Greg DeMarco presents the Chairshot Woman Of The Year for 2019! Who excelled throughout the past 12 months?
2019 was a crazy year in professional wrestling, leaving us all thirsty for more. I liken it to 1996, when competition started swinging at each other–but 1997 was year it got real. Could we see that in 2020? Who knows what we’ll be saying in 12 months, but first we need to take our annual look back as we do so well here at The Chairshot.
In episode five of The #Miranda & Greg DeMarco Super Such Good Shit Show, Pal, Miranda Morales and myself came together to review the past 12 months and pick the Man, Woman, and Team Of The Year for 2019. Over the next few days, I give you the winners!
2019 Chairshot Woman Of The Year: Becky Lynch
How do you follow-up a 2018 where you are awarded the Chairshot Woman Of The Year? Well if you’re Becky Lynch, you win it again! The 2018 award was hotly contested, as Becky’s resume was only “worthy” from SummerSlam on (still nearly 5 months), and Charlotte Flair had a great case for the award. The Man was undeniable because she literally changed the business in that 5-month span.
She didn’t change in 2019. She started the year off by winning the Royal Rumble, and made her way to the first ever women’s main event at WrestleMania. Becky emerged victorious and became Becky 2 Belts, but she also became a mainstream star, and arguably the second or third biggest star in the company.
That may sound like hyperbole, but it’s not. Bleacher Reports’ Ryan Dilbert conducted focus groups of non-WWE fans to see who resonated with them as individuals. Third overall, and the top woman, was Becky Lynch.

Becky did more than that. She main evented a second “Big Four’ pay-per-view in Survivor Series. She was the catalyst for Lacey Evans’ summer time rise in WWE. She was the first star out on the WWE debut on FOX. Teaming with Charlotte Flair, she even vaulted the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships to the main event of a pay-per-view.
Consideration was also given to:
- Tessa Blanchard
- Charlotte Flair
- Shayna Baszler
Who was named Team Of The Year and Man Of The Year? ? Stay tuned the rest of this week to see!
I want to know what you think: Is Becky deserving of this honor for a second straight year? Leave a comment on this content, hit me up on social media @ChairshotGreg or email me at gregdemarco@thechairshot.com!

Former WWE Star Reveals How Company Tests Wrestlers for an “Attitude Problem”
A former WWE star took to social media to explain, in brief, how WWE evaluates its talent to determine whether they have an “attitude problem.” The post offered a glimpse into the company’s behind-the-scenes vetting process, suggesting that behavior and professionalism are actively monitored during a wrestler’s time with the promotion.
While the explanation was limited, the revelation underscores WWE’s focus on maintaining locker-room culture and managing talent dynamics. Fans and industry observers may read the post as further evidence that character and conduct behind the curtain can be as consequential as in-ring performance.

WWE Backlash Match Sparks “Clone War” Debate in Wrestling Community
Wrestling fans and insiders are abuzz after a match at WWE Backlash was accused of “copycatting” a formula previously used by an independent wrestler, a situation some are calling a new “clone war” in the industry. The controversy highlights growing concerns about creative overlap between major promotions and the indie scene.
The debate raises questions about originality and recognition, with observers wondering whether mainstream companies should acknowledge or adapt indie ideas more transparently. As the story spreads, fans and performers alike are watching to see how promotions handle influence, credit, and creative borrowing moving forward.
