Matt Davis checks in with his look at this week’s edition of Ring Of Honor featuring Joe Hendry, Flip Gordon, and more!

Since 2002 we have created excellence together.” – Jay Lethal

Welcome to Ring of Honor Television! We open this week at the Summer Supercard, showing Flip Gordon attacking Tracy Williams with a kendo stick before his match for the TV Title in Toronto. We cut to Global Wars in Chicago when Gordon pinned Williams in a Chicago Street Fight with an F5 into opened chairs. Ian Riccaboni welcomes us to the show and tells us the main event will be “Hotsauce” Tracy Williams against his rival Flip Gordon in a No Disqualification match! If you’ve read my Glory By Honor Review, they discuss the match, but tonight we will see it in full! Quinn McKay tells us that next week we will see Joe Hendry challenge Shane Taylor for the ROH TV Title from Honor United.

There is a promo detailing Shane Taylor’s contract situation and recaps his thoughts about Ring of Honor failing to promote him. Come on Shane, it’s not personal, they aren’t promoting anyone! Cut to Taylor walking around backstage trying to leave an arena being followed by reporters and cameramen wanting to discuss his contract and next challenge. First, Taylor walks into a door that clearly says “Exit Only”,  and says “Of course they wouldn’t let me in” then turns to have a press conference. Then one of the people, holding up a cell phone, asks him who his next challenger is to his “world title” in one of the most rehearsed lines I’ve ever heard. Taylor says he’s going to sit down with ROH again to renegotiate his contract because they tried to screw him by adding Dragon Lee to the match but he still retained. The next question was since he’s a free agent, where will he be going next. Taylor says it doesn’t matter, he could go anywhere. He says if ROH wants him to defend the championship they need to pay him more. He wants to be featured and promoted more. A security guard breaks up the impromptu segment and tells Taylor the casino wants him to leave because people can’t be recording in the casino. That was one of the worst backstage promos I’ve ever seen, and this whole storyline is garbage. Strip him of the championship!

After a break we cut to a segment between Joe Hendry and Dalton Castle at Death Before Dishonor, where Castle reveals a mimosa under a cone in the middle of the ring without any explanation of what we are watching. Quinn McKay is standing in the ring dressed like a ringmaster of a circus. Watch this and disagree with me. Castle tells us the mimosa was made with real Equadorian orange, French champagne, and bubbles that were put in by Shaoudi monks in Napal and takes a sip to a cheer. Castle asks how Hendry will top that? Hendry says that will be tough, even though he believes in the tag team even though Castle is second best. Hendry says he’s going to host karaoke. The song about Dalton Castle is horrible and I’m not even going to type it out. Hendry attacks The New Boys as Castle exits the ring. What the absolute trash was that? Cut to McKay with Riccaboni telling us that got out of hand as she introduces the next match.

Joe Hendry vs Dom Kubrik

This is an exclusive television match featuring Kubrik already in the ring as Hendry signs an autograph for a child in his fathers arm at ringside. Hendry offers a handshake as the bell sounds.

We are told Hendry have an excellent amateur background as they tangle up as the match begins. About a minute in Hendry tries a Hendry-Lock, as were told that Kurt Angle bestowed the ankle lock to Hendry. A shoulderblock tackle drops Kubrik, reverses a leapfrog as Kubrik reverses an armdrag into a counter attack. Back elbow by Hendry gets two! Stalling showboat vertical suplex gets two by Hendry! We are told that this is basically an exhibition match for the Scottish singing star, great way to put over your lesser talent guys! We are told Santino Marrella trained Kubrik. At ringside, Hendry signs another autograph as the fans rips it up. Commentator snarks “That’s at least $12 on eBay that he just ripped up.” Highlight of the match so far. Kubrik drops Hendry face first into the turnbuckle! Superkick! Two!  Kubrik hits a move that looks like the Black Plague for two, into a guillotine choke! Hendry powers out and tries a suplex but Kubrik drops again ans Hendry breaks in the corner. Hendry with a suplex countering another try. Hard DDT by Hendry, butterfly into a shoulderbreaker across the knee, hard lariat hooks the leg and Hendry gets two! We are reminded next week Hendry challenges for the TV Title next week. High knee by Kubrik! Crossbody rolled through into a fallaway powerslam! Ankle Lock reversed, but Hendry steps over and locks it in for the submission in 5 minutes.

Winner: Joe Hendry
Grade: **
Thoughts: A highlight squash for Joe Hendry. He has a crisp style and a great look and character which immediately draws you to him. He’s like a mix of early Nigel McGuinness and Drew Gulak. He will be in WWE before long. He has a unique creative offense and has good control of his offense. The story that Angle bestowed the Ankle Lock to him is great. Impressive victory as he heads into next week. #IBelieveInJoeHendry

After a break we are brought backstage with Jenny Rose as she discusses that she has had championship matches before, but now shes pissed off because Angelina Love finally got what she wanted. She says ever since she came here it’s been dirty tactics and disrespect, and of course shes a legend but she’s not honorable. In a cringy moment, her promo is cut off and we only hear her voice as we are shown a graphic for next weeks show. We are told next week Angelina Love will defend in a triple threat against Jenny Rose and Sumie Sakai. Can we talk about this week please? Riccaboni talks about Rhett Titus and Kenny King, the former ROH Tag Team Champions, have been feuding as King has been targeting his former partner at every angle.

Mark Haskins vs Rhett Titus
“Global Wars: Espectacular: Night 1”
Dearborn, Michigan

Begins mid-match, Haskins knocks Titus down and goes up top, missing a stomp. Titus catches a boot in the corner, sloppy Super Facebuster off the top by Titus gets two and a half! I miss The Romantic Touch. Titus with a kick to the chest, mid kick, and an elevated DDT and hooks the leg and Haskins kicks out again! Running boots in the corner stun Haskins, Titus tries a tilt-a-whirl but Haskins reverses into a grapevine into a high angle deathlock and Mark Haskins wins by submission

Winner: Mark Haskins
Grade: N/A
Thoughts: For the one minute we saw, Titus looks like he has looked like for a decade with sloppy offense and zero compelling character traits. Haskins almost breaks Titus’s hip with the high angle submission. Like last week, can’t grade a match you see a small fraction of.

Backstage after the match, Haskins talks to Titus about their “scrap” and Titus says it was just what the doctor ordered. Kenny King walks up and taunts Titus. He criticizes Titus for tapping out, telling him he used to see him pass out before he tapped out (it’s true) when they used to roll. He asks Titus if he should be at home breastfeeding his son as Titus laughs and quips that at least he didn’t get knocked out walking into a camera and walks away.

I’m intrigued by this because these two have great chemistry as a team. Kenny King was the best thing that ever happened to Rhett Titus’s career. Will we eventually see a reunion of the All Night Express?

Backstage with Jeff Cobb as he praises ROH’s return to the United Kingdom, as he prepares for his ROH World Championship match with Rush. He says Rush might be a bull, but so is he, and it’s going to be two bulls colliding as he becomes champion.

In the ring at Death Before Dishonor Fallout we cut to The Kingdom with Matt Taven talking about how seven years ago he joined Ring of Honor because that’s where the best were. He said he tried every day to be the best, and he’s done it all, winning the Top Prospect Tournament, winning the TV Title, winning the Tag Titles and gives a shout out to Mike Bennett that gets a pop (Please come back Mike!), to winning the Six Man Tag Title belts with his two best friends on three occasions, and that all that was nice but since he was a boy he to wanted to be ROH World Champion! He said at Madison Square Garden and in front of tens of thousands of fans all his dreams came true. He said he’s held the title knowing the legacy it has as the most prestigious championships in wrestling. He said everytime he defended it, he would leave it all in the ring which got a cheer and a “Thank you Taven” chant. He thanks the fans. He says he’s at a crossroads, and people have been talking about what happens now. He said when he came here ROH was the best innovative best wrestling company on the planet and he still believes that and he is going no where. The only second Grand Slam champion in company history is staying in Ring of Honor as he hugs Marseglia and O’Ryan in the ring. Commentators tell us he will go down as one of the most underrated champions of all time.

Backstage, Angelina Love and Mandy Rose discuss how bitter Love was that she had to defend the championship next week and complained it took her three months to get an opportunity at the title, but now everyone is lining up to face her. Mandy Rose says its the Age of the Allure and no one is taking the championship from them and ends with a chalk on chalkboard nauseating “Bye” and I’d rather have my eyes pecked out by seagulls than ever listen to that again.

“Hotsauce” Tracy Williams vs Flip Gordon
Death Before Dishonor Fallout Tour
Las Vegas, Nevada

Not sure of the difference between a “television exclusive”, and a match taped for television. This was taped the night after Death Before Dishonor, and begins right away with Williams attacking Gordon on the stage as fisticuffs fly! Gordon cracks a kendo stick across his ribs and back! Gordon chases Williams towards the ring and cracks him again! The welts already appear on his back!

Gordon digging under the ring and grabs a chair at ringside, Williams dives to the outside and splashes it into Gordon’s face! Chops and elbows by Williams! Williams back ripped open already. Butterfly suplex on the outside! Williams rolls Gordon into the ring as Gordon drops Williams face first into the corner! Knife edged chop by Gordon. Williams reverses and gets a chop of his own! Gutwrench toss, to the top rope, Williams rips Gordon off the top with a snap superplex for two!

Williams aggressively all over Gordon as Gordon rolls to the outside and Williams jumps on him again! Gordon reverses a suplex outside and posts Hotsauce! We are told this has been boiling since Gordon joined VE, and dislocated his elbow on a 450 attempt on Williams. Gordon stalks and haunts Williams against the barricade. Gordon tries a suplex but it’s blocked. Gordon tries to whip Williams into the steel but Williams reverses and Gordon jumps over the barricade into the crowd! Williams tries running..and catches an elbow in the face. That was poorly executed, what was plan? Were you going to run knee first into the barricade if Gordon didn’t elbow you? Springboard tornado DDT plants Williams as we fade to commercial!

We are back with both men in the ring, with Gordon swinging a chair. He misses! Williams grabs it, misses, superkick by Gordon! Gordon with a swinging neckbreaker on the chair and gets two! Williams playing possum and drives the chair into Gordon’s ribs. He drops the chair outside, then goes get it again. Jumping knee in the corner! On top, Gordon blocks a superplex. Gordon reverses and drops Williams groin first on the top rope! Gordon tries a full steam charge but stops, stalls, and baseball slides Williams in the back, low risk. He grabs the chair again as both men inside. Gordon opens it and tries to brainbuster Williams into the open chair but Williams blocks. Springboard kick by Gordon! On the top, Williams catches Gordon and all hell breaks loose when Williams drops Gordon with a sitout suplex across the open chair! Hooks the leg, two and a half! Damn! Williams tries a crossface and wrenches back, trapping the arm. Gordon drags himself to the side rope! Williams refuses to break the hold as it’s No DQ! Gordon continues to crawl and drag himself out of the ring and slips away.

Under the ring, Williams unveils another kendo stick and cracks it across Gordon’s chest and back, White Russian Legsweep adapted by The Sandman! Again across the back as it echoes across the arena (easier when it’s empty) Williams cracking it over and over Gordon up the ramp, as he breaks it across Gordon’s back. Williams tries a piledriver on the ramp but Gordon hits a low blow! Gordon with an inverted DDT as we fade to another commercial.

Back, as Gordon grabs a table from under the ring. Gordon opens the table in the ring as Williams rolling around outside. Gordon throws a chair on Williams and rolls him inside. Gordon places Williams on the table and thinks about a 450 Splash. Williams up and nails a european uppercut! Both men on the top now. Headbutt by Gordon! Gordon tries a Kinder Surprise, but Tracy launches Gordon into the barricade and the floor. Williams drops the table closed and then opens it back up half open. Running boot to Gordon on the apron! Williams drops a double axe handle and drags him onto the apron and then the top rope again. Williams with a Piledriver off the top rope through for the table for win in about 15 minutes shown!

Winner: Tracy Williams
Grade: **1/2
Thoughts: This rivalry is far from finished, but here we are with a big win for Tracy Williams and Lifeblood as the carnage continues against Villain Enterprises. Small complaint of not enough weapons for me in a No DQ match. There was a wrinkle of a No DQ match stipulation here, but overall, not a lot. Some kendo sticks, some chairs, and the one table spot that ended it. The momentum of the match was severely interrupted by two commercial breaks. I couldn’t get into the match because of them. The finish kind of came out of no where and wasn’t “built up”, at least not in what they showed. Down. Oh sorry, that’s not my gimmick.

Overall Show Grade: 5/10

Better than last week, but still had some very awkward stuff going on. That awkward segment with Joe Hendry and Dalton Castle was not introduced, and it wasn’t funny in any way. Hendry is hilarious but it really fell flat as they tried to make dick jokes and neither the crowd or I, as a viewer, cared at all. The akward segment with Jenny Rose had awful production. I’ve never seen an interview cut off as their voice continued as we were looking at graphics on screen before. The Shane Taylor storyline is TURRRRRIBLE and that whole interview was really poorly done, little things make a huge difference. We just saw NJPW strip Jon Moxley of a championship because he couldn’t defend because of inclement weather, you’re telling me you’d allow a champion to get bought out of his contract but keep the title on him? If he wants out, agree to buy him out and strip the title. It literally doesn’t make sense from a business stand point, it’s not believable and drives me insane! The TV Title could be utilized so much more with characters like PJ Black, Joe Hendry, or either of the guys in the main event. Great promo by Matt Taven. Felt real, heart felt, and the fans were invested in everything he said. Less complaints than last week, but still enough to irritate me. Until next week! #UseYourHead

Mark Briscoe narrates.

“Where I’m from, man, you gotta be tough. We fight, we scratch, we claw, but we succeed. This is where I’m from. This is where I manned up. Who’s next?” The Most Wanted is used to being hunted, but the Vanilla Baby is looking to put him on ice! The Fallen Goddess makes history alongside five hungry competitors, putting the biggest target on her back yet. But will forever survive Survival of the Fittest? This is ROH Supercard of Honor!

Shane Taylor Promotions speaks.

Big Bad Shaney T says he might’ve overdone it celebrating last night, he’s still hungover. Carlie Bravo ain’t gonna lie, he’s never seen anyone drink that much. Maybe Shane needs to work on his tolerance, being all wobbly. Shane says he drank more than both of them combined. Carlie says maybe, but he feels great, Captain Dean feels great, but y’know who don’t feel great? Eddie Kingston, Mance Warner & Ortiz. Just 24 hours removed, the Kings of the Bums got introduced to the Kings of the Block, #AndStill ROH World Six Man Tag Team Champions. Carlie says he was thinking, talking with Cap…

Lee Moriarty is about to be #AndStill, and longest reigning, Trish Adora about to be #AllNew, Carlie’s getting itchy! He wants to knock someone’s teeth out! So he’s thinking… Open Challenge! Any bums that want some, they can come get it. Dean says whole time, they’re out here in Salisbury, Massachusetts. Er, no Maryland. Macedonia? Doesn’t matter, ain’t no hotties here. But as long as it’s not Mance, Eddie, and Ortiz, step up! Who’s even left, though? After STP beats them down, all you gotta do is answer this: Who run it? THEM run it! Rumble, bad man, rumble! STP is feeling that good, but will their championship hangover ruin all the fun?

Josh Woods VS Nigel McGuinness!

The Technical Beast made this challenge to the living legend because he felt he had no right challenging Lee Moriarty if he couldn’t defeat one of the best ever. But Woods has shown his savagery as he’s amassed a win streak, will he continue to tear everything apart? Or will Nigel show Woods the consequences of taking liberties in this ring?

Salisbury is fired up for Nigel already as the Code of Honor is upheld. The bell rings, the fans sing “OH~ Nigel McGuinness~!” and the two feel things out. Nigel backs off, they go again, and they clinch. Nigel headlocks but Woods waistlocks, then Woods shoves Nigel to a corner. Woods grins but Nigel brushes that off. They tie up, Nigel waistlocks, but Woods wrenches and wristlocks. Nigel drops, slips through, and wristlocks back. Woods waistlocks again, but Nigel wrenches out to wristlock. Woods slips through but Nigel facelocks. Woods RAMS Nigel into the corner, but Nigel goes up and he pulls Woods’ ears!

Woods grabs the rope, so the ref calls it a ROPEBREAK! Woods is upset, but also a little impressed that Nigel got him like that. Nigel says this is brains VS brawn! The two reset, circle, and feel things out. Woods gets as leg, trips Nigel, and turns him over. Nigel fights up but Woods SLAMS him back down. Nigel fights up again, headlocks, and he holds on tight as Woods tries to power out. Woods shifts to THROW Nigel down, then drops into the crevice lock! Nigel fights as Woods puts on the pressure, and Nigel reaches out, ROPEBREAK! Woods lets go and now they’re even. “This ain’t 2007, Nigel!” The fans boo that trash talk as the two reset.

Woods and Nigel feel things out, clinch, and Nigel wrenches to WRING Woods! Nigel then YANKS the arm, and the fans rally behind him again. Nigel has a leg, then he stands on the arm, and he drops a knee on the elbow! And then he leg drops into the arm scissor. Woods endures, a fan tries to start a “U S A!” chant and Nigel says, “I know where I am, thank you very much.” The fans laugh and chant for “U K!” now. Nigel wrangles Woods, HIP DROPS the arm, then drags Woods up. Nigel snapmares Woods, top wristlocks, but Woods resists the turnover. Woods reels Nigel into a cradle, TWO! The fans cheer while Woods says it was that close.

Woods and Nigel reset, feel things out, and Woods puts Nigel in a corner. Woods CHOPS, the fans “WOO~,” but Nigel pokes Woods in the eye! The fans cheer again, and Nigel puts Woods up top. Nigel throat chops Woods, then cravats for the TOWER- NO, Woods slips off the corner to have the SLEEPER! ROPEBREAK! Woods lets Nigel go, that’s Nigel’s second already. Nigel bails out and walks off his frustration. Nigel gets the spare headset to tell commentary this isn’t working quite how he expected. But then Woods gets the other spare headset to say this match is going exactly how Woods expected.

The ref gets on commentary? He doesn’t know how either man expected this to go, but if they don’t get back in the ring, they can expect to be counted out. Wow, Ref Posey laying down the law when it isn’t Athena. The fans even chant, “We Want Wrestling!” Nigel goes to the ring and holds the ropes open for Woods, but Woods says, “You want wrestling?” “YEAH!” Woods steps inside, Nigel follows, and they reset. Nigel says check your shoe, then he ROCKS Woods! And then he uses the ref as a shield! Woods rushes up, but Nigel puts him in the ropes! ROPEBREAK! Nigel gets even with Woods and the fans cheer!

But then Woods RAMS Nigel into a corner, he and Nigel clinch, and the ref counts. Woods says he’s not doing anything, but the ref says that’s Woods’ ROPEBREAK! Now he’s out of ’em! Nigel whips, Woods reverses, and Nigel is sent tumbling out! Woods then goes out to THROW Nigel into barriers! The fans cheer while Woods ROCKS Nigel in the back! Woods scoops to RAM Nigel into barriers, and RAM him again! Woods drops Nigel, gives thumbs up to the fans, then refreshes the ring count. Woods stands Nigel up but Nigel throat chops! Woods KNEES low for it! Nigel falls over, gasps for air, and Woods brings Nigel back up.

Woods puts Nigel in the ring, talks some smack on the fans talking smack, but Nigel ELBOWS Woods! Woods gets under Nigel to put him in the ropes, and he fires forearm after forearm! Then DRAPING BACKBREAKER! Cover, TWO! Nigel is still in this and the fans rally up. Woods is annoyed but he clamps on an ANKLE LOCK! Nigel endures, reaches out, and the fans sing for Nigel as he fights around! Nigel uses the ROPEBREAK! That is his third and final, and no one has a save as we’re only ten minutes into this. Nigel goes to the outside, Woods grabs at him, but Nigel HOTSHOTS Woods’ arm! Then he drags Woods out, TOWER OF LONDON onto the floor!

The fans cheer while both men are down! The ring count climbs, Nigel rises up, but Woods anchors a foot. Nigel frowns but he brings Woods up. Nigel ROCKS Woods, the count is 10 of 20 as Woods hits back! Woods eggs Nigel on so the forearms keep going! The shots are back and forth, but we pass 13! 15! 16! The forearms keep going, but we hit 18! Both men hear that and roll in at 19! The fans cheer, especially as the forearms keep going! Woods fires a flurry, but Nigel UPPERCUTS! “GET SOME!” They DOUBLE BOOT! The fans fire up as both men are down! The dueling chants brings both men to their feet, and Nigel throat chops!

Nigel UPPERCUTS, throat chops, repeat! Nigel goes corner to corner and back again to UPPERCUT! The fans cheer as Nigel keeps going, but Woods ROCKS him! Nigel yoyos, but into the URENAGE BACKBREAKER! And then LARIAT! Cover, TWO! Woods is stunned but the fans fire up again. ANKLE LOCK!! Woods shouts at Nigel, knowing there’s no way to save himself with the ropes! Nigel grabs the ropes all the same, but then the ref reminds him! Woods drags Nigel back anyway, but Nigel rolls to send Woods into buckles! The fans rally as both men stand, and Woods stalks Nigel. Woods winds up but Nigel BOOTS him down!

Nigel huffs ‘n’ puffs, but Woods might be dazed from that shot. The fans rally as Woods sits up slowly, and Nigel waits on the diagnosis. Woods seems alright to continue so Nigel whips him corner to corner. Woods slumps down, Nigel’s kick may have rung the proverbial bell. Nigel drags Woods, covers, TWO! The fans cheer as Woods shows he still has something in the tank. Nigel decides to end this with the LONDON DUNGEON!! Woods endures, reaches out, but he’s in the same boat of no ropebreaks. Woods shifts, turns, but Nigel pushes him down. Woods UP KICKS, Nigel yoyos, but Woods catches Nigel again!

Nigel spins through ROCK and UPPERCUT, but Woods UPPERCUTS back! Nigel yoyos, LET’S KILL IT LARIAT! Cover, Nigel wins!

Winner: Nigel McGuinness, by pinfall

Just shy of 15 minutes, and after pushing Woods to his limits, Nigel wins out! But will Nigel carry this momentum to give it one more go against Lee Moriarty? Will Lee even be champion after defending his title against Ace Austin?

I won championship after championship, gold after gold after gold!

“And that got me thinking about the AEW World Championship. Now, I must ask you, do you climb a mountain to see the world? Or do you climb that mountain so that the world can see you climb it? Well, I’m here to tell you, I’m climbing that mountain to be champion of the world! So Darby Allin, I’ve beaten you before not once, not twice, not three times, I’ve beaten you four times! And if you have the cajones, show up tomorrow on Collision right here in Salisbury, Maryland, and it’s gonna be number five. #AndNEW AEW World Champion, Sammy Guevara, The Spanish God.” Sammy is confident as ever, but will he be the one to end the Relentless Reign?

Action Andretti speaks.

“Life, I feel, is an unspoken right and wrong. And I always tried to do the right thing. That’s why when life got rough for my tag partner, I told him, ‘Do what you need to do. All this can wait, I can wait,’ and I did wait. Call after call, and nothing. Tonight, I could’ve used my partner. But Lio, you wasn’t there. Do you know what that feels like? To be forgotten, to be discarded and disrespected when you were just trying to do the right thing?! It not only makes you angry, it makes you question everything. It breaks something inside of you, and at the same time, it awakens something in you. A fire, a desire to cause pain.

“And Lio, now understand this: CRU is done.” The Sight to See has drawn the line in the sand, but will he pay for crossing the line in the first place?

Red Velvet speaks.

“Another successful win for your ROH Women’s World Television Champion. And MAN, does it feel good? It feels great! But y’know what doesn’t feel good? Watching Dynamite on Wednesday, watching the Owen Hart Tournament bracket come up, and guess who’s not on it? Your TV Champion. I’m pissed! I’m frustrated! I’m angry! I’m jealous! But I’m actually motivated. Because y’know whose name was on the bracket? Willow Nightingale, your TBS Champion. The ‘Comeback Killer.’ Now Willow, I heard you got an open contract for that TBS title. Well guess who just signed it? ME.

“And not only am I coming back to kick your ass, I’m coming back tomorrow night, on Collision, to kick your ass right here in Salisbury, Maryland. And not only am I gonna kick your ass, I’m gonna show you why the Queen of TV is about to become the Face of TBS.” The Chef wants to stir it up with Willow, but will the Babe with the Power take that L and send it back to the kitchen?

On-stage interview with Jordan Oliver & Alec Price.

Lexy Nair welcomes out The Buster & The Brain, and Oliver gets Price to calm down. Lexy brings up their winning streak, and asks if it is safe to say that they’re going for the ROH World Tag Team Championships. Oliver tells Lexy that they wanted to wrestle Beast Mortos & Sammy Guevara for the titles tonight, but the champs weren’t defended once again. But when they will be, these two will be first in line! And Lexy, here’s some factoids you might not know about them. They’re calculated, they’re strategical, and they have a plan for any situation, always!

Price adds that since the ROH Tag Team Division is so on fire right now, if any other team’s feeling froggy~, Buster & The Brain are ready to go insane~! Wait! THE KINGDOM is here?! The fans cheer the return of Mike Bennett & Matt Taven! The former ROH World Tag Team Champions have the fans cheering for them, and Mike tells Price & Oliver, “Gentlemen… I turn 41 tomorrow, it’s my birthday. Cheap pop there, cheap pop. I know I’m getting a little grey in the beard, a little long in the tooth, but I know I can still hear pretty good. So did you guys say, ‘Is there anyone feeling froggy?’ Well, allow me and my partner, Sexual Taven, to be the first to say… ribbit ribbit.”

Mike gets it more than most: When dad’s away, the kids get rambunctious! Too bad for you kids, but Daddy’s home. Taven says before they talk about their friend, Frank Mortos, and the belts he’s keeping warm for the Kingdom, realize where you are! This is THEIR house, this is ROH, this is their kingdom! And like the cliche goes, if you come for the king, you best not miss. And if you want after them, you better cut their heads off, because they’re still #NeckStrong! The fans cheer that, but Taven can tell Buster’s getting antsy. If they want the titles, you gotta go through OGK. So from two Boston boys to at least one other, best of luck, Melvins, cuz you’re def gonna need it!

The Kingdom offer handshakes, Buster & The Brain accept, but when and where will these teams fight for their right to face LFI for the ROH gold?

Backstage interview with Shane Taylor Promotions.

Lexy Nair is with STP as she congratulates Lee Moriarty on his win. Bravo claps at Lexy and says she should shut her face and know her place. Dean says every time he turns around, it seems like a group of goofies sticking their noses in STP business! Bravo asks why Cassidy was even here! And was that Mark Briscoe with him?! Shane tells Briscoe that they’ve known each other for almost 10 years. And Briscoe should know what happens when people get between Shane and his championships. But since The conglomeration wants to fight so bad, STP will gladly beat they asses down anytime, anywhere!

Bravo says yeah, don’t worry, they’ll get the Six Man titles back. But let’s not wait and do this tomorrow night on Collision, in this dirtbag town of Salisbury! Dean says let’s sweeten down! Any three of STP VS any three of Conglomeration! Conglomeration has titles STP wants, so if STP wins, they get a shot! Bravo says that’s perfect. Conglomeration, STP has you in their sights, so expect disrespect! Rumble, bad men, rumble!

The Conglomeration responds!

Mark Briscoe tells STP that if they wanna tango with The Conglomeration, then how convenient! They just so happen to be looking for a good ol’ fight on a Saturday night! Challenge accepted! And tell you what else is good and convenient? Briscoe needs to get tuned up for his match with Ciampa, while their other partner… It’s gonna be Kyle, right? Cassidy says yeah, he’ll call Kyle in a minute. Then Kyle needs to get tuned up for Jon Moxley! But don’t think for a single second that they’re overlooking STP! Spoilers: When you wake up tomorrow morning, see that beautiful eastern shore sunrise, you ain’t gotta look at the calendar!

Here’s another spoiler: The Word of the Day is gonna be “Hometown Ass-whooping!” It goes down right here in Salisbury, baby! RARARARARARA! Briscoe rushes off, and Cassidy says yep. Wait, does he call Kyle now? Will The Conglomeration be building that momentum as they head for Double or Nothing?

The teams sort out and Yuka starts against Athena. The Code of Honor is upheld, but then Yuka wrenches! Yuka wristlocks, headlocks, but Athena powers up and out. After Pure Rules: Josh Woods VS Angelico…

The Technical Beast wins with a bridging German Suplex, but that’s not enough for him! He clamps on a nasty top keylock onto Angelico’s arm and pushes on it! The ref reprimands and the fans boo but Woods is shouting a warning to Nigel McGuinness! Serpentico rushes out here, he gets Woods to let go of the hold, then he checks on Angelico. But then Woods snatches Serpentico into the SLEEPER! The fans boo again as Woods shouts, “Nigel! This is your future! THIS IS YOUR FUTURE!” But then NIGEL MCGUINNESS is here!

The fans cheer, and Nigel has a mic to tell Woods, “If you wanna take some liberties with someone, we don’t have to wait until tomorrow night at Supercard of Honor. We can do this tonight!” The fans cheer Nigel as he steps into the ring and steps up to Woods. Woods says y’know what? He’ll do Nigel a favor and NOT do this tonight. He’ll wait to beat Nigel in front of the WORLD, live on PPV! The fans boo as Woods leaves, and Nigel says in 24 hours, Supercard of Honor, he might take some liberties himself. The fans cheer, but will Nigel slay the Technical Beast? Or will Woods have the goods to go after Lee Moriarty and the Pure Championship?

Red Velvet speaks.

“Supercard of Honor is about showing everyone why I am THE best ROH Women’s World Television Champion of all time. Viva Van, we go way back. Even before this championship was around my waist. We’ve wrestled each other, teamed together in CMLL, so I know exactly how talented you are, and how hard you worked for this opportunity. And honestly, I respect that, and you. But respect doesn’t change reality. This title didn’t make me who I am, I made this title important! Every Proving Ground match, every defense, every sacrifice, I carried this division on my back with pride. I put the R in ROH, and the V in TV Champion.

“At Supercard of Honor, you’re not stepping in the ring with the woman you used to know, you’re stepping int he ring with the backbone of this division. And when it’s all said and done, and the bell rings, it’ll be #AndStill.” The Chef is ready to cook Viva Van, but will it be another hot ‘n’ fresh L? Or will it be Viva La Hellbent Vixen in Salisbury?

ROH World Six Man Tag Team Championships: Shane Taylor Promotions VS Eddie Kingston, Ortiz & Mance Warner!

Speaking of carrying a division, The Infantry & Big Bad Shaney T are still running the Six Man game, and are looking to keep that going on the night before Supercard. But will they show everyone to rumble, bad man, rumble? Or will The Mad King, The Monkey & The Southern Psycho change everything?

The introductions are made, but no time for raising belts or sorting out, Eddie leads the charge on STP! Cover, TWO!

Winners: Shane Taylor Promotions, by pinfall (still ROH World Six Man Tag Team Championships)

The numbers advantage helps STP again, they still run this! Will any team ever stand a chance of stopping their rise to the top?

After Blake Christian w/ The Lethal Twist VS Evil Uno…

Vanilla Choke Zero was too much for Player One to stomach, and now Blake gets a mic to speak. “Bandido, Bandido~! I hope you were paying attention. I hope you were watching closely. Because I have been proving week in and week out that I am going to take your ROH World Championship.” The fans boo that, but Blake says, “You can feel it. It’s like a changing of the seasons. You walk out the door, oh, you smell that beautiful fresh air, the birds are chirping, and that grey sky clears, and the beautiful sunshine comes out. And then you know that Vanilla Baby is your NEW ROH World Champion!”

The fans boo but Blake aims his finger gun. He looks to take down the Most Wanted, but will he succeed where so many have failed?

Lee Moriarty speaks.

“Ace Austin. I’ve known you for over 10 years. We’ve battled everywhere, from Pennsylvania to Ohio to Florida. And now, we’re gonna do it again in Maryland. Ace, I know how amazing an athlete you are, I’ve been in the ring with you, and you upped the score on me last time, so you earned this opportunity. But I need you to understand and recognize that you are now in the ring with the best Pure wrestler on the planet! This is my world, and there is not an ace up your sleeve that can out wrestle Taiga Style. So watch your step and protect your neck, because my name is Lee Moriarty, and I am the greatest ROH Pure Champion of all time.”

Ace Austin responds.

“Did you know that I am undefeated in ROH? If you watch Dynamite, you might not know that. Because yes, its’ true that I’ve lost more than I’ve won on Dynamite. But… That’s not what it’s about. Iron sharpens iron, and tonight, I stood toe to toe with one of the absolute best in the world with Will Ospreay, and there’s a reason he shook my hand at the end of that match. There’s a difference between failure and losing. Failure only happens when you decide to quit, but there’s a lot to be learned from loss. Winning is great, but I’ve learned more from these losses than any amount of wins could’ve ever taught me.

“And I carry these lessons with me when I step into ROH. It’s the reason why I have yet to be beaten in ROH. And finally, finally, I’ve got myself a championship opportunity, Friday at Supercard of Honor, Ace Austin VS Lee Moriarty for the Pure Championship. Yes, Lee, we’ve known each other for over 10 years, but that doesn’t matter, our paths have been so, so different. And you have quite the tight grip on the Pure Championship. But that doesn’t last forever. The Bang Bang Gang already beat STP once, a whole group full of ROH champions. So it’s only a matter of time before you lose that grip.

“And Lee, me? Ace Austin, wearing championship gold, it’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when. And I… am… Inevitable!” The champ is willing to give an old rival his opportunity, but will this just be another notch on Lee’s belt? Or will The Inevitable happen, and make Moriarty fold?

After ROH Women’s Pure Championship Proving Grounds: Deonna Purrazzo VS Kaci Lennox…

The Virtuosa puts this one away with 6 minutes to spare, but then DIAMANTE ATTACKS! The Cuban Diamond knocks Deonna down, stomps away on her, then picks up the belt! BELT SHOT on Deonna! The fans boo but Diamante looks at the gold. Then she looks at Deonna, and clamps on the FUJIWARA ARMBAR!! Deonna can’t even tap, she’s barely able to focus! Diamante lets go, and holds up the belt as she promises #AndNEW! But will Diamante regret adding fuel to the fire? Or will she burn brightest once she has gold around her waist?

Athena speaks.

Well, she laughs as she says, “These dumb porcelain hussies, lemme tell you. They are so stupid! They think because they have faced me once that they have the knowledge to some kinda way beat the Forever ROH Champion. But let’s get one thing straight: If AEW is where the best wrestle, ROH is where the best ONE wrestles!” But then Billie storms in and asks what the heck was that in the match! It’s always gotta be about Athena, Athena, Athena, doesn’t it?! Athena says she hears what Billie’s saying, but take that rage and turn it into gratitude. Instead of saying all this crap, say, “Thank you, Athena, for fixing all my mistakes.

“Thank you, Athena, for keeping ROH afloat during the rocky times, the hard times.” The entire DIVISION should be thanking Athena! She doesn’t know how many times they can do this. Three YEARS of temper tantrums, lashing out, kicks to the face, and yet Athena keeps Billie by her side. Say THANK YOU because Athena keeps you relevant. We all know without Athena, Billie and this entire roster wouldn’t exist! There would be no ROH without Athena, and it’s about damn time you all acknowledged it! So what are we gonna say, Billie? Billie reluctantly says thanks, and Athena says you’re welcome. And remember, Supercard of Honor, you follow the plan!

Because if not, Billie will have more than just Athena’s right foot, left foot, and fists to deal with! MIT forever. Athena leaves, but Billie doesn’t look 100% with the program. Will Supercard finally see the fall of MIT?

Action certainly brought the action, but he could not bring down THE ROH World Champion. However, The Lethal Twist makes their presence known as they step back out on stage. Vanilla Baby steps forward, showing off the mask he stole from Bandido. Bandido shakes his head, then dares Blake to step into the ring so they can get things started now! Blake just throws the mask back to Bandido, because he says he’ll just take the belt to replace it. Supercard of Honor is coming, who survives in Salisbury?

My Thoughts:

A great ROH but sheesh, did we need a go-home that was over two hours? Did we need last minute Proving Grounds? Did we need obvious squash match filler? I will say that Josh Woods sending a message to Nigel only for Nigel to quickly respond was a good moment, keep that. Diamante going after Deonna just tips the hand with classic go-home math. I would think Deonna is winning now, but maybe Diamante cheating defies the expectations. Glad to see we got some kind of Six Woman Tag but I would’ve thought Trish Adora would’ve been part of this. Good spot for Lacey Lane and Marina Shafir to each be part of this, maybe one or both of them can get in on the ROH Women’s title scene after Supercard.

That is to say, if Athena loses the title, the new champion will need some fresh faces to defend the belt against. I really, really, REALLY hope the dysfunction they’re bringing back around for Athena and Billie means Billie breaks away from Athena once and for all. Even Athena questioned if they can keep this going after over three YEARS. Very good Six Man Tag title match, but I figured STP would win off the numbers game. Very good promos from Lee Moriarty and Ace Austin, and of course they’re adding this match last minute to Supercard. Like AEW, ROH puts as many titles on the card as they can, so here we are.

Great match from Zayda VS Hyan, and I’m actually surprised Zayda won. I thought they were gonna give us Maya & Hyan going after Athena & Billie throughout Survival of the Fittest, but maybe it means more if Maya is in there alone against both Athena & Billie, and then Billie still turns on Athena. Zayda will still do great in the match, too, but I wonder if she is first eliminated. And great match from Nick Wayne VS AR Fox, though NJPW technically gave spoilers just in the fact Nick wasn’t wearing the title for BOSJ opening night. Even without that, great moment for Fox to finally have a title in AEW/ROH, but again, throwing on as many matches as they can, Fox VS Lio is already happening. It’d be real nasty business if Fox was transitional for Lio, hopefully Fox wins.

My Score: 8.8/10
