HPW prepares for ThunderStruck 2!
Skull Kid won the Triforce Tournament Finals, but in perhaps the most controversial fashion! How will HPW address this unforeseen outcome?
HPW Management addresses the results of the Triforce Tournament.
General Manager Nicolas Foolyere feels like this happens too often. Starfish McMaguro still can’t even understand what was going on. “A mask coming to life? How is that even possible?” Nicolas says he’s seen some stuff in his career, but that took the cake. COO Humpback Hook Halibut points out that by virtue of a Triple Threat, it wouldn’t matter if a mask came to life or if someone else interfered on his behalf, Skull Kid won. There’s nothing they can do about what happened. The others accept that but Starfish turns the discussion to how to handle the title match at ThunderStruck.
Nicolas suggests maybe they postpone the title match to have a rematch of the finals. And they’ll add a stipulation of no interference. Hook says, “If only we could. Link isn’t medically cleared to compete, and the doctors don’t think he’ll be 100% again until after ThunderStruck. And we can’t delay things until June.” But the measure against interference does sound good to Starfish. They’ll ban everyone else from ringside, and she means everyone. No UnderWorld Order, no Dark Forces, no one that isn’t Skull Kid or Kage. Hook adds that on top of that, if the mask decides to get involved, it will count as an automatic disqualification.
Those stipulations are agreed upon, but Nicolas still feels there needs to be something more. There should be something to make it up to Igos du Ikana, as he was also affected by the mask’s interference. Hook does agree there, and they do need something planned for the other titles. Ganondorf, or now just “Ganon,” has the Termina Championship, and Midna is still Death Mountain Champion. But Midna is also Goddess Champion again, so perhaps they need to discuss contenders for that title. Will Zelda want a rematch? Nicolas knows his daughter isn’t one to accept handouts and automatic rematches.
Then Hook suggests several #1 contender’s matches, choosing from the pool of Triforce Tournament participants. Nicolas and Starfish agree to that, and they bring up the bracket. Obvious choices would be the semifinalists, Onox, Harlequin and Lupay. Lupay and Harlequin being teammates in the Faces of Evil, they can’t be trusted to compete in the same match. A lesson learned when Hilda, Ravio and Yuga turned out to be allies. Then they should bring in the quarterfinalists, Fin Balure, Kēvín the Gibdo, Odolwa, Byrne, Groose and… Oh, Militron is another FOE.
And Starfish wants to point out the Death Mountain title is Open Division, this can’t just be a boy’s club. Then they might as well throw Veran, Cia, Aveil and Ladrona into the mix. Nicolas takes these names as names on slips of paper and puts them in a box. Then he grabs them out at random to create a lottery. For the Termina Championship #1 contender’s match: Igos VS Harlequin VS Onox! For the Death Mountain Championship #1 contender’s match: Byrne VS Lupay VS Veran! And therefore, in the Goddess Championship #1 contender’s match: Cia VS Aveil VS Ladrona! The three are in agreement, and those matches are booked!
Three Triple Threats in the wake of the Triforce Tournament, who wins the golden tickets at the end of the rainbow?
HPW hears from Skull Kid.
Skull Kid is at home, heart shaped mask off, pouring himself a glass of Ron Ron Milk. Sudden, maniacal laughter echoes from the other room, and it spooks Skull Kid. Skull Kid asks if someone’s there. “Somebody.” “Who said that?” “Don’t play the innocent with me.” Skull Kid enters the next room, and the voice gets louder. “You’ve known all along.” Skull Kid asks where this person is, and they say, “Follow the cold shiver running down your spine.” Skull Kid looks at his collection of old masks. And then he turns around to see himself in the mirror. “I don’t understand.”
The Skull Kid in the mirror says, “Did you think it was coincidence? So many good things all happening for you, all for you. Skull Kid…” What is going on? What does this other him want? “To say what you won’t. To do what you can’t. To remove those in your way.” He holds up the heart mask. The mask Skull Kid stole over two years ago, that he’s been wearing ever since. Skull Kid is suddenly swarmed with the memories of what he’s done since getting that mask, and it starts to overwhelm him. “You beat them down.” “We beat them down.” This other him… The mask?
“Bingo.” You stole him, so now he’s bringing Skull Kid everything he’s ever wanted: power beyond your wildest dreams. And it’s only just begun. “There is only one who can stop us. Or, imagine if he joined us!” Skull Kid is afraid of his reflection’s evil smile. What will this double-minded madman have in store for the Triforce Champion in May?
My Thoughts:
Heck yeah, Spider-Man movie reference with that Skull Kid promo. And also, a lot of awesome stuff coming for ThunderStruck 2. Blood & Thunder, the Triforce title match, and now three Triple Threat contender’s matches to possibly give us some fresh match-ups. Midna is gonna have her hands full defending two titles, but it would’ve been the same for Zelda since these are dual titles, not unified titles.
