Lesnar retired at WWE WrestleMania 42, right? Are we totally sure? Chris King asks…
At WrestleMania 42, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar took off his boots and gloves following his loss to Oba Femi. Lesnar has done it all inside of his twenty-four-year career in professional wrestling. He’s a ten-time WWE Champion and former UFC Heavyweight Champion, and he’s one who ended The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania.
While Lesnar was in the ring, he was visibly overwhelmed with emotion and crying while he thanked the fans in his own way. The Beast even threw up an x to signal to Paul Heyman, his longtime friend and advocate, that this was not scripted and was real. There had been rumors that Lesnar and Oba were supposed to have a series of matches before everything went down at Mania.
‘The Career Killer’ Gunther was doing Heyman’s bidding as he faced Seth Rollins for a favor. For a while now since Gunther retired Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, the rumor has been Gunther was set to retire Lesnar in his hometown at this year’s SummerSlam event. There’s been no confirmation if Lesnar is truly retired, but on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, we saw Heyman talking with General Manager Nick Aldis. Later that night following Rhodes’ match against the debuting Ricky Saints, Gunther choked out the WWE Champion. Could this be the favor from Heyman?
I know in the world of professional wrestling we live by the mantra of “never say never,” but what if Lesnar is actually retired and this was WWE’s way of shutting down those rumors about Gunther and Lesnar? What if Gunther’s next program is chasing after the WWE title, and where is Randy Orton at in all of these plans? There are so many questions that need to be answered, hopefully soon!

Chris King: Defend The Intercontinental Championship At Backlash!
With WWE Backlash upon us, Chris King wants to see Penta defend the Intercontinental Championship in Tampa!
With WWE Backlash upon us, Chris King wants to see Penta defend the Intercontinental Championship in Tampa!
This year’s annual Backlash showcase is only a few days away, and while there are many big matches announced, one that definitely should be isn’t on the card. In my opinion, outside of Roman Reigns/Jacob Fatu and Seth Rollins/Bron Breakker, the Intercontinental Championship scene has been stellar over the last month.
Penta has been an excellent champion, especially after his triumphant title defense in a ladder match against JeVon Evans, Rusev, Dragon Lee, and the Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 42. Their ladder match at Mania was one of the best that WWE has produced in a while.
The momentum never stopped, as on the post-Mania episode of Monday Night Raw, ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page made his debut and was quickly inserted into the Intercontinental title scene. Page had a fantastic showing against his longtime NXT rival Evans and picked up a big win in his debut match thanks to an assist from Rusev.
All Ego immediately joined forces with ‘The Bulgarian Brute’ Rusev, who was also vying for the Intercontinental Title in his own right. On this week’s episode of Raw, Page and Rusev defeated Evans and Penta. All Ego pinned the champion, making a huge statement and putting him one step closer to getting a title shot. For the past few weeks I’ve been anxiously waiting to see if WWE was going to add this incredible fatal four-way match for the Intercontinental Championship, but it hasn’t happened yet.
As much as the WWE Universe enjoys witnessing great matches on free television, I truly believe all four superstars deserve the chance to showcase their talents on the PLE. While Penta has done a terrific job as the intercontinental champion, it’s time for a fresh face to hold the prestigious title. Page would make a great braggadocious heel that would help elevate the Intercontinental Championship to new heights!
