Bodeen’s Top 5 Moments: WWE NXT (2/10/21)
As the Go Home to Vengeance Day; Bodeen goes over his Top 5 from this past NXT!
With NXT TakeOver: Vengence Day just around the corner NXT delivered yet another solid episode as it built up the finals for the women’s and men’s Dusty Rhodes Classic final. So as we get ready for this Sunday, it is time yet again to look at the moments that stood out on the show.
5. MSK make it to the Dusty Rhodes Classic finals
Over time as teams like the Viking Raiders and the Street Profits have left NXT, NXT’s tag team division has lost a small sparkle. While it is still a great division, at times it feels like it has lost a touch. Luckily the team of MSK look like they can reignite that spark in NXT’s tag team division as they defeated Legado Del Fantasma to advance to the Dusty Rhodes Classic finals.
Both teams did a great job opening the show and got the blood pumping for the rest of the show with the action never going too far over the top.
With MSK in the finals, it will be interesting to see if they will go all the way and beat Grizzled Young Veterans at Takeover: Vengeance Day.
4. Xia Li continues to dominate
NXT has constantly done an amazing job in pushing singles superstars out of nowhere, especially in their women’s division, with Xia Li being the biggest example of this. Just a few months ago she was a jobber to women who were being pushed in NXT at the time. Now she is arguably starting to be in the NXT Women’s Championship picture as she had yet another dominant showing on NXT.
Her new gimmick is intriguing and even after several weeks of video packages and live performances on NXT there seems to be more questions and answers around her new character.
Hopefully, NXT management have thought out this character in the long run and don’t leave Xia Li in limbo in the future.
3. Cameron Grimes returns and goes stonks
Never did I think I would use the word stonks on a wrestling website, yet here we are. Pop culture references aside Cameron Grimes returning to NXT as a millionaire after investing in Gamestop and Dogecoin is one of the most oddly satisfying things I have seen in wrestling.
There are many ways this can play out for Cameron Grimes and I would not be surprised if we see Grimes using his new-found money to form his own group.
Now there’s only one thing left and that is for JBL to move out the way as Cameron Grimes is the next millionaire cowboy gimmick.
2. Grizzled Young Veterans beat Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher
After Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa teamed up I thought it would be a matter of time until they reached the finals for the Dusty Rhodes Classic following makeshift teams like Samoa Joe and Finn Balor as well as Pete Dunne and Riddle. NXT then provided a huge shock this week as the Grizzled Young Veterans defeated Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa in a great match.
The match did a great job in highlighting the toughness and brutality of all four men involved. Special credit also has to be given to the Grizzled Young Veterans who cut a solid promo before the match, calling out Ciampa’s history with his last partner, Johnny Gargano.
While it is unclear where Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher will go after their loss, I personally have my fingers crossed that this isn’t the end of their alliance.
1. Johnny Gargano steals the show injured
Heading into NXT this week many rumors circulated around the wrestling world stating the match between Kushida and Johnny Gargano this Sunday was canceled after Austin Theory sent out a tweet saying there would be no Johnny Takeover this Sunday. Luckily it was revealed that Theory was trolling fans, as well as the rest of The Way as Gargano came out in a wheelchair stating Kushida injured him.
This was a great segment with Gargano yet again playing his heel role perfectly as he contradicted the story about his injury several times.
A shoutout also has to be given to Wade Barrett on commentary who defended Gargano, even when Gargano removed his cast.
These were my top 5 moments from this week’s NXT. What were your top 5 moments and who do you think will win the Dusty Rhodes Classic this Sunday? Let us know in the comments below.

Chris King: Is Brock Lesnar Truly Retired?
Brock Lesnar retired at WWE WrestleMania 42, right? Are we totally sure? Chris King asks…
Brock Lesnar retired at WWE WrestleMania 42, right? Are we totally sure? Chris King asks…
At WrestleMania 42, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar took off his boots and gloves following his loss to Oba Femi. Lesnar has done it all inside of his twenty-four-year career in professional wrestling. He’s a ten-time WWE Champion and former UFC Heavyweight Champion, and he’s one who ended The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania.
While Lesnar was in the ring, he was visibly overwhelmed with emotion and crying while he thanked the fans in his own way. The Beast even threw up an x to signal to Paul Heyman, his longtime friend and advocate, that this was not scripted and was real. There had been rumors that Lesnar and Oba were supposed to have a series of matches before everything went down at Mania.
‘The Career Killer’ Gunther was doing Heyman’s bidding as he faced Seth Rollins for a favor. For a while now since Gunther retired Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, the rumor has been Gunther was set to retire Lesnar in his hometown at this year’s SummerSlam event. There’s been no confirmation if Lesnar is truly retired, but on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, we saw Heyman talking with General Manager Nick Aldis. Later that night following Rhodes’ match against the debuting Ricky Saints, Gunther choked out the WWE Champion. Could this be the favor from Heyman?
I know in the world of professional wrestling we live by the mantra of “never say never,” but what if Lesnar is actually retired and this was WWE’s way of shutting down those rumors about Gunther and Lesnar? What if Gunther’s next program is chasing after the WWE title, and where is Randy Orton at in all of these plans? There are so many questions that need to be answered, hopefully soon!

Chris King: Defend The Intercontinental Championship At Backlash!
With WWE Backlash upon us, Chris King wants to see Penta defend the Intercontinental Championship in Tampa!
With WWE Backlash upon us, Chris King wants to see Penta defend the Intercontinental Championship in Tampa!
This year’s annual Backlash showcase is only a few days away, and while there are many big matches announced, one that definitely should be isn’t on the card. In my opinion, outside of Roman Reigns/Jacob Fatu and Seth Rollins/Bron Breakker, the Intercontinental Championship scene has been stellar over the last month.
Penta has been an excellent champion, especially after his triumphant title defense in a ladder match against JeVon Evans, Rusev, Dragon Lee, and the Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 42. Their ladder match at Mania was one of the best that WWE has produced in a while.
The momentum never stopped, as on the post-Mania episode of Monday Night Raw, ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page made his debut and was quickly inserted into the Intercontinental title scene. Page had a fantastic showing against his longtime NXT rival Evans and picked up a big win in his debut match thanks to an assist from Rusev.
All Ego immediately joined forces with ‘The Bulgarian Brute’ Rusev, who was also vying for the Intercontinental Title in his own right. On this week’s episode of Raw, Page and Rusev defeated Evans and Penta. All Ego pinned the champion, making a huge statement and putting him one step closer to getting a title shot. For the past few weeks I’ve been anxiously waiting to see if WWE was going to add this incredible fatal four-way match for the Intercontinental Championship, but it hasn’t happened yet.
As much as the WWE Universe enjoys witnessing great matches on free television, I truly believe all four superstars deserve the chance to showcase their talents on the PLE. While Penta has done a terrific job as the intercontinental champion, it’s time for a fresh face to hold the prestigious title. Page would make a great braggadocious heel that would help elevate the Intercontinental Championship to new heights!
