Tiffany’s Takes: September 28-October 4, 2020
Tiffany gives us her thoughts on a handful of this past weeks wrestling topics!
Jon Moxley
Mox did an interview with Bleacher Report that I’m happy to say did NOT involve him rehashing his WWE exit for the bajillionth time. I love Mox, and am firmly on his side over the WWE exit, but there’s only so many ways to rehash that exit.
I’m totally onboard with Mox vs Eddie Kingston being a long-term thing. They work so well with each other. I’m kind of bummed we didn’t get Mox vs Penta again, but that might wait for a bigger stage. That said, Mox made Butcher look like a million buck, and I love that Mox is incorporating more submission holds in his repertoire.
Roman Reigns
As much as I would like to see Roman beat the trash out of CM Punk, and God knows Punk deserves it, I have no interest in seeing Punk wrestle ever again. Plus, Punk would probably throw a fit and refuse to do the job. I’d much rather see Roman fight the Rock in Rock’s farewell match.
Have I mentioned how much I love Roman’s heel turn so far? Cuz, I do. I also love Paul Heyman being scared of heel!Roman. Heyman never seemed really scared of Lesnar, but he’s scared of Roman. I also love that Jey Uso is getting another shot at HIAC, hopefully IN the Cell, I’m not sure what other stakes there will be.
Seth Rollins
Dastardly!Seth is the best Seth. There, I said it. I will say, I don’t know how anyone can say that Rey Mysterio isn’t Aalyah’s father since she looks JUST like Rey, if you’ve ever seen Rey without his mask. Also, the Murphy/Aalyah angle of this story is getting interesting, though the reactions are a little extreme, unless Aalyah is a LOT younger than I think. Also, Aalyah helping Murphy beat Dominick is an interesting twist, like if Juliet had helped Romeo slay Tybalt.
Also, in regards to the age gap between Aalyah and Buddy Murphy: Aalyah just turned 19 and she was 18 when the storyline started. She’s legally an adult and can decide for herself who she dates. You don’t have to approve of them dating, if they are dating, but you don’t get to try and make a moral issue out of a storyline involving two legal adults. Get over yourselves.
WWE
It’s been long time since I really paid attention to RAW, between work, AEW, and discovering that I really enjoy football, it just hasn’t held my interest like before. However, I did enjoy things on the 9-28-20 RAW. I enjoyed KO vs Black and Murphy vs Dominick. I’m also glad to see Mustafa Ali FINALLY getting some TV time, AND securing the win for his team.
What I didn’t enjoy was the Women’s Tag match, Drew McIntyre in general, whatever the fuck Randy Orton did to the legends.
I hope the news that WWE is going to take over the Twitch and Cameo accounts of their superstars and that the payment comes out of the superstars’ downside is another case of dirt sheet over-exaggeration because that scenario seems like one that sounds more like extortion than beneficial to the superstars.
SmackDown is another show I haven’t really been able to watch lately, but I enjoyed 10-2-20’s edition. Jey Uso getting the win over AJ Styles is a HUGE deal and says something about how well Jey impressed at Clash of Champions. I’m very intrigued by the Wyatt/Alexa storyline. I’m not even mad that Owen got dragged into it, I just wish they’d had Possessed!Alexa attack KO instead of Wyatt. Not sure I’m behind Carmella’s transformation. Not saying it’s bad, I’m just not feeling it. Bayley vs Sasha I’m down for, I just wish WWE had let it simmer longer. I loved Sami Zayn vs Jeff Hardy, so this show was a winner for me.
AEW
Due to work changes, I haven’t been able to watch AEW Dark for awhile. I like that it’s longer and showcasing more superstars, including the indie talent AEW wants to sign. I especially love that it’s become the how for the Women’s Division. I do wish AEW would treat it as the SmackDown to Dynamite’s RAW and use it to really move storylines forward.
Brandon Cutler vs Peter Avalon continues to be the highlight of Dark. I’m almost afraid of what will happen when one of them finally gets a win. I love Anna Jay vs Brandi and the inclusion of Tay Conti.
Due to the aforementioned work changes, it’s been awhile since I’ve been able to sit and watch Dynamite from start to finish. I really enjoyed it! Allin vs Starks was really good and I’m stoked for Cody vs Lee in the dog collar match. Also loved that the Anna Jay vs Brandi storyline continues to grow. I’m intrigued by the #1 Contenders Tournament, though I’m not really ready for Mox to lose that AEW Championship, even after 200+ days. Loved Britt Baker’s return, I’ve been missing the good Doctor during her absence.

Chris King: Is Brock Lesnar Truly Retired?
Brock Lesnar retired at WWE WrestleMania 42, right? Are we totally sure? Chris King asks…
Brock Lesnar retired at WWE WrestleMania 42, right? Are we totally sure? Chris King asks…
At WrestleMania 42, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar took off his boots and gloves following his loss to Oba Femi. Lesnar has done it all inside of his twenty-four-year career in professional wrestling. He’s a ten-time WWE Champion and former UFC Heavyweight Champion, and he’s one who ended The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania.
While Lesnar was in the ring, he was visibly overwhelmed with emotion and crying while he thanked the fans in his own way. The Beast even threw up an x to signal to Paul Heyman, his longtime friend and advocate, that this was not scripted and was real. There had been rumors that Lesnar and Oba were supposed to have a series of matches before everything went down at Mania.
‘The Career Killer’ Gunther was doing Heyman’s bidding as he faced Seth Rollins for a favor. For a while now since Gunther retired Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, the rumor has been Gunther was set to retire Lesnar in his hometown at this year’s SummerSlam event. There’s been no confirmation if Lesnar is truly retired, but on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, we saw Heyman talking with General Manager Nick Aldis. Later that night following Rhodes’ match against the debuting Ricky Saints, Gunther choked out the WWE Champion. Could this be the favor from Heyman?
I know in the world of professional wrestling we live by the mantra of “never say never,” but what if Lesnar is actually retired and this was WWE’s way of shutting down those rumors about Gunther and Lesnar? What if Gunther’s next program is chasing after the WWE title, and where is Randy Orton at in all of these plans? There are so many questions that need to be answered, hopefully soon!

Chris King: Defend The Intercontinental Championship At Backlash!
With WWE Backlash upon us, Chris King wants to see Penta defend the Intercontinental Championship in Tampa!
With WWE Backlash upon us, Chris King wants to see Penta defend the Intercontinental Championship in Tampa!
This year’s annual Backlash showcase is only a few days away, and while there are many big matches announced, one that definitely should be isn’t on the card. In my opinion, outside of Roman Reigns/Jacob Fatu and Seth Rollins/Bron Breakker, the Intercontinental Championship scene has been stellar over the last month.
Penta has been an excellent champion, especially after his triumphant title defense in a ladder match against JeVon Evans, Rusev, Dragon Lee, and the Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 42. Their ladder match at Mania was one of the best that WWE has produced in a while.
The momentum never stopped, as on the post-Mania episode of Monday Night Raw, ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page made his debut and was quickly inserted into the Intercontinental title scene. Page had a fantastic showing against his longtime NXT rival Evans and picked up a big win in his debut match thanks to an assist from Rusev.
All Ego immediately joined forces with ‘The Bulgarian Brute’ Rusev, who was also vying for the Intercontinental Title in his own right. On this week’s episode of Raw, Page and Rusev defeated Evans and Penta. All Ego pinned the champion, making a huge statement and putting him one step closer to getting a title shot. For the past few weeks I’ve been anxiously waiting to see if WWE was going to add this incredible fatal four-way match for the Intercontinental Championship, but it hasn’t happened yet.
As much as the WWE Universe enjoys witnessing great matches on free television, I truly believe all four superstars deserve the chance to showcase their talents on the PLE. While Penta has done a terrific job as the intercontinental champion, it’s time for a fresh face to hold the prestigious title. Page would make a great braggadocious heel that would help elevate the Intercontinental Championship to new heights!
