Fallout from HyruleMania 2!

HPW News 2022

There was much celebrating after the Celebration of Greatness!

HyruleMania 2 made history as we crowned new champions while seeing others retain to set records! Hear from HPW’s greatest after their greatest moments!

After the HPW Death Mountain Championship Furious 5 Ladder Match.

Gold Lynel walks in.

He’s not in a good mood since he lost. “Climbing ladders. I won that way last year, but I lose that way this year.” He’s considering taking some time off. After all, he dominated as Death Mountain Champion, he deserves some time off. Lynel walks off, grabbing another bottle of water on his way out. When and where will we see the One True Monster back in HPW?

King Bulblin storms in.

He’s berating the Bulblin Triplets for not doing a better job during the match. But he also says that he’s not done with the Death Mountain Championship. “I’ll be back for that belt, so Tali better keep it nice and shiny for me!”

Hinox walks in.

“Y’know, you think they’d get stronger ladders if they were going to put me into that match. But no big deal. I’ll be sure to win that belt in a normal match. But for now, Happy New Year’s!” Hinox toasts with a bottle of water before heading out.

El Hijo del Torbellino walks in.

Once again, the Son of the Whirlpool makes a surprise appearance, and one again he is honored to be here. Then to everyone’s surprise, Humpback Hook Halibut walks in! And he holds out a contract! Torbellino takes it, looks at it, and can’t believe his eyes! Hook hands him a pen and of course Torbellino signs! Torbellino and Hook shake hands and pose for pictures, Torbellino is now officially signed to HPW!

Tali and Shabonne walk in.

Shabonne chants, “Sa’oten! Sa’oten!” while Tali holds up the title. Tali says, “History has been made. I stand on top of Death Mountain, and no one’s gonna knock me off it.” Is this huge win going to the rookie’s head already?

After the HPW Trios Championships match.

The Studly Guys storm in.

Well, after Skull Kid abandoned them, are they even still The Studly Guys? Groose wants to know where Skull Kid went, but no one knows. How can that be? Skull Kid went to the back, didn’t he? Groose gives up on finding Skull Kid for now to get Tingle to medical for all those headbutts he took.

The Desert Flowers regroup after the interruption from Forged By Violence and Ganondorf.

“Now that we get to speak,” Riju says, “we are ecstatic that we get to represent Gerudo and women’s wrestling for HPW. But we know that our win here is just the beginning. FBV, Ganondorf and your minions, you voe want to have your little fight, you go right ahead. Come find us when you’re ready.” A challenge has been thrown out by the new champions, who will rise up to answer it?

After Ghirahim VS Midna.

Ghirahim laughs as he enters.

He’s holding onto the pieces of Fused Shadow that he used to curse Midna with, and he’s laughing like the madman he is as he stands there, almost posing for the cameras. “I wonder how much of the internet will still simp for the imp!” Ghirahim laughs more and then walks away.

Midna walk- er, floats in.

Once again a tiny imp-like creature and wearing the stone mask/headdress, Midna snarls and grits her teeth. Her hair is again magical and it forms a fist that clinches, just as her little imp hands clinch into fists. “Ghirahim, you better be the one who leaves HPW, or I will use the Fused Shadows to bash your flamboyant little head in!” Midna storms off as best she can while levitating, will she get her all three hands on all three pieces of Fused Shadow again? Or will Ghirahim leave her cursing her cursed fate?

After the HPW Termina Championship.

Osphala walks in.

“Fin got the better of me. He really does have incredible stamina.” But then Igos du Ikana walks over! Osphala asks what Igos wants, and Igos simply chuckles. That chuckle builds into a full laugh, and Igos walks away.

Fin Balure walks in.

Balure sits at the table and props up the belt and enjoys a quick sip of beer. Balure quickly thanks his fans, his training partners, and then his family for supporting him. Then he says cheers for the New Year before chugging the rest of that can.

After the HPW Goddess Championship.

Zelda walks in.

And before she really has a chance to say anything, she’s presented with a bouquet of flowers and even a medal with “ONE YEAR” on it. She’s surprised, flattered, and thankful to HPW for giving her these, and also for giving her a fair chance to prove herself. She looks forward to next year, and to all the challengers coming for her next. And she wishes us all a Happy New Year!

After the HPW Triforce Championship main event.

Ravio hops in, Hilda helping him.

“Well, y’know,” he says, “I probably should’ve been more careful during the filming of my Road to HyruleMania stuff. The referees confiscated my baseball bat and kendo sticks after it aired, so that’s why I had to use a stupid bucket to hit Link with! And actually, I wished they’d taken my table, given how that turned out…” Hilda says the refs are just biased against Ravio’s creativity. “But mark my words, Link! We’ll both be back! We’ll both be back for that belt in the New Year! And once we have it, then it will be a happy one!” These two storm off as best they can with Ravio’s legs still tied up, and Hilda even shouts for someone to get them scissors.

Link walks in.

Much like with Zelda, Link is given medal with “ONE YEAR” on it, but instead of a bouquet, he is handed a bottle of milk. Link raises it for a toast then takes a few chugs. But before Link can speak on this victory, the Dark Forces walk over. Kage glares at Link but Cia assures Link that there won’t be any fighting. But she promises that Kage will find his way back to that title and finally take it from Link. Then she sarcastically wishes Link a Happy New Year, then the Dark Forces leave. Will Kage look to cast a shadow on Link’s second year as champion?

My Thoughts:

HPW is entering year three already, but I will have to figure out if my schedule can accommodate as big of an undertaking as another Triforce Tournament. I hope I still can, so make sure to follow The Chairshot’s Twitter or join the Facebook group to keep an eye on things.

Bandwagon Nerds Mario

This week’s Bandwagon Nerds is loaded with drama, intrigue, action, and a healthy dose of irony. We cover the season finale of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. In the explosive finale to a tremendous season, things progress from the courtroom to a desperate fight for survival for all involved, which does not end up the way anyone thought it would. What does this all mean for Season 3? Meanwhile, over on The Boys, Episode 6 of the show’s final season had its own massive Womp Womp moment as Soldier Boy makes a shocking choice that will resonate throughout the remaining two episodes. An extended visit to the Trailer Park takes a look at the latest for The Odyssey, The Burroughs, Tony, and Power Ballad. Joe Russo had an interesting take on spoilers, and Matt Reeves gave us our first look at The Batman 2. All that plus we pay our respect to Ted Turner.
