Tiffany’s Takes: November 2-8, 2020

With a few big events this weekend, Tiffany gives her thoughts about some of the major topics!

Published

on

Jon Moxley

What the fuck kind of bullshit is this when you FINALLY have a confrontation between the contenders for your World Championship and then say they can’t get physical?! HOWEVER, I really enjoyed that segment. You could feel the tension, but both guys were good boys and didn’t get physical. Mox being chill while riling Kingston up was sublime. The crack about being burned by loyalty hurt, not gonna lie.

Roman Reigns

Yeah, this shit is getting dark. We’re coming out The Godfather and heading to Cultland. I’m not mad at Kayla Braxton for giving her opinion of the current situation, cuz it’s wild. I also enjoyed Jey vs Kevin Owens and the slow process of either a total turn to the Dark Side or a hell of a redemption story.

Seth Rollins

When we last left the Rollins/Mysterio Romeo and Juliet storyline, Aalyah had turned her back on her family and Murphy had turned on Rollins. This week, it seems like the Mysterio version of the Capulets aren’t ready to let Juliet go just yet, but Romeo is definitely not getting a dinner invite, so he’s back with the Montagues…or is he?

Well, Murphy is back with Seth, at least that what it looks like, but it also looks like Romeo hasn’t given up on Juliet just yet. I’m going to be stocking up on popcorn for this.

Retribution/Mustafa Ali

Just when I thought we weren’t going to get Retribution, they surprise me! I’m all for Ali trying to recruit Ricochet, or beat the piss out of him, I’m flexible that way. I SO want Ricochet in Retribution, God knows they need some more main roster talent, but I’m also in for Ali vs Richochet just for the sheer fucking crazy good matches they’ll have.

Also, I love following Ali on Twitter and watching clapback at the Islamaphobes, particularly the jackass that said he didn’t have to pronounce Ali’s name correctly because ‘This is America and we can do what we want.’ Heel or face, Ali is a wonderful example of taking no bullshit.

Kylie Rae

In case you didn’t hear, Kylie Rae has announced that she is no longer a professional wrestler. This comes after she no called, no showed IMPACT either last weekend or the week before and several months after she officially left AEW for undisclosed reasons after only having one match. I won’t presume to know what’s going on with her, but I hope that she finds health and peace in whatever she decides to do next.

Women’s Wrestling

Was I supposed to care about or be interested in this Women’s Tag Team Championship match? I was? Oops, cuz I was NOT. I don’t like either team or the people in them, well, I’m fond of Dana Brooke, but that’s it. Lana? Bleh. Not interested in that either. If this is the RAW Women’s Survivor Series team, I’m fully rooting for SmackDown. I’m oddly intrigued by Alexa and the Fiend storyline, but Alexa’s contacts make her look cross-eyed. I’m here for us FINALLY getting Alexa and her…Dark Fairy vs Nikki Cross. I hope we get the original Nikki, the one that was in SaNitY.

SASHA BROKE THE CURSE! She FINALLY won a rematch! On top of that, it was a great match! I’m certainly intrigued by Carmella staking a claim on the title given that Carmella and Bayley were BFFs in NXT after Sasha, Charlotte, and Becky were called up. I’m stoked that Ruby Riott is going to Survivor Series over Natalia, though I think Natalia will get in somehow.

I’ll say it, again, the AEW Women’s Division deserves better than what they’ve been getting lately. I like Brandi, but her going over talent despite easily being the weakest wrestler is getting old. Also, not here for the women only getting ONE match on Dynamite and it was a squasher for Nyla Rose, who I like. The confrontation with Shida was great and badly needed, but it’s still not enough for them on Dynamite.

Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho’s political tweets. WOOF. I like Jericho and I’m all for celebrities voicing their opinions, even ones I disagree with, they have as much right to have shitty takes as the rest of us, but WOOF. I’m guessing Jericho, whose original WWE gimmick was a play on the Y2k/2000 thing, forgot about the shit show that was the 2000 US Presidential Election. I know Jericho likes conspiracy theories, but read the room, dude, and do some research before you shoot your mouth off.

Full Gear

Could someone explain to me why the NWA Women’s Champion has had more matches on AEW PPV than most of the AEW Women’s Roster? Seriously, Britt Baker doesn’t have a match, neither does Big Swole, or Anna Jay, but Allysin Kay and Serena Deeb do?  I’m all for cooperation for the NWA and AEW, but it feels like the AEW Women are getting done dirty.

Okay, I gotta admit, I didn’t watch a whole lot of Full Gear. I wasn’t expecting the results of the 2020 Presidential Election to be called on Saturday, or for President-Elect Biden to give a speech right at the time Full Gear started, so I was watching that and coverage of the election being called. HOWEVER, I did enjoy the parts of Full Gear I saw.

I’m very happy for Darby Allin FINALLY winning a title. I hope he gets long title reign out of it, but we’ll see.

I’m very happy for the Young Bucks. I know their decision to build up the tag division and not put themselves in the title picture was baffling to a lot of fans, but I respect it. Congrats to them on finally being tag champs and for a fantastic match.

Hikaru Shida vs Nyla Rose was great, I just wish the story had been played out more on Dynamite instead of Dark.

Mox vs Kingston…AMAZING. We all knew that it was going to be violent and physical, but it also told a great story about the destruction of a friendship. With or without a title, Mox vs Kingston could be a Fight Forever kind of feud for AEW and they really need one.  I was kind of surprised that they didn’t have Omega attack Mox from behind like Mox did on the first episode of Dynamite, but the fact that we’ll get Part 2 of that feud makes me very happy.

Chris King: Is Brock Lesnar Truly Retired?

Brock Lesnar retired at WWE WrestleMania 42, right? Are we totally sure? Chris King asks…

Brock Lesnar WWE WrestleMania 42 Retirement

Brock Lesnar retired at WWE WrestleMania 42, right? Are we totally sure? Chris King asks…

At WrestleMania 42, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar took off his boots and gloves following his loss to Oba Femi. Lesnar has done it all inside of his twenty-four-year career in professional wrestling. He’s a ten-time WWE Champion and former UFC Heavyweight Champion, and he’s one who ended The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania.

While Lesnar was in the ring, he was visibly overwhelmed with emotion and crying while he thanked the fans in his own way. The Beast even threw up an x to signal to Paul Heyman, his longtime friend and advocate, that this was not scripted and was real. There had been rumors that Lesnar and Oba were supposed to have a series of matches before everything went down at Mania.

‘The Career Killer’ Gunther was doing Heyman’s bidding as he faced Seth Rollins for a favor. For a while now since Gunther retired Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, the rumor has been Gunther was set to retire Lesnar in his hometown at this year’s SummerSlam event. There’s been no confirmation if Lesnar is truly retired, but on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, we saw Heyman talking with General Manager Nick Aldis. Later that night following Rhodes’ match against the debuting Ricky Saints, Gunther choked out the WWE Champion. Could this be the favor from Heyman?

I know in the world of professional wrestling we live by the mantra of “never say never,” but what if Lesnar is actually retired and this was WWE’s way of shutting down those rumors about Gunther and Lesnar? What if Gunther’s next program is chasing after the WWE title, and where is Randy Orton at in all of these plans? There are so many questions that need to be answered, hopefully soon!

Chris King: Defend The Intercontinental Championship At Backlash!

With WWE Backlash upon us, Chris King wants to see Penta defend the Intercontinental Championship in Tampa!

Penta WWE Intercontinental Championship WrestleMania 42

With WWE Backlash upon us, Chris King wants to see Penta defend the Intercontinental Championship in Tampa!

This year’s annual Backlash showcase is only a few days away, and while there are many big matches announced, one that definitely should be isn’t on the card. In my opinion, outside of Roman Reigns/Jacob Fatu and Seth Rollins/Bron Breakker, the Intercontinental Championship scene has been stellar over the last month.

Penta has been an excellent champion, especially after his triumphant title defense in a ladder match against JeVon Evans, Rusev, Dragon Lee, and the Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 42. Their ladder match at Mania was one of the best that WWE has produced in a while.

The momentum never stopped, as on the post-Mania episode of Monday Night Raw, ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page made his debut and was quickly inserted into the Intercontinental title scene. Page had a fantastic showing against his longtime NXT rival Evans and picked up a big win in his debut match thanks to an assist from Rusev.

All Ego immediately joined forces with ‘The Bulgarian Brute’ Rusev, who was also vying for the Intercontinental Title in his own right. On this week’s episode of Raw, Page and Rusev defeated Evans and Penta. All Ego pinned the champion, making a huge statement and putting him one step closer to getting a title shot. For the past few weeks I’ve been anxiously waiting to see if WWE was going to add this incredible fatal four-way match for the Intercontinental Championship, but it hasn’t happened yet.

As much as the WWE Universe enjoys witnessing great matches on free television, I truly believe all four superstars deserve the chance to showcase their talents on the PLE. While Penta has done a terrific job as the intercontinental champion, it’s time for a fresh face to hold the prestigious title. Page would make a great braggadocious heel that would help elevate the Intercontinental Championship to new heights!
