HPW Clash of Fates news

The Clash is over, the dust has settled, but the emotions are still sorting out.

HPW Clash of Fates was a truly epic battle of squared circle gladiators! Now, hear from both winners and losers, and THE Hyrule Warrior!

After the HPW Trios Championship match:

The Desert Flowers walk in, rather dismayed.

Riju is the most sore after taking #HammerAndAnvil, and the most emotional. Bularia helps her walk while Aveil clears the way. Riju apologizes to her teammates and to their fans, but Bularia says all three of them share the blame. “We tried our hardest, but it just wasn’t enough. Iron Knuckle, the Darknuts, they’re just that strong. They deserve to be champions.” Bularia vows on behalf of the Desert Flowers, they will find their way back to title contention. “The hopes and dreams of the Gerudo will bloom. I swear it.”

Forged By Violence once again walk in victorious.

However, they’re not as excited as they should be, given what happened right after. “Well, well, well,” Iron Knuckle says. “To think they would show up tonight. To think they would challenge us. To think they would want to fight us after what they just saw.” And no, he’s not talking about “The Studly Guys.” Groose is the only decent one out of those three, and even then. But he’s talking about the so-called “Doom Bringers.” And yes, it has been a long time since he’s seen Doomknocker, Gooma, and Darkhammer. “All three of them are battle tested warriors of the Hyrule independent scene. I’m glad to see HPW now sees what I’ve seen in them the last seven years.

“But for them to come in here and act like I’m the one at fault for being found first. That I’m the villain for accepting an offer that would help me and mine. No.” If the Doom Bringers want the titles, Forged By Violence is happy to make them the third team to feel the pain. HPW Media asks about The Studly Guys’ own challenge, and Iron Knuckle just laughs. The champions leave, but will they be completely ignoring one team to focus on another?

After the HPW Men’s Championship match:

Ghirahim storms in!

“Out of my way!” he shouts as he pushes right past everyone. He goes down the hall without another word. We now know why. And this probably won’t be the last time we see him backstage in a bad mood…

Igos du Ikana is welcomed by the Ikana Royal Family.

They applaud the now official HPW Termina Champion as he walks to the table to take a seat. Igos holds a hand open, Captain Keeta cracks open a Necluda Lite and hands it to him. Igos takes a few gulps then sets the can down on the table. “Very refreshing. And I don’t just mean the beer. It is refreshing to be champion again.” Igos promises to “breathe new life” into this title, and to “liven up” competition in HPW. He thanks HPW for honoring Termina Championship Wrestling, he won’t squander this opportunity.

After the HPW Triforce Championship main event:

Zelda is helped into the back.

She has icepacks pretty much all over as she carefully makes her way down the steps. Zelda clenches her jaw, but she sniffles as her eyes tear up. She makes it to the table to lean against it, and she starts sobbing. She SCREAMS in anger, sobs some more, then sits on the floor. “I’m sorry. I’m… I’m obviously upset.” She felt she was going to win, but she didn’t. She didn’t feel she was going to win because she’s Zelda, Princess of Hyrule, but because of how hard she trained and prepared for this. It wasn’t enough. She feels like she let her mentor, Impa, down, as well as her fans. She’s been fighting so hard for so much, only to fail. “I… I’m not sure where to go from here.”

Ganondorf Dragmire celebrates again!

He grins ear to ear, even though he has an icepack for his neck. He pats the Triforce Championship that’s still around his waist, and he even says, “And still…!” He chuckles as he goes to his table and again enjoys a beer from the six pack. “What is this now? Day… 85! We are now on day 85 of the Gerudo Ace Era!” The 85th day of the never ending party that is his reign! And just like he said at the end of the match, he is ETERNAL! “This reign will never end! The party will never end!” Well actually, the party is over for Zelda because Ganondorf beat her 1v1. He may have lost to them together, but he’s beaten Link and Zelda separately, so really, he should’ve been champion since April 1st.

“Hell, HPW should’ve just had me in the Hyrule Warriors match defending the title at the same time! But then there’d really be no one left to defend against, huh?” Ganondorf will happily face whoever wins that match have an even bigger party after winning again!

During the Hyrule Warriors main event:

Considering there are thirty-three entrants in this match, HPW themselves are only providing the highlights as each eliminated entry returned backstage.

Nabooru walks in.

The iconic Gerudo wrestler was third eliminated but doesn’t seem that upset. “Yes, I’m back! And okay, I didn’t win tonight, but whatever, I’m coming for gold one way or another. Because even still, N B R, No Body’s Ready!”

Auru walks in.

Second entrant but fourth eliminated, and yet the former Resistance member isn’t at all upset. “It was great getting back in that ring. A lot of great, young talent out there today, huh?” He got to see what Rusl and Telma were talking about with “that kid from Kakariko.” Auru will be watching from the back and cheering that kid on. Maybe Auru’s support was a difference maker?

Rauru walks in!

The Wise Owl was supposed to be entry #21, but Ghirahim stole that from him! Rauru is seething as he tells Ghirahim, “You’re going to pay for that. You may have lost your weird little title belt with your face on it, but you also lost a lot of respect.” Ghirahim will pay, somehow, someway.

The Dark Forces walk in!

Volga is furious! “That Death Sword thinks he’s scary? He’s not scary! These two are scary, just look at them!” Volga warns Death Sword, and apparently his buddy, Gomess, to stay out of the way or else! But then Death Sword attacks!! The brawling from ringside continues backstage!! Death Sword CHOPS Volga and throws haymakers with Gibdo! They go off down a hall, and HPW Media cleans things up before the next eliminated entrant(s) come through.

Ghirahim returns!

And he’s not happy to be back so soon! “That FFFFFISH!!” How dare he disrespect the Demon Lord like that?! He’ll make sure Fin Balure fries for this! HPW Media quickly asks about him attacking Rauru. “The Hyrule Warrior match is supposed to have the 33 best wrestlers in HPW, right? Is that old buzzard really still even in the top 50?” Not on Ghirahim’s list he’s not. And Ghirahim never liked that rule about no champions being allowed into the match, either. But since Ghirahim “sadly” lost his title meant he was eligible again, and he took out the last place wrestler out of the 33. If anyone has a problem with that, come tell Ghirahim to his face.

The Three Masters enter together.

“Well damn,” Kohga says. “Gold Freakin’ Lynel, huh? No wonder my nephews love watching that guy in UHF.” But there’s no shame in being eliminated by a beast like that guy. The Three Masters will regroup and figure things out from here. Now where are the bananas?

Cia storms in.

“Damn you! DAMN YOU!” She’s clearly upset, but HPW Media asks which is more upsetting: Losing or being attacked by that mystery woman? “Are you new to reporting or something? Or just an idiot?” BOTH are upsetting her! And she’s going to get back at “her” soon enough. But she calms down and says it’s okay, because Cia eliminated FIVE others! That’s a record, right? She’s more than happy to hang her hat on that. Actually, with Balure being eliminated right after her, Lynel also eliminated five people. Cia flatly stares at the HPW Media person who said that, then just walks away.

Speaking of, Fin Balure walks in.

“Gold fookin’ Lynel? Get the fook outta here. When did HPW sign that big bastard?” Whatever, if Lynel wants to act all big and tough in the ring because he was starting to get a little scared in the octagon, that’s fine with Fin. Just don’t expect Fin or anyone else to roll over and let Lynel have his way. He hopes those other two lads out there give Lynel hell.

Gold Lynel walks in.

He hobbles a bit given those Dragon Screws, but he’s able to walk on his own. He snarls, but then smiles. “I think I’m going to like it here.” Lynel walks off without another word, but what are his plans now that he’s in HPW?

Osphala walks in.

“That was quite an incredible match, wasn’t it? I didn’t think HPW would want me making a return in something so demanding, but I thank them for that.” Osphala wanted to be Hyrule’s hero, but it seems that is not his destiny. First, second, third, it doesn’t matter, Link started the match at the very beginning and he ended it. Osphala commends Link on such a feat. But Osphala isn’t going away, he vows to be back for more.

And finally, the winner, Link!

The Hero of Kakariko is careful with the sword as he enters. He is presented with a sheath for the sword, and he carefully puts it inside. Link then slings the whole thing onto his back and skips the table and the drinks to pose for pictures. HPW Media asks if Link has any words for Triforce Champion, Ganondorf, and the rematch from Treasure Island happening at HyruleMania. “Ganondorf. You’re going to pay.” Link is a man of few words, but actions speak louder. Will Link’s actions be louder than ever now?

My Thoughts:

I’m really excited, there’s so much that could happen after Clash of Fates. The November event and other articles will have to set up a lot for HyruleMania in December, but this is getting even more fun now that we’re on the road to an end of the year event.

This week’s Bandwagon Nerds is loaded with drama, intrigue, action, and a healthy dose of irony. We cover the season finale of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. In the explosive finale to a tremendous season, things progress from the courtroom to a desperate fight for survival for all involved, which does not end up the way anyone thought it would. What does this all mean for Season 3? Meanwhile, over on The Boys, Episode 6 of the show’s final season had its own massive Womp Womp moment as Soldier Boy makes a shocking choice that will resonate throughout the remaining two episodes. An extended visit to the Trailer Park takes a look at the latest for The Odyssey, The Burroughs, Tony, and Power Ballad. Joe Russo had an interesting take on spoilers, and Matt Reeves gave us our first look at The Batman 2. All that plus we pay our respect to Ted Turner.
