Bodeen’s Top 5 Moments: NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day
After another great WWE NXT Takeover, Bodeen checks in with his Top 5 moments from Vengeance Day!
After another great WWE NXT Takeover, Bodeen checks in with his Top 5 moments from Vengeance Day!
Yet again NXT delivered another amazing TakeOver with TakeOver: Vengeance Day being an incredible show. The night was action-packed with great matches, the rise of new stars and a shocking finish. So let’s not waste any more time and try to squeeze in 5 of the best moments on an incredible show.
5. Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez beat Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon
Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez are two of the most underrated women on the NXT women’s roster. Dakota is an incredibly talented worker and Gonzalez is an amazing powerhouse. Despite this though both women have never got a full chance to shine on NXT mainly due to how talented the NXT women’s division is. Luckily the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Classic was a great opportunity to give them the spotlight they deserve.
All 4 women involved in this match did a great job, however, the MVP of the match has to go to Raquel Gonzalez. Gonzalez looked like an absolute beast, dominating Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon while also withstanding an onslaught of punishment from her opponents.
With Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez now in line for a woman’s tag team title spot, it will be interesting to see if they will move to the main roster if they beat Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler.
4. MSK win the Dusty Rhodes Classic
In just a few short weeks MSK have become one of the biggest tag teams in NXT and defiantly have the potential to be future NXT tag team champions. MSK put on another great match with the Grizzled Young Veterans, with GYV pushing the new tag team to the limit and putting them in a vulnerable position we have never seen before.
MSK would get dominated by the Grizzled Young Veterans for a lot of the match, showcasing the resiliency from both men. The match was intense and hard-hitting with my only slight nitpick being that there were too many kick-outs and false finishes, although that sort of thing is more subjective so I can understand why they did it.
The only question now is can MSK keep their hot streak going and beat Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch for the NXT Tag Team Championship.
3. Johnny TakeOver does it again
Despite his negative win-loss record at TakeOver, Johnny Gargano has earned the nickname of Johnny Takeover, through the amazing matches he has had with the likes of Adam Cole, Tommaso Ciampa and Andrade. His match against KUSHIDA would prove no different as both men would put on an amazing match.
In a night that contained matches with a lot of near falls, it was great to see KUSHIDA and Johnny Gargano change things up as they went for a more submission based match. Both men would trade submission holds with KUSHIDA targeting Johnny’s arm while Johnny targeted the neck of KUSHIDA.
It was also nice to see Gargano win clean after Dexter Lumis took Austin Theory out as The Way may their entrance as it kept Gargano looking strong.
2. Pete Dunne and Finn Balor put on a technical masterpiece
Finn Balor’s time as NXT Champion has been amazing to watch. During his time as Champion, he has put on some amazing matches whilst looking like a complete badass. Pete Dunne has also looked great after his return, with Dunne looking completely cold and heartless as he destroys his opponents.
Both men would meet and put on a technical masterpiece, with both men hitting each other with hard strikes and submission holds, with Balor working through arm pain caused by Dunne and Dunne working through having his leg targeted by Balor.
Another part of what made this match so great was the attention to detail with the limb work, which could be seen after the match when Balor could not do his double point taunt due to Dunne attacking his fingers.
1. Adam Cole shocks the system
Yet again NXT tricks fans with the end credit graphic. The end credit graphic false finish has been used so many times and yet it still continues to trick fans like it did at Vengence Day, as Adam Cole turned his back on Kyle O’Reilly and Finn Balor superkicking both of them to finish the show.
This was an amazing finish and I personally feel it came at the right time, as The Undisputed Era have done everything there is to do together as a group, so a heel turn from Cole to allow Kyle O’Reilly to separate from the group and do his own thing can mean great things.
It will be interesting to see what Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish will do on NXT and if they will side with Cole or O’Reilly.

These were my top 5 moments from TakeOver: Vengeance Day. What were your top 5 moments and what do you think of Cole turning on Kyle O’Reilly? Let us know in the comments below.

Chris King: Is Brock Lesnar Truly Retired?
Brock Lesnar retired at WWE WrestleMania 42, right? Are we totally sure? Chris King asks…
Brock Lesnar retired at WWE WrestleMania 42, right? Are we totally sure? Chris King asks…
At WrestleMania 42, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar took off his boots and gloves following his loss to Oba Femi. Lesnar has done it all inside of his twenty-four-year career in professional wrestling. He’s a ten-time WWE Champion and former UFC Heavyweight Champion, and he’s one who ended The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania.
While Lesnar was in the ring, he was visibly overwhelmed with emotion and crying while he thanked the fans in his own way. The Beast even threw up an x to signal to Paul Heyman, his longtime friend and advocate, that this was not scripted and was real. There had been rumors that Lesnar and Oba were supposed to have a series of matches before everything went down at Mania.
‘The Career Killer’ Gunther was doing Heyman’s bidding as he faced Seth Rollins for a favor. For a while now since Gunther retired Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, the rumor has been Gunther was set to retire Lesnar in his hometown at this year’s SummerSlam event. There’s been no confirmation if Lesnar is truly retired, but on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, we saw Heyman talking with General Manager Nick Aldis. Later that night following Rhodes’ match against the debuting Ricky Saints, Gunther choked out the WWE Champion. Could this be the favor from Heyman?
I know in the world of professional wrestling we live by the mantra of “never say never,” but what if Lesnar is actually retired and this was WWE’s way of shutting down those rumors about Gunther and Lesnar? What if Gunther’s next program is chasing after the WWE title, and where is Randy Orton at in all of these plans? There are so many questions that need to be answered, hopefully soon!

Chris King: Defend The Intercontinental Championship At Backlash!
With WWE Backlash upon us, Chris King wants to see Penta defend the Intercontinental Championship in Tampa!
With WWE Backlash upon us, Chris King wants to see Penta defend the Intercontinental Championship in Tampa!
This year’s annual Backlash showcase is only a few days away, and while there are many big matches announced, one that definitely should be isn’t on the card. In my opinion, outside of Roman Reigns/Jacob Fatu and Seth Rollins/Bron Breakker, the Intercontinental Championship scene has been stellar over the last month.
Penta has been an excellent champion, especially after his triumphant title defense in a ladder match against JeVon Evans, Rusev, Dragon Lee, and the Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 42. Their ladder match at Mania was one of the best that WWE has produced in a while.
The momentum never stopped, as on the post-Mania episode of Monday Night Raw, ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page made his debut and was quickly inserted into the Intercontinental title scene. Page had a fantastic showing against his longtime NXT rival Evans and picked up a big win in his debut match thanks to an assist from Rusev.
All Ego immediately joined forces with ‘The Bulgarian Brute’ Rusev, who was also vying for the Intercontinental Title in his own right. On this week’s episode of Raw, Page and Rusev defeated Evans and Penta. All Ego pinned the champion, making a huge statement and putting him one step closer to getting a title shot. For the past few weeks I’ve been anxiously waiting to see if WWE was going to add this incredible fatal four-way match for the Intercontinental Championship, but it hasn’t happened yet.
As much as the WWE Universe enjoys witnessing great matches on free television, I truly believe all four superstars deserve the chance to showcase their talents on the PLE. While Penta has done a terrific job as the intercontinental champion, it’s time for a fresh face to hold the prestigious title. Page would make a great braggadocious heel that would help elevate the Intercontinental Championship to new heights!
